Spartans of Gamma Company IC [REMAKE]

The air seemed to grow still. The fire-fight had finally stopped. The air surrounding the bunker seemed to fizzle as the air was literally burned by plasma. Keith huffed and sat back, resting his head. This fight had been tough. There had been at least three squads of covies, including a ghost. The bodies of the Covenant lay spread out among the debris of the small courtyard. Their 'bunker' was a small coffee shop, riddled with plasma scorching. The were currently in New Mombasa, a major port city and industrial center. They had been sent down in their own S.O.E.I.V's, a smaller, more compact variant built for speed. Things had gotten frisky when a bloody covie ship had gone into slipspace! IN THE CITY! Their pods had gone way off course, along with the other many pods sent along with them. So far, Keith had met up with two of his squad members, but they were still missing their other member. Things had been going okay until they had gotten attacked by a shit ton of covies. (Yes, 'shit ton' is an actual measurement.)

They had finally fended off the attack, with only a few, minor injuries. Keith looked down to his arm, a plasma pistol shot had somehow hit him, it burned like fuck and hurt like hell, but he'd ignore it for now. His suit had injected him with a few stimulants just to help him ignore the pain. He looked to the two other members, grinning. "Whelp, that was pretty easy I would suppose. It'll take more than just three dozen xenos to take us down." Keith stretched his limbs and got up, checking the ammo clip on his assault rifle. Only seventeen bullets left, he took out the clip and replaced it with a full one. "Well, boss, what's the plan? Continue on throughout the city? Find some covies and punch them in the face? Either way, I would settle for a nice relaxing time in Florida or somethin'."

Jason and Keara finished off the last of the covies. Everything grew silent as the two took inventory of themselves. Keara's clip in her AR was completely out. She just ejected it and let it sit on the ground, wondering sarcastically if anyone would call her out on littering. Jason's, on the other hand, had half of the ammo left in it, so he decided to keep it as is. Keara had a minor plasma burn on her leg, but it wasn't serious and the stimulants that the suit produced were probably unnecessary.

Keith asked where to go next, jokingly suggesting that they should take a trip to Florida. Keara replied: "I like Keith's idea of punching covies in the face. Or, better yet, we could sit around and drink coffee." Jason replied, "Frankly, I don't really see you sitting around drinking coffee when you can be killing things. Besides, one of our own is out there. We should move deeper into the city. Keara, cover us from that apartment there." He pointed to an apartment building that was about 5 stories tall and had a convenient fire escape that led to the roof on it, with the ladder down reaching the ground by the building. "Keith, stick with me. Me and you need to find that covie jammer that's making a mockery of our radios." Keara nodded her agreement with the order and ran off, as Jason left the building and looked around. The coast was quite clear.

Keara reached the roof of the building with no trouble, and the roof was also clear. She pulled out her sniper rifle and scanned around, looking for any covies, only to see that, to the group's right, from behind a building next to the coffee shop, a group of elites were coming. Since the radios were down, she waved at Jason, who saw her waving, and pointed to the alleyway the elites were in and made a punching sign, signifying enemies. "Dammit, can't catch a break. Covies coming in from that alley, take cover!" Jason dived behind a car, just as the first elite appeared around the corner. Within half a second, it lost it's head thanks to Keara. The rest of the elites flooded in and looked around for the sniper, but Jason didn't give them time, opening fire on another elite, taking it down in 2 bursts.

Keith grinned at Keara's comment. He might as well take some of the coffee that was right there, get some of the good stuff. Not like the U.N.S.C's shitty brand. He grabbed a few pouches of coffee, tucking them in one of his little compartments. Jason said that he should stick with him, so he would. Keith looked over, seeing their little sniper friend running off, probably to find a nice hiding place to snipe from. Keith got up, brandishing his rifle and following Jason, hoping that they wouldn't run into any other resistance for the time. But, that was proven to be wrong, as Jason looked up, seeing Keara point towards a group of covies running down the alleyway. Keith grinned and hefted his assault rifle, firing long bursts at the Elites closing in on them. The others had already killed two, but there was still about five left, lead by one identified as a Major. Keith grinned and called out: "Cover me!" Keith jumped out from cover, hefting two chunks of C4, grinning as he tossed the lumps into their midst. He jumped back behind cover and quickly activated it. An explosion rocked the ground they were standing on, effectively killing off the group of elites, most of them laying on the ground, twitching. Keith looked back over to Jason, grinning even wider.

Jason watched as Keith lobbed C4 into the group of Elites, effectively blowing all of them up. When Keith was done, he looked at Jason with a wide grin on his face. Jason just replied, "That was my job!"

They walked forward some more, until, down another street, they saw what looked to be a covenant contraption of some sort on a building down the street. The building was 4 stories tall and was probably an apartment. Luckily, Keara had a clear line of sight for the street they were going to have to go along to reach the building. She, however, couldn't see the building directly, so they'd be alone once inside, until she caught up, anyway.

In the way of the building was about 2 blocks of fortifications. Most were unmanned, but a plasma turret manned by an elite, and several of the many sandbags had 1-3 elites in them. It was obvious that the one leading the group was the one behind the plasma turret. Unfortunately, the turret was in a bunker, and was therefor unreachable by Keara's sniper rifle.

Jason looked at this and considered possible tactics to get inside. "Okay, here's the plan. I'll throw a smoke grenade down and run to that sandbag in the middle of the road there," he pointed to a sandbag nearby in the middle of the road, "and start drawing enemy fire. You go around right, and head for that sandbag over there." He pointed to one about a block down, on the right side of the street. "From that range, you should be able to chuck a grenade into the bunker. Ready?" Without waiting for confirmation or a decline, he tossed a smoke grenade into the street, and used the cover it provided to get to his sandbag. He started taking potshots at the bunker, trying to get the Major's attention, and had to duck from suppressing fire. While he did this, Keara sniped the head off of an elite on the right, which was in the path of Keith's run.
