Two young men are studying in a library in highschool. They come across a book bound in black leather. The pages are lined with gold. Various encryptions line the cover, sealed in a seemingly ancient language. They open the book to see what is inside and the book drops, transforming into a black hole that sucks in everything nearby. They are transported into Cambudiol, a kingdom in the Far East part of Cyrofell. They are teleported into the sky, leading to them falling and being knocked out. They awaken in a prison cell, which is where this story begins....
---
Nation Rivers woke up.
His eyes fluttered as he pushed himself up on his elbows, looking around the small cell. His brother Stephen was beside him, still asleep. Dirt-covered, yellow-colored bricks surrounded him, the floor covered with hay on top of the hard concrete surface. There was a small hole in the corner of the cell, and what was inside it was something Nathan didn't want to think about. Two pieces of stale bread were in front of him, a green spot here and there. He was utterly confused as to where he was, and rightfully so.
He rubbed his eyes and pushed himself up to his feet, staggering. Iron bars similar to prison cells acted as the door, however the entire room felt oddly old and rust covered most of the bars. He realized a bustling town was evident outside, however it was nothing he had seen outside of television and medieval fairs before. He blinked and slapped himself, believing he had to be dreaming.
But then it all came back to him; the book, the portal... it wasn't a coincidence. He remembered falling through the sky. He then realized he must have hit hard as he felt a fairly large bump on his arm, and a huge bruise covering most of his front. Dried blood covered his face, his nose in particular.
He got down on his knees and shook his brother. "Stephen. Wake up," he hissed.
