As an example, some had little going on for an extended amount of time due to a Role-player either attempting to one-up every other character, lack of imagination or simply lethargic. Though usually it tends to simply be too much information. As I've seen with a friend who was once on this site, he started an RP called "Terminal Moraine" which had excellent characters which contrasted each other fairly well. There was a man with a sense of honor to family who rode the sky; a chimney sweeping machine given the ability to not only feel but comprehend the world in a newfound way; a man who travelled the land singing tales of heroes, an adventurer who hired various killers from a destitute city which doubled as a prison in search of treasures hidden in something I feel I have to quote.

".......And now their… leader had brought this tidy procession to a halt in front of a hole. Now, admittedly, it was a big hole. In the grand scheme of holes it could hold its head up with pride, and look down with distain on furrows, trenches, and that pariah of the hole world, the latrine. But as far as extravagant riches were concerned, it was lacking a certain something."
Though I am unsure as to who quit when and why, I honestly cannot say. But I feel that an immense amount of information was being put out and the Role-players probably had half a clue of just what the hell was going on. Though one could begin to see events in a world happening, it may have started a bit too expansive or just too many players. As for 1x1 on the other hand, this has been more successful in the past due to easier collaboration and communication. By viewing the OOC for Terminal Moraine, undoubtedly it can be said a lack of communication between each of the players and the GM though I cannot rule out lack of effort on any players other than a few more notable ones within Terminal Moraine.
