Plot
A shaman is someone who connects this world and the spirit world. In Shaman King, shamans team up with ghosts and spirits to achieve their goals. The greatest dreams of a shaman is to become the Shaman King, who is able to contact the Great Spirit (the spirit that every soul will eventually go back to) in order to be the savior of the world.
Yoh Asakura along with the aid of the 5 great elemental warriors(seven if you include ryu and faust) won the tournament to declare Shaman King and restored balance to the world of the spirit and living, effectively eliminating the cancer that was Hao Asakura. Yoh discontent with his victory somehow knew that Hao or some other evil would stand to threaten the stability of the world and that he could not always be there to protect it. Faced with this realization of his own mortality, Yoh could not find solace with this truth. It was by the suggestion of his wife Annah that Yoh along with the aid of the other elemental heroes decided to create a school for supernaturally gifted individuals. the primary objectives of the academy were to 1) Preserve the traditons of the various spiritual disciplines 2) promote peace and good will between people & nations 3) Protect the world from future threats like Hao.
Shaman King Academy is a non-canonical continuum of the original plotyline, set 14 years after the subsequent defeat of Hao in the Shaman King Tournament. Yoh in his heart of hearts knew that Hao still existed somewhere. He along with his father Mikihisa Asakura have gone on a reclusive quest to seek out Hao and eliminate his remaining essence, Yoh has appeared to have gone off the map(even the great detective Lyserg could not detech Yoh's presence) his whearabouts currently unknown, although the academy and his son stand as legacies for what he fought for.
Cliques and Groups
Student Body Council- The most powerful group in the school, is believed to be compromised of the top 10 ranking students in the school. This group is secretive so not much is known about the Student Body Council, they appear to be an esoteric club for hand picked elites. The only known way to be initiated into this club is to be invited by the council itself, the applicant is then subject to a notorious hazing process and if accepted is assigned a numerical ranking to solidfy their placement. Members of the student body wear a ring to signify their membership.
The Elementals-A group formed by the original elemental heroes to establish bonds long after the tournament , you have to be a descendant of either Yoh, Ren, Horo, Lyserg, Ryu, Faust or Choco to join.
Neo X-Laws- They wear all-white and appear to be influenced by the original X-laws. Their rivals are the Necrophyles. This is a public club open to new characters if they choose.
Necrophyles-This is a real bad group, stay away from them. They're a fairly new group that's gained a bit of a reputation for violence. They're considered a gang. They're at war with the Neo-X Laws. This is a public club open to new characters if they choose.
