Thread: The Secrets of a Ghost Girl (Lamp and Blue Tempest)

Loria couldn't help but smiling a little at the boys outright protest of her advice. He reminded her of herself, back when she was alive, determined to leave all this behind, go out to see the world, nothing holding her back. And, in some respect, she envied him, having the ability to do what she had always wanted. Yet, she also pitied and thought him an idiot. Of course what happened here didn't ultimately matter in the scheme of things, but that didn't mean you had to miserable because such an emotion was dangerous, something she knew better than anyone. "You're a bit smarter than a thought, there, pretty boy. But, openly pushing others away is not going to help you on your road to success. And it's quite dangerous around here. Can lead to misery and heartache, and worse..." she trailed off, staring off into the distance, suddenly lost in memories of her life which ended over a decade ago.

He raised a hand and waved it, "Yeah well... To be fair I'm used to it." He then turned towards the side and started to walk. "If it makes you feel better we can talk somewhere else." He led her towards the side of the building and away from where anyone else would look at them. "So I don't think you gave me a clear answer about what you said earlier. You say you don't want to leave here, or is it that you can't leave here?"

Loria was still lost in her brooding thoughts when she realized Lazlo was walking away. Having missed what he said, she had no choice but to follow him. Once they reached a spot well away from the eyes of the students eating lunch, he spoke again, but this time she was able to catch the words. She frowned at his question, slightly annoyed that he took the meaning of her words to be that she never left.

"I can leave." She said angrily. "Anytime I want. In fact, I do. All the time, I follow people home. I just like this place because it has the most knowledge. Well, there's here and the library. I go there sometimes at night, but it's so small I've read pretty much all of the interesting books." She stared at him, defiance in her eyes. She wouldn't have this boy thinking there was something else that drew and forced her back to this place, even if that was the truth.

He rolled this answer in his head for a while then just shrugged before leaning against a nearby tree. "So... I can hear you and see you." He wanted to know the 'rules' about a ghost so he held out his hand. "You seem to be able to grab onto things so... can I touch you?" It was a legit question as he wasn't sure if he could or if his hand would just pass right through her.

Loria raised her eyebrow at his question, at first feeling rather creeped out by his tone, but then soon realizing that he just meant did he have the ability to. "Of course you can touch me. I mean, you won't pass through me. No need to try now." She gave him a sharp glare. Then her face lightened up as she remembered something he would find humorous. "In fact, I can touch any living person. Can be rather annoying in crowds, but quite hilarious most of the time. I'll have to show you what I mean sometime." She resisted the urge to wink at him.

However, her expression quickly changed from one of humor to pondering as she thought about the fact that this boy could actually see her. "Allthough, I'm not sure why you can see me anyway...There was this other girl, once, who could. What's so special about you anyway?" With those words, she gave Lazlo an inspecting look as if she was trying to peer into his soul for the answer to her question.

He backed his hand away, realizing that if he could touch her then he was just being rude. When she made note of her ability to touch anyone, he couldn't help but chuckle at the idea of it. "I'd honestly like to see that sometime." He then sat down on the ground as he he coxed her to sit down with him. "I probably should've said this sooner but well... I'm sorry about what's happened to you. You clearly died way too young."

Loria's brow furrowed at his lack of response to her pondering about why he could see her, but attempted to wave the contemplation away as she sat down next to him on the ground and listened to him. In response to what he said, she turned her head to the side, trying to understand what would make him say such a thing. Was it something about the way she acted that made him think she cared she had died so young? Such a thing made her feel a pang of self-doubt. In life, she had always been one to wear her heart on her sleeve, making her an easy target, something that had obviously not turned out well for her. And she liked to think that in death she could be stronger, not let anyone know how she was feeling. But, the again, that was an easy task when there was no one who could even gleam what she was feeling. "What makes you say that?"

He shrugged, "Well it's obvious right? You're my age so you never got the chance to be an adult, follow your dreams, be with the love of your life and other stuff." It sounded cheesy and cliche, but it made sense to him at least. "So... I'm sorry that this happened to you." He looked a little uncomfortable as he wasn't sure what to even say or do in a situation like this. "Do... Do you want a hug?"

She blinked a few times at his first words. Of course, he just meant because she looked so young. Well, she assumed she looked as young as when she died. One after effect of being a ghost was no reflection and she had assumed, obviously correctly, that being dead also halted aging. As she heard his last words and offer for a hug, am uncomfortable somewhat disgusted look moved across her face. "Of course, I don't want a hug. Sheesh, what is this? Some kind of morbid after school special? I'm fine. Just because I died so young, doesn't mean I'm some kind of basket case."

He was taken aback by her reaction, but just shrugged it off before leaning back against the wall. "So tell me, you being invisible most people, are you privy to a lot of dark secrets of the school? Like are their any teachers who are having sex with the students or something like that?" In this fucked up world, he wouldn't be surprised at all if that turned out to be true.
