hmm... so so far we have a medic, 2 scientists 1 synthetic/mahine based, 1 bio based, a sniper, an explosives expert, a pair of CQCs, and le Captain. Looking good so far, lol, though I feel like we may be in need of a more mid-ranged fighter, maybe a spotter for our sniper or a Marksman with a light scope

I can't tell if Myke is standing on something or did an amazing job of timing a jump. I'd like to imagine it was a jump
    Neither, he is floating
I'm pretty sure he's just that tall
No he was on a table
I don't know.. Have you seen how tall he is?

Hm... Fair point Myke. I just took another look at the roster, and it seems we sorta have some mid-range people, Outlawed and Myself. Perhaps we could cover the spotter job. Somewhere on our armor, we could have a linked on cam, which feeds coordinates and footage to iByaah HUD within his helmet.

Of course, this is contingent on what iByaah and Outlawed say.

Hey everyone! I'm currently in the trenches of finals week at Uni, so I won't be around as often as I'd like to be. If my responses are slow; I assure you, I am not ignoring you. Promise! I'm just super crunched for time, so please bear with me!

Well from what I see so far, most of us are from UGC-001, yes? Which happens to go along with the Marine motto "every man is a rifleman," yes? In the case that we're preoccupied with something else, we should all be decent mid-range fighters.

Also with the spotting problem, VIs and advanced HUDs are your best friend.

feeding coordinates of enemies can easily be anyone's job, though usually that is the overwatch's job himself :P

and my definition of spotter is usually a two part kinda thing. Ionno, with my vast(haha I'm funny) military background knowledge, a sniper team, is usually a 2 person team, you have your shooter, and then your spotter. Spotter also serves as security, because usually a sniper will be too focused on his rifle, so therefore, the spotter also covers the sniper's ass. Also, staring through a scope usually strains the eyes, so spotter and sniper usually switch roles fairly often. But we are RP'ing super-soldiers, so we don't need my technical knowledge!!

On another note: I remembered I'm going to the beach for a week and a day tomorrow... What a bugger. I do believe my grandparents will be taking their junker laptop with them, so I will have some sort of access to the internet. But if that is not the case.... I will have to start way after you guys, maybe a last minute deployment or something,

I'd like to note that, IRL, mid-ranged fighters are used primarily as fire support. Special forces teams only engage in two positions--long ranged, and close quarters. If special forces engaged in mid-range, they'd be fighting a ground war, so why the hell bother using them instead of regular soldiers with tanks.

Long ranged is usually left to marksmen, but they provide good zoning abilities, so sometimes special forces integrate them into their ranks.

    Source: Compare these three articles.

The idea of "spotter-shooter" combos is mostly American and west-European. Eastern Europe ran their marksmen alone; the same with oriental countries.

My pedantry knows no bounds, huh? XD

Worry not, it never influences my behavior short of me giving people irrelevant lectures. As far as I'm concerned, suspension of disbelief is an important part to any work of fiction. I'm not disparaging Shakespeare's works just because some owl's head turns in a way that its vertebrae would not allow in real life.

I know this because my college roommate was a JROTC officer with the marines before he left and applied for college. He was always very interested in strategy and economics, and we'd have hours long discussions.

Hm... could iByaah use a proximity alarm of some sort? I'm just throwing ideas out there for right now. Also, I think he'll have HUD support, which should reduce some strain off of his targeting process.

Once again, iByaah has the final say concerning all of this ^^"

Edit: Very informative andecoco ^^! I didn't know about the lone wolfing eastern Europe or Oriental shooters.

lol while all this is true, I'd think that since, we're going to be in a variety of landscapes with little to no support, we should have all our bases covered, I mean, if we were going to just go through city buildings the whole time, i'd say yeah screw the mid-range, cqc and urban combat only, but my belief is that we will be in all sorts of places, so a wide range of peoples might be handy, but yes I do see what you're getting at, and it does make perfect sense lol xD

Like I said, I think our most inclined mid-range fighters are outlawed and myself. So, I think 2/9 is okay... but that's just me ^^".

Anyways, as I've promised, I'll post a link up to the IC later tonight.

Kanami, whenever you get the chance, finish up that CS and then ya can jump right in ^^!

By the way, doesn't everyone have some sort of ranged weapon? I mean the infected are going to straight up run at us. No question about that.

The enemies that will prove somewhat more challenging range-wise are the NRO, refugees, and machines.

I have a pistol, nonlethal incapacitating grenades, and an electroshock baton.

I think I shouldn't be involved in straight-up fights, lol

I have good hand to hand, a plasma knife, and a combat rifle. So I think that my character will be pretty good in all combat situations, but since she's a combat scientist she'll be the one people will protect and won't be fantasmal in high combat situations.
Which House In Westeros Do You Belong To?
    House Targaryen!

Fire cannot harm a dragon. You are strong, confident, bold, and strong. You are likely very wise and good at almost anything you apply yourself to and are quick to pick up both loyal soldiers, fierce friends, adoring fans, and obsessive lovers. There's no doubt that something about you is special and people see it reflected not only in your actions, which are based on a strong intuition you were born with, but also in your appearance. You sometimes just seem to know things and can use this to your advantage. You have a strong mind and are likely very intelligent and poetic and wholly good. You will see injustice and want to fix it. It's your nature. And since you have the blood of the dragon, fire doesn't hurt you. It just makes you more powerful. And fire can also be interpreted as conflict or danger. You are kind and beautiful and wise, like a dragon, but can turn fierce and deadly when angered. No one will want to wake the dragon in you. Targaryens have silver hair and violet eyes.
