Why Portland O_o
Welcome to Portland, Oregon, a city on the edge of secret warfare. For over a century a small community of wealthy and influencial citizens have secretly ran the city, using their power and influence to keep their city clean of any other major influences from the bureaucratic shadows.
In the 1980s the small elite kept the American Mafia from gaining a major foothold in the city, allying themselves with the Chinese Triad and the Japanese Yakuza. By the early 2000s many of the Triads had moved back to China after the economic explosion of the once Communist nation. It was in the void left by the departing Chinese that the American Mafia came back, stronger and more daring than ever.
Over the next ten years the small Portland elite would begin a secret war against the Mafia using law enforcement and city, even state, law as their weapons of choice while the Mafia perservered and created a foothold with assistance from local street gangs. In 2012 a true street war has broken out in the city, leading the FBI Organized Crime unit to send special agents from Washington DC to Portland, hoping to bunker in and begin to find the truth behind the Portland bloodshed.
When the mysterious Elite began to strike back it was in the manner of gore and violence that disturbed as many as it scared. After a retalitory mass murder the press has dubbed 'the Midnight Massacre' rumors of the Elite begun coming out and filling the ears of any Mafia and Federal agent who would listen.
The Elite weren't just priviledged and greedy and controlling; the Elite had a truer purpose--to protect Portland. When the natural question came both from Mafia and Federal agents of "Protect Portland from what?" it brought the answer that changed everything:
"They call it 'The Long Night'. When the sun will never rise again."
---
A noir inspired game, with a murder mystery at it's core. 'The Elite' of Portland have been secretly outed as Vampires, though even this revelation is far from everything it seems on the surface. (More on the 'Vampires' in the OOC.)
The Mafia has grown strong and is now a major force in Portland, having pried the Portland Police Department from Elite control and into Mafia hands--even as some cops don't answer to any master, determined to find truth themselves.
Those cops have gotten much needed help from the new FBI Organized Crime unit in Portland; each agent is a specialist, and most are former military and/or former members of the 'intelligence community.' They are talented, driven, have a ton of resources, and are a true force to be reckoned with even on the current secret war scene.
Play a Mafioso, Federal Agent, 'Vampire', or anything inbetween and jump into the secret war for these strange streets as an ancient evil begins to change the very nature of the war going on.
Only looking for four to six players.

I can't imagine vampires settling in New Mexico? And the Eastern seaboard seemed a little crowded to me. =)

They're not vampires. They're 'vampires'. (Which is to say, the classic and modern vampire...they are not.)

Can you explain the "vampires" in more detail, please? What differentiates these from the traditional, sparkly type?
They're born, not 'created'. They're an evolutionary offshoot that has found a way to survive in the fringes of society. They have a history and language all their own, and despite being very small in number have been able to influence history from the shadows in their subtle ways.
Every story starts with a basis in reality. They are the reason for Stoker's Dracula and Meyer's 'Sparkle-Vampire', the reason for the legends and the myths and stories.
They have certain advantages, especially at night. Sunlight isn't fatal to them, but it's certainly not good for them (the skin dries and cracks, blood and puss begin to seep as their bodies begin to swell, etc--it's like an allergic reaction...just an extreme one) and overexposure can easily kill them much faster than a normal human being.
They do, however, feed on blood. (Although the Portland Conclave is much more humane than most.)
Like humans, each 'vampire' is slightly different than the next, leaving the player to fill in the details of their 'vampire' character however they want. It was important to let people feel like they have something unique and far from a cookie-cutter character.

Okay then. I suppose I'd be interested in this sort of thing.
