    Failure. Failure, Failure.

That word kept repeating itself in Mina's mind as a cough sounded from her, having been completely caught off guard. Such a stupid mistake. She should have fled the second she'd seen one of her other comrades shot down. Should have left the moment her target had been immobilized. Greed had taken the best of her, and now that she was on her side against the concrete, it gave her a second or two to think on it.

    The others wouldn't wait.

    Wouldn't come back.

It was part of their code. Those fallen were left behind in such situations... and whoever had blasted her, they hadn't been holding back. Either they had recognized her, or they hadn't wanted to take any chances. After all, she was the invading force here. This area was beyond their territory and she had known it when she was hunting Malakai down.

Consciousness was slipping from her, and for the red head, the next few moments slipped into darkness for now.

Not far, Malakai was hardly believing his luck, being helped up, he winced, quite aware of the amount of blood on his features. Most likely, there would be some awful bruising as well later... blinking at the woman's comment, "I just took a fucking high-heeled boot to the face. Of course it's a mess." He responded dryly, eying her skeptically at this point. Unsure whether or not these people were actually here to help after what he had just dealt with... though, he chuckled a little at her threat, "How do you think I got in this mess? I don't like to use my abilities unless I'm threatened, so calm down there. The name's Malakai. Malakai Thornson. Was looking for the clan in this area... heard they took most any form of person in looking for protection."

He glanced off towards where the other was. Most likely, that man was in the same situation as himself.

It didn’t take long before Burim returned to Kayla with Mina over his shoulder. Kayla nodded at Burim. “Good job,” she said and smiled to the man. That was one more chess piece in the game. Kayla looked at Malakai. “So it’s you. You’ve got toxic gasses, no?” she asked. “We’ve been keeping an eye on you, and if you’re wondering, you’re very much at the right place. We’ll happily take you and the ghost over there in,” she said and nodded towards Casper.

She paused for a while and looked at Mina. “They made it quite far into our territory,” she commented. Kayla looked at the stunning beauty that was over Burim’s shoulder and felt the jealousy build up. The black-haired girl found it strange that someone so pretty could be so strong at the same time. Mina sure had been lucky with her powers. She shook her head and turned to Malakai again, a neutral feeling on her face. “My name is Kayla Mitri ,” she said, studying Malakai from head to toe. “And this rescue squad is from The Shattered Rock. You’re welcome to join our clan.”

"I see word travels quickly." Malakai commented, not sure if he liked the way she was eying him, "It's more than just toxic gas... that's just one of the more convenient, less-harmful, ways to expel it without hurting myself." He corrected, "Quite frankly, every aspect of my being is laced with some type of poison. Makes getting close to people difficult..." He muttered the last part.

It was that detail about him that made a lot of clans avoid him.

Even with learned control over his power, there were still accidents from time to time. Even just a drop of his blood could be lethal if it mixed with another's. Acting like a venom in a person's blood stream, and considering what he had just gone through... he was sure most likely it had shifted more towards that lethal edge in pure reaction to the sensed danger.

Glancing towards the man who had picked Mina's unconscious form up, he grimaced a little. Valuable in strength and knowledge or not, Malakai didn't want that little red headed serpent anywhere near him. Just the fact that she was beautiful was enough to ward him away. He knew better than that. Needless to say, he had witness the true nature of that woman up close and personal.

He didn't want to have such a close encounter with her like that again.

"You're going to keep a tight leash on that one, right?" He questioned, uneasy about the idea of her being brought along, fixing his glasses that miraculously hadn't been broken from Mina's attack to his face, having taken them off to wipe blood off the lenses with the edge of his shirt, putting them back on his face.

The Shattered Rock... yes, it was the very clan that had drew him here. It was glad to know he was on the right track, "I didn't come all this way to get attacked and almost capture for nothing." He joked lightly.

Kayla smiled, her green eyes flickering. “So I guess you’re as dangerous as they say,” she said. She liked dangerous people. If they could get a hold of their powers, they could be useful. Very useful. “Don’t worry. We’ll teach you how to get a hold of your powers in no time,” she said with a grin. “We’ll just have to take some risks in the beginning, but if you learn to control your powers, you’ll be useful to us,” she continued. She knew that those risks might end the life of some, but she already had a plan. She would make Malakai sleep isolated from everyone else until he knew how to control his powers. That wasn’t her decision, though. She’d have to talk with someone of higher rank first.

Kayla looked over at Mina. “Of course we’ll keep her on a tight leash. I bet she’s one with a spirit, that’s why we’re going to get a siphoner to drain her of her powers. It’ll be safer that way, and we get to make use of her powers. Do you know anything about the invisible one, yet?” she said and nodded towards Casper. He was talking with someone else from The Shattered Rock. “He’ll be joining us by the looks of it, and you’ll probably learn to control your powers together with him. You might know how to control yourself somewhat, but we’re going to teach you everything from the beginning, just so you don’t miss out on anything.”

"Drain her of her powers..." Malakai could never get used to hearing that. Even in reference to someone like Mina, he still felt the urge to cringe. Even though she had been set on doing the same to him. It just seemed... cruel. Then again, it was the most logical way to deal with someone with such a destructive ability as fire. A single flame by itself could wipe out enough if given the right fuel. Fire in the hands of a angry violent woman? He almost shuddered at the thought.

    Women alone were psychotic.

"Starting with beginners?" He muttered, glancing back to where the other was, still not knowing the man's name even though he had ended right in the middle of everything somehow.

"So that's going to be our new guy?" A male voice sounded, a dark haired male appearing, grinning brightly, bright shocking electric yellow eyes nearly glowing in the dark. The air crackling a little, causing Malakai's hair to stand clear up on the end in result from the static.

Well, now he know who had been hurling lightening bolts.

"Name's Aubrey. Nice to meet ya'." He grinned, looking back a bit farther towards the other, "Is that the ghost boy back there?"

Kayla nodded to Malakai. ”Yup, you’re on the bottom of the ranks now, toxic man,” she said and grinned mischievously to him. Her hair suddenly lifted a bit, and she could tell whose presence was nearby without looking. She didn’t really like the electric powers of Aubrey. Electricity scared her more than anything. It was such a wild power, so fearsome. You didn’t need very strong electricity powers to seriously injure someone. She looked at Aubrey. “Yeah, he goes invisible. Quite a useful power, don’t you think? He could check out the other territories if he learns to control his powers.. And gets a better drug, perhaps. I mean, he’s not even invisible now, but with a better drug, he surely will be,” she said. “And I’m sure the Watchers would be able to feel his presence, just like they do with everyone who’s got a beating heart.” She sighed. Maybe the invisible one wouldn’t come so much in handy after all. One Watcher, and he’d be down.

Casper looked around, looking for the one who’d gotten him into all the trouble. It didn’t take long to spot that destroyed face, and when he did, he made his walk over to the small group. He cleared his throat to get their attention. “Thank you for saving the two of us,” he said, nodding to both Aubrey and Kayla. It felt awesome that this gang would be part of his clan. They were strong people, people who offered protection, and that relieved him. “My name is Casper Ferriell, and I’m pleased to be part of your clan,” he said with a smile.

There was something really likable about this girl. Malakai couldn't lie about that. something about her personality that appealed to him, Though, he took in the sight of the male who had introduced himself as Aubrey. At the oldest, he had to be only seventeen or eighteen. Just a kid. His body small in build, lithe, thick black hair falling shaggy and long, hanging nearly to his shoulder blades. His power certainly seemed to suit his personality, that boy seeming to be one of the most lively in the group at the moment. That, or he was just overly excited to see new people.

He almost reminded Malakai of some kind of puppy.

Glancing towards the male who until now he had only known referred to as 'ghost boy' or 'invisible man' he offered a smile when he introduced himself, "Nice to meet you... Casper..." He couldn't help but snort a little. Casper? Oh, the irony, "I'm Malakai Thornson..." Before he could say anything else, Aubrey chirped up, "And I'm Aubrey Kiren. Do, what's it like to go invisible? Is it cool? Oh, can you sneak into girl's showers? Dude, that would be so awesome!" He practically bounced with excitement, Aubrey coming to a walk right next to Casper. seeming intrigued with the other's ability, Malakai casting a look towards Kayla, "Is... he always so... hyper?"

”Aubrey!” Kayla said slightly shocked and bumped Aubrey’s arm with her elbow. “Don’t ask such things out here! Haven’t you got even the slightest idea of what a first-impression is?” she continued. There was really nothing to do about it. Aubrey had been that way ever since she first met him, and he’d probably stay this way for ever. She had nothing against such an energetic guy as him, but sometimes she wanted to make a good first impression, and Aubrey wasn’t exactly what you’d call the right guy to make a good one. Kayla looked at Malakai once she heard his question. She raised her eyebrows and nodded slowly while smiling weakly. “He’s always been this way,” she said. “You’re gonna get used to it.”

Burim chuckled at Aubrey’s comment, but other than that, the brute said nothing.

Casper had never thought of using his powers in such ways. Even the thought of it made him feel uneasy. He shook his head. “No, no, no,” he said and sighed. “I can’t even control my invisibility yet. It just turns on sometimes. That’s often when I don’t want it to happen, like just now,” he said as a smile grew on his face. He liked this person called Aubrey. “And even when I do go invisible, I’m not even fully invisible. I don’t even know how to describe it, but I would’ve shown you if I could. And your powers are electricity, I guess?” he said and looked at Aubrey. He could feel the static electricity like an aura around Aubrey. He found it cool to have at least talked to someone with as awesome powers as that. If he’d only been more lucky.

Kayla had grown to like both Malakai and Casper’s personalities so far. She guessed they’d both be useful to the clan. She couldn’t wait to guard their territory with them. At least she could group up with Malakai, but Casper, maybe not so much. What would an invisible man do in a fight? Their training take a while, but they’d learn to control their powers soon enough.

"First impressions? Bah, who needs that?" Aubrey shot a charming grin towards Casper, "Forget the girls, they're too sensitive." He mused, "Stick with us bros and you'll be doin' good. We'll have you sneaking in and stealing panties in no time. They won't even know you were ever there." His voice at this point had shifted more so towards teasing, the kid not seeming to mind the age difference between him and some of the other males.

After all, he had more than earned his place here in the clan. As destructive as his power could be, it was also valuable. Much like how Mina, still draped over Burim's shoulder like a wet rag, was the trump card of one of their rival clans. Eventually, Aubrey's childishness would fade as he grew older... or he'd end up as one of those kids who never quite grew up. It was hard to determine at his age.

Malakai chuckled a bit, appreciating the light mood the boy provided, "Eh, as long as I don't get zapped, we'll be good." he mused, glancing towards Kayla. Curious about her at this point, "So what's your little special power?" He questioned, glancing ahead briefly.

Casper sighed. He was simply too old to be peeking at girls in the shower. “I’m a bit past the age when peeking at girls is a lot of fun,” he said, turning Aubrey’s suggestions down. “I’d.. rather use my powers for useful things, like.. I don’t know,” he said, and he couldn’t hold back a smile. There was something about Aubrey that he liked. He was so full of personality, and he wasn’t afraid to show it.

Kayla smiled at Malakai’s comment, but frowned slightly at his question. She wasn’t one who usually just gave away information like that, but for once, she decided to do it. “I control geologic material, like dirt or rocks,” she answered. Kayla made it sound so plain and boring, and that was the idea of it. Controlling such things could mean that, if she had a very good drug and good training, she could be able to cause a small earthquake, but she usually sticked to throwing stones and dirt at her enemies from long range.

“It’s gotta be quite easier to control than going invisible or being a toxic man,” she said and shrugged. “At least I’m not hurting myself or others if I do anything wrong.” That was a comment meant for Malakai in particular. She’d said it with a teasing tone in her voice not to make it sound like she was being mean.
