A week ago a letter arrived at your door step signed only with an upright pentagram with a stylized S in the center. The letter was from the Viedrigaeli, a guild of demonhunters that had manipulated Serene politics for over two thousand years, ever since Zafaerael, first of the watchers had, blessed humanity with his angel's blood. It had been a long time since your services were required, a very long time indeed.

You open the letter and pore through it once, blink and read again. The cult of Dashayr, a shadowy organization determined to bring Serene into the hands of their demonic masters, had stepped out of the shadows. Two guardians were already dead, and already demons that had not been seen since the War of the Fall had started to plague Varyn. Your mission, the letter demanded, was two-fold, destroy the cult of Dashayr, and contain the damage that had already been caused. With a sigh you strap prepare to head back to a service you'd thought... Or hoped had forgotten you.

These are the current basics of the world's geography, more will be added here as the story progresses.
The world is known as Varyn and is divided into three basic zones. Serene, homeland of the Viedrigaeli and the other nephilim, The Ryse which are a collection of modern day countries bordering Serene to the north and the west.
And to the south across the Sea there lies the continent of Geathon which is made up of pantheistic and polytheistic cultures who worship the watchers of Varyn as gods.

Name: Trey Vander

Basic Race: Human

Angelic Traits: a set of wide golden wings which are almost draconic in appearance. A tattoo on his left arm of the word Tandayel in angelic script.

Other Traits: Trey is part werewolf, not enough to where he transforms, but enough that he craves raw red meat during a full moon.
Powers: can control fire and shadows. His werewolf blood gives him the ability to speak to animals

BACKGROUND: Trey was born and raised in Da'Morela, a Geathonic country bordering the Anastar Desert. He discovered his powers on his Nineteenth birthday when he fell into a temple fire and emerged unscathed, with fire poring from his hand. Unfortunately at this time so did a member of the cult of Dashayr, who had been in the Anastar Desert delegating with one of the demons that had been bound in the mortal realm. The member kidnapped Trey and spirited him away to Zarathet, the capital of a Dananet at the heart of the Ryse.

Lady Arathelle, the then leader of the Viedrigaeli, had come to Dananet to personally investigate the rumors of a Dashyr gathering and had discovered the boy. He was rescued, and began to train as a demonhunter.

Four years ago he went back to the Anastar Desert to slay the demon that the people of Da'Morela had unknowingly been worshipping. When he returned it was to discover Lady Arathelle dead, and his name forgotten. He began to live a life that was normal by serene standards.

This is an organization which is shadowy and little known even to the general populace of Serene. Most people's only contact with them occurs annually during the Feaste of Saint Brighid, the Viedrigaeli hold a series of tests and physicals to determine not only who has the richest stock and strain of Angelic blood, but also who is most capable of being trained to be a demonhunter. Few are openly chosen to be demonhunters, and those who show the strongest prowess are sent away. Three or four days later, a representative of a serene bureaucracy known as the Theria are sent to the homes of those chosen to be demonhunters. They are invited to a meeting in the Theria headquarters where they discover that the Viedrigaeli they are familiar with is a front operation. And is actually concerned more with International espionage and diplomacy.

Both arms of the Viedrigaeli, the open and the covert were at one point ran by a woman known as the lady Arathelle. However, during the war with the Son of Storms she was slain, and a mysterious man known as S took over operations.

It is unknown at the start of Boom One whether Lord S took over operation immediately following Lady Arathelle's death, but during the four years following Arathelle's demise it was suspected that the Viedrigaeli had been disbanded and fallen out of power. As such many minor demons had begun to plague the cities, as they had in the days before Zafarael gave his gift to mankind.

During the years of Viedrigaeli power, doctors and mid-wives in the Ryse would be on the look out for any nephilistic child, and they would switch out any positive testing children for Serene's non nephilistic children. This is where the concept of a changeling came from.

Name: Jar'Rok

Age: 70 (young by his race's standards)

Gender: Male

Race: "Warrior Angel" (common term for a race whose true name was lost long ago), also called "Avian"

Appearance: Jar'roc has very dark skin which bears scarification patterns and natural patterns of slightly lighter skin. His dark black hair is closely cropped and his eyes are a ghostly white, with no discernable pupil. He also bears large wings of razor sharp feathers of a silver color.



Weaponry/Talents: Mild natural magic (elemental manipulation, but only used out of necessity). Claws on wings and retractable finger claws that are naturally stronger than manmade steel (Elf-steel has been known to cut claws and feathers of warrior angels). Wings have sharp, strong feathers and are used as weapons and shields in close combat. Two rapiers fastened under wings, and an assortment of throwing knives are hidden in armor. Carries a longbow and a quiver of quartz-tipped arrows. (no more than 150, and he always retrieves them when he can, as quartz has magical properties).

Personality: Naturally reserved, but quick to anger. He prefers to observe, but defends those he cares about with all his might.

Bio: Jar'Rok comes from a reserved, little-known demon hunter race that can live for up to a thousand years. At 65 years, he left his village in search of the perfect hunt, and came to hear about an unusual force of magical energy far in the north. He followed the rumors until he eventually came to the anomaly, which he discovered to be a powerful beacon of magical energy coming from another world. In an attempt to investigate, he was pulled into the alternate world, and he lost contact with his old life. Since then, he has been searching this new hunting grounds for the ultimate hunt, and for a way back to his own world.

Four years ago, Jar'roc encountered an ice demon and pursued the creature in a hunt, not knowing that the Viedrigaeli had already laid claim to it. Impressed by the physical ability and skill that he had, they brought word back to Lady Arathelle, who kept watch over him in secret. As he continued in his exploits, not knowing he was under Viedrigaeli surveillance, Arathelle began a search for a new portal knowing that should Jar'roc come to be needed, a portal could be a suitable reward.

Other: Jar'roc comes from a society that is bisexual. Members of his culture may be homosexual, straight, bisexual, or even asexual. But due to the emphasis on the hunt, none of the Warrior Angels has really cared to discriminate, so sexuality became an accepted part of life.

As for Jar'roc himself, he is bisexual. Though he would never admit it, he craves closer relationships, but he does not act on it. This can sometimes lead others to think that he is cold and heartless.

Name: Drake Redgrave

Basic Race: Human

Angelic Traits: Has black angel like wings.

Other Traits: Vampire blood flows through his veins. He has fangs and craves blood but doesn't burst into flames in the sun.

Powers: Electricity

Background: Drake was working in his father's blacksmith area when he got struck by lightning. Not only did it not do anything to him he looked and saw that his body had sparks coming out of it. Unfortunately his dad wasn't the only one who saw it. The majority of the town did. This didn't help the fact that that he was feared by the town already for being a vampire.

After this he was recruited by Lady Arathell into the Viedrigaeli. He was trained there for many years in demon hunting. When Lady A finally passed Drake pretty much disappeared. He had to find a place where there was so much crime that a few criminals missing no one would notice.

Angelic Traits: Jack glows in the dark; a simple pale luminescence that is bright enough to read by, and makes it very hard for him to hide at night. He also glows during the day, but it is of course less obvious.

Other Traits: See powers

Powers: Jack is immune to magical effects; instead he absorbs the mana and disperses it as a flash of light. So, a thrown fireball would leave him unscathed, and a magic blade would only hurt as much as a normal wound. This power stops at his skin; any clothing or equipment he carries is just as succeptable to magical interference as anything else. He also is unable to cast even the most simple of spells because of his own condition. He also is very physically fit and proficient with a large number of weapons.

Personality: Arrogant, self-centered, and vain. Jack's story will be one of discovering the value of others and finding a taste of humility.

Bio: Jack was chosen from his town to join the Demon Hunters in the normal tournament on the feast of Saint Brighid. While physically fit and strong, his true strenght comes from the fact that he is immune to magical effects; a power that was extreemely effective in a town filled with part-angelic magic users. Jack was sent for training under a Master Gordon Belgad; who instructed his apprentice in the use of several different weapons. Shortly before his apprenticeship was to end, his master's secluded mountain cottage was attacked by a pair of demons. In the ensuing battle, Gordon was killed and Jack managed to slay one of the demons, while the other escaped. Jack has since started rebuilding the cottage, and living a solitary existence, thinking that the Demon Hunters had all but forgotten about him... until the day a mysterious letter appears on his doorstep.

Appearance: Jack stands just over six foot tall, handsome and well muscled, he weighs close to 200lbs. His hair is a pale blonde, not quite platinum, and his eyes are green. His skin is slightly paler than average, but not albino by any stretch. When it is dark, it is easy to notice that Jack's skin gives off a steady pale light, about the color of moonlight, which is as strong as a pair of candles.
