wahh!!! i had no idea people would begin posting profiles so soon... while i'm excited at all the interest, i feel like there's a lot to explain about different things before you can fill out the sheet correctly. all the information i posted wasn't even everything you need to know. there's a lot about the setting and society that i didn't include there. i just wanted to give a general plot idea to see who was interested.

if you've never played a shin megami tensei or persona game, i suggest you brush up on them to understand the concept of demons and personas. some important things to notice are that they are all based off of real mythological characters and creatures. you can't just make up a character and make it a persona or demon. if you want something truly unique, do some research to find the perfect myth to suit your character.

personas also are not continuously summoned like demons can be. personas become physical briefly when called upon, perform a skill, then vanish again. i realize this doesn't make sense with the dramatic intro (in that the kid's persona could fly and brought him to safety)... i didn't write that and i never really edited it. you can't really talk and chat with your persona. it speaks to you only when it deems it important, and usually it will only speak in cryptic riddles or a very old dialect of your native language.

each persona also belongs to a major arcana of the tarot deck. the arcana represents the background, personality, and fate of your character. look up interpretations of the tarot deck to decide which arcana your persona would be in.

you don't have to choose personas that have already been in the shin megami tensei series, though. you can create your own so long as it's a viable character. some non-mythical personas are allowed too. for example: Peter Pan, Joan of Arc, Anastasia, etc. Usually some amount of legacy must be attributed to these figures for them to be valid as personas.

also, this RP takes place only in america (at least, in the beginning). there is no contact to the rest of the world, and it is presumed that all countries had fallen to the demons. therefore, if your character is foreign, they (or their parents) must have had a reason to be in america during the destruction, trapping them there.

also i know this is probably really controlling and nitpicky but i will probably be requesting that people use photographs for character pictures (models or whatever are fine), just because i'm aiming for a realism kind of approach, despite the crazy set-up. for personas and demons, though, illustrations are definitely acceptable. i'll also probably allow people to play several characters, but i might restrict the number of players, and i might ask for writing samples. this RP concept is my baby and i'm gonna try to raise it really well. not to say anything about you guys, just a fair warning.

oh, as for high schools, there are only really two or three main plot-central schools that characters will come from. i haven't decided their names or locations as of yet.

OH YEAH and another thing about the SMT series. demon and persona skills are usually recurring throughout the series and different personas/demons. magic skills have special names that are constructed based on their functions. look them up for ideas on skills. i will allow you to make up new skills as long as you at least try to keep up with the theme when naming them.

okay at this point i'm just spitting out ideas like creative diarrhea, but what the hey.

i am considering having all student soldiers wear tactical armor custom-made for their class as part of army protocol. stuff that's not far off from what soldiers today wear... just a bit more lightweight. (of course, this is only for missions. they can have other clothes and gear later on.)

yeah, or pictures are also optional, as proven by Nostavados's description of his persona. his persona is also a good example of what a persona should be. nyx and hypnos are also valid, though (but i don't know if using a picture of ryoji makes a lot of sense for nyx :P)

Here's a character i made a long time ago, who i think i will most likely scrap (he's kind of a marty stu). But it gives an idea of what a profile should look like. Obviously it's kind of old because it doesn't take tactical armor into consideration for his appearance and such... but, well, it might help.

Brief Background Synopsis: Connor lived a normal life as a child up until about age 13, when he admitted to himself that he was in love with his best friend, Derek. His love was unrequited, though, as Derek was straight. After a series of events, Connor was so fed up with the confusion and heartache that he stopped talking to his best friend altogether. Soon after this, the Great Destruction occurred, and Derek was killed by a demon. Although racked with guilt for never reconciling with his friend, Connor continued to live life with a happy, carefree demeanor. While he is an outgoing and friendly person, he is very shy and sensitive when it comes to opening up to people. He doesn't want to make other people feel bad. However, as a result of bottling up his emotions, he sometimes explodes on everyone, remaining quiet all day and snapping at the weaknesses of those who disturb him, whether it be friend or foe. He takes all criticism to heart, often making it difficult for him to remain close to some people. He hates holding grudges, and is very loving of anyone who makes him feel safe and wanted, and is deeply hurt when someone he sees in this way disappoints him. This results from his aversion to physical pain, which also sparked his decision to fight with a spear in order to avoid getting too close to an enemy and taking pain.

Appearance:

Connor is somewhat on the short size for his age, at 5'6". He is also lightweight, weighing in at about 110 lbs. Because of his physique, strength isn't his strong point. For this reason, he prefers to use a spear or other pole-arm, allowing for quick footwork and evasiveness. His fighting style sometimes resembles a sort of violent, constantly flowing dance. Connor usually wears light clothing and armor to allow for this kind of movement. He often wears a blue Kevlar hoodie over a lightweight white t-shirt and regular cargo shorts of assorted colors, with navy & white sneakers or rugged brown flip-flops (but only if going barefoot would be dangerous). Connor has a light-colored brown hair of a boyishly long length, and big hazel eyes that almost make him look three years younger than his actual age.
