Desmond walked through the hallway, staring at the ground. He kept his head down as he weaved through people, glancing up to say hello to strangers as he passed. None said anything back, but Desmond was alright with that. He always would be.
A smile lit his face as he entered the classroom; he made his way to the back where only one seat was left. The corner seat. A blonde sat in the seat next to the open one and looked up when Desmond entered. As he approached the spot next to hers she glanced at her friends and smirked. Kicking her feet up onto the desk Desmond had just put his backpack down on, she sneered at him. “Taken.” She growled, but Desmond didn’t seem to hear the venom in her tone. He lifted his bag and put it back onto his shoulder. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to. I just thought it was empty. Sorry for bothering you.. Have a nice day.” Desmond flashed her a wide smile before turning to find another seat. Behind his back the girl sniggered as she lowered her feet from the desk, turning to her friends. “I figured the fag could sit somewhere else.” They laughed.
“Ah.. Is this seat taken?” He asked a boy sitting in the middle of the classroom, and sat down without waiting for a response. He seems all alone anyway.. But I’ll move if he tells me to. Thought Desmond quietly to himself as he put his bag down on the floor next to him. He took out a notebook and a pencil then cast the boy next to him a sideways glance.
