Brovo, I like your formulatic approach to it. That should be made into a poster somewhere.

I have a Graphics Shop now. Graphics Shops are cool.
I run a roleplaying site too!

The sooner you can turn anything into a step by step program, the easier it is to do. *Shrug*

Even Alcoholic's Anonymous has several steps you go through. Not that I would know of course.

Besides, if RP's seem so massive and hard to coordinate, why not just take the massive puzzle, put it into pieces, figure out the pieces, and then put it back together in whatever order you want now that you understand it?

I day dream a lot and look at a lot of non-fiction stuff for inspiration for things. Mind-Uploading is scary.

I usually get my inspiration from fantasy, whether it be a video game, novel or some other media. I enjoy sci-fi as well, but I'm mostly a fantasy type of person.

I'll admit a novel I'm working on that I hope to get published in the future is a collage of plots, types of characters and themes I've taken from many sources of media. Of course the keys are A) I enjoyed the items I just listed and B) I've altered them much like Brovo's step by step process, though I didn't think about it in steps.

So if you have writer's block, think about a plot twist/arc that you particularly liked, add or take away some elements and make it your own. I've done this plenty of times over the... Oh dear... Nearly six years I've been roleplaying.

    (Minus the physical part *cough*)

    ^This.
The dark rises gradually by day
Deny and turn our eyes from it we may
A fragrance of decay is exhaled
Out of Death's bitter lips, and pale
Tis' be our end, by our will, our hand,
But no one could have foreseen it so grand.
The triange of Life, Dreams and Hope collides
As I behold where forever dies,
    Clawing, scratching, groping everywhere
For an inch, an inch of what once gave me life,
Of the memories that make me feel oh, so alive.
    But you're not there...

    I'm sick of failing.
    Tired of working.
    Done with trying.
    Sure, I'm laughing.
    Yet inside I'm dying.
    Hey I just met you
    And this is crazy
BUT I'M ABOUT TO KILL YOU
    So silence maybe

I play a LOT of D&D. My dad is old school and played the beta testing stuff with Gary Gygax, as such I grew up with D&D books all around me all of my life, letting it leech in even when I was 8 using the books to make a fortress for my toys I would look at the pictures and read the completely nonsensical charts. Fast forward 20 years and I've been gaming almost every week for two decades.

Anyways, it sounds like minmaxing but I takes one thing, say the skill JUMP and I will build everything I have around that one skill. Jump uses strength, so now I have a super strong jumper, every feat or magic item is put to jumping or strength to increase his jumping, every class has access to some way to increase his Jump skill even if that means that he just has to specialize his strength. When taken to the Nth degree I made a perfectly legal character from level 1-20 using the 3.5 D&D rules who now has a one time posting (one round) maximum strength of 68 which is strong enough to lift 308 TONS over his head. All so he can feel the wind on his face as he soars from one place to the next when he jumps down the road.

I'm always thinking of fantasy and science fiction and movies. It's just who I am as a person. Creative to the bone.

However I have recently discovered that I am most efficent with writing and coming up with ideas when watching a movie. I let the themes and characters of that movie seep into my story in one way or another. I'm not stealing, just taking bits and pieces from loads of different movies and putting it into a new, more potent mix that blends genres and stereotypes into something more interesting and new.

For instance I may watch the movie "Lord of the Rings" and then watch "Zulu" and then I suddenly think. What if Zulu was set in a fantasy universe? Instead of Zulu warriors it's monsters and instead of british officers it's knights defending a castle?

    That's what I call inspiration.

    (please respond)

    Life

“Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the Imperial Guard, and your doom is upon you. "
