Blake stood beside the console, his eyes watching the power levels of the feed to the generator, as his team worked around him calling out details about the experiment; “so far so good” he said to himself “the power is steady… HOW ARE THOSE RADIATION READINGS?” he called out. A response was called from the far side of the room “STEADY AT 95 REMS” he shouted, Blake nodded and turned his head up towards the back of the room. Looking up he was able to see the metal ‘doorway’ into which all that power was flowing, the energy contained within was causing arcs of energy to cross between the edges. He watched as the energy arcs converged into the centre of the metal frame, he turned to look down at the dial once more, a small frown crossing his face as he noticed that the dials had moved upwards. He started worrying as it continued to move, “something is wrong” he said as he watched the portal ‘tared’ open; and then it stopped, the energy levels settled on a lower level within the acceptable levels, “we did it” he shouted.
All around him his team was cheering, each calling out their stations readings, “yes… we did it… he have successfully opened a portal” he said to himself. Blake stepped forwards to stand before the portal, one of the others taking his spot, his mind taking in every detail about the portal. It appeared as a green ball of energy standing between the frames edges, small arcs of green energy spanning the gap between it and the frame, blake turned his head to look at one of his assistances “quick… get the probe… we need to put it through… we don’t know how long it will last” he said. The man reached behind him and picked up a small silver sphere with a series of antennas around it, he quickly passed it to Blake who took it and ‘threw’ it through the portal. And the sphere approached the edge of the energy sphere a bolt of energy jumped to the ball and disappeared, Blake turned to the man who had handed him the sphere and asked “so?... are we getting any readings?”, the man nodded “yes sir… atmosphere is good… gravity is good… radiation… below threshold points… it looks good for live testing” he said.
Blake nodded and prepared to step forwards at the portal, but was stopped by the sound of one of his assistances at the power station calling out trouble, “SIR… ITS DRAWING MORE POWER… ITS GOING TO OVER LOAD” they called. Blake turned to say something to the man but didn’t manage to get a single word out, as the machine exploded it send a blast of the green energy outward swallowing blake and destroying the lab all together, as he was swallowed by the energy blake fell unconscious.
Blake felt a slight pain in his head, as he laid there against the ground after having been thrown out the other side of the portal, his mind foggy after the journey. He slowly moved his arm to feel his head and used the other to push himself into a sitting position, his eye adapting to the light around him revealed that he was sitting in a green field with several other people. As he awoke more his mind started working through what happened, “shit… it must have overloaded... I wonder if this is the other world” he said to himself, he looked around noting that several other people were also laying on the ground and awakening after what he assumed was traveling through the portal. Blake slowly started to stand up, as he did so he shifted his hand along the ground bumping into a small metal container; as he stood he picked up the cylinder. Blake finished standing up and looked down at the cylinder and noted that there were 3 small balls of a blue liquid within it.
