Biography
Saiga had it all. A famous grandfather (Five Time World Karate Champion, Shirasagi Hayato), Money out the ass and access to the best trainers in karate an aspiring martial artist could want. From the time he turned four, he had his body wrapped in a gi and armored with sparring pads. Alaric learned quickly, and at 10 years of age, could take out boxers a couple years his elder and with many more sparring sessions worth of experience. Somehow, everything just clicked. His fighting instinct and speed were perfect, vastly outweighing the hotheaded, cocky nature of his personality.
Nothing much really happened to him until the age of fifteen, when he joined a professional martial arts league, the Japan Under Eighteens. He quickly rose the ranks, undefeated, and gathered a lot of attention from the media, the martial arts world, and the fighting underworld. Why? simple. He just came out of freaking nowhere to being a record breaking Under-Eighteen Champion.
However, the fame and strength started getting to his head, inflating his ego to ridiculous levels. At the age of sixteen, he had seen more of the "High Life" than anyone, having messed around with drugs, women and other sorts of wild crap. As a matter of fact, four felonies rest on his record to this day. His grandfather kicked him out of the house, and Saiga went without a fight. His home was the underworld anyway, and he had no problem with Home Sweet Home.
This kept going, until one day, about two months before he graduated middle school. His grandfather came looking for him, figuring it was about time for Saiga to find out who he really wanted to be, now that he had seen the good bad and ugly of the world. Siegfried caught up with Saiga, and they agreed to have a fight on a professional ring, one-on-one, ten rounds, traditional mixed martial arts rules (since Hayato was a Karate user, and Saiga... Well, he mixes several styles). They gave each other a week to prepare, and then it would be on. The world would be watching...
When the week was up, they fought. At first, people laughed at Saiga and put their bets on Hayato. Saiga was a good 9 inches shorter and at least a hundred pounds lighter than his grandfather. There was no way he'd survive the first round, right?
Wrong. the fight went all ten rounds, without a either of them ever losing their footing, and Saiga won with a Knockout. It was a fight that went down in martial arts history, giving Saiga worldwide fame as "The Reaper's Right Hand", a name so given because of his devastating Gyaki Zuki (Reverse Punch). His grandfather was wheeled out of there in a stretcher, and Saiga was free to go about his life.
Until a couple of cops found him, and told him that his grandfather had died from an Aneurysm, which had ruptured when Saiga delivered the final cross to his grandfather's skull. The fact that Hayato managed to stay alive for a week after having an aneurysm was only a testament to how powerful that man was.
In his last will and testament, Saiga got everything He sold everything his granfather owned, including custody of his younger sister (who wanted nothing to do with him ever again).
So Saiga now lives alone in his grandfather's dead dojo, as a penance to the amazing man his grandfather once was, and because he had nowhere else to go. At least now the paparazzi leaves him alone. Seems his fame was soured a bit when he (accidentally) killed his grandfather.
Personality
Saiga walks a fine line between confidence and arrogance. In normal life, he is a confident, nice man who enjoys smaller things, like spending time with friends or working on a personal project. When in battle, however, he is supremely arrogant, egotistical that his ability is beyond anyone else who challenges him. And for the most part, he is right. No one who has challenged him for Jjang in the past two years has even made him put forth a true effort. Regardless of whether he is in combat or not, he is a witty, fairly intelligent individual who is always honest, regardless of how painful the truth or how much he hates the person in front of him.
Secrets
The fact that he killed his grandfather. It's probably known well enough by people who follow professional martial arts leagues, but he still refuses to say a word about it. Also, he keeps his mouth shut about the court hearing over it too, even though he got off (they had both signed a legally-binding waiver after all, and they knew the risks of real battle).
Theme Song
Undone - Five Finger Death Punch
Other
Saiga's a high level black belt in Karate, probably around 1st or 2nd Dan, but depending on the situation he can and will use basic to intermediate Taekwondo, Muay Thai, or Judo (all roughly green/blue belt level). Also, he fights in a much more disciplined and focused manner than other street toughs, because of his training.
