Earth is long lost, yet its legacy has enveloped the stars. Its location is not known, its history is not known. To most it is nothing but a fable, but to some the belief in its existence is integral to their lives. The notion that all beings come from one place, the idea that the stars have a place for all to call home, is sacred. But if Earth ever truly was, then its promise pales in comparison to the breadth of the new worlds.
In time past, mankind found a new system, a sea of new worlds, a sky filled with new moons and new homes. Colonisation ensured survival; habitable worlds were enveloped for the sake of continuing a dwindling existence. We left our true home, to rest amongst strange stars and uncharted territories.
Wars were fought for basic necessities; genocide was instigated for the sake of water and food, with men dying so that other men could live. Borders were crossed; and divisions were made in the early days of expansion. The outer worlds came to be known as ‘The Frontier’, were the poor and down trodden lived under the shadow of crime and manipulation. ‘The Heart’ was the centre of the galaxy, a placed filled with pristine worlds dominated by the wealthy and political juggernauts of the new society. The worlds in between were deemed ‘’The Void’’, the place between the other worlds, were laws were minimal and freedom was all but absolute, but political influence waned due to independent and efficient living, The Void was the victim of the desires of other worlds, cornered by the criminals and the politicians, they remain a conflicted people to this day.
The divide between rich and poor has become galactic in scale, with mankind fastly becoming an exploitave and violent people. Our differences became perpetuated by our desires as our technology advanced. We built machines capable of performing our work for us, but that was an arduous process, a mechanical path riddled with failure. Drones, we treated them like slaves, Farming Drones, War Drones, built for every task and abandoned after they did their work. Some have exiled themselves, becoming a race in their own right. But the division between man and machine was not the only seperation.
Those that sought augmentation and physical surgery became obsessed with change, becoming something other than human. Alternates they were called, sometimes simply referred to as 'Alts', men and women who coloured their skin and eyes every shade of the rainbow, implanting their bones with horns and replacing limbs with mechanical monstrosities. They became a culture onto themselves and triggered another divide.
The Imperative is the installed government that rules the Heart and Void of the galaxy, facilitated by senators assigned to every world, they are slaves to bureacracy and their insistence on upholding democracy.
But something else is stirring in the hearts and minds of men as of late. Something is changing amongt the stars.
Something wicked this way comes.
This is an extremely brief summary of a massive scale roleplay I've been planning for the better part of two weeks now. It will be an Epic, Dark and positively massive Sci-Fi adventure with an entire galaxy and history not unlike many much loved franchises such as Star Wars, Firefly or Battlestar Galactica.
If I were to describe AfterEarth in a sentence, it would be ''Star Wars's sick twisted cousin''. Instead of scaring everyone off with a ten page write-up, I thought I'd simply slap up a summary and get everyones opinion
I'm writing up tonnes of original worlds, factions, technologies, designs, visuals and even iconic phrases. The object of the roleplay will obviously be just to have fun, but my goal is to provide a well written and immersive platform for everyone to do that, with a universe that is both interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
It will be gritty and lived in, with very little holograms and flashy lights, everything is built for reasons of practicality and most of the technology barely works, just like the technology in the shows Firefly and Battlestar Galactica.
If you have any questions or ideas, feel free to post them here or even just PM me. I look forward to your thoughts and comments and I'll be updating this thread regularly for the forseeable future.

Thanks guys, feel free to share your own ideas if you like, let's craft a world together
I'm working on a galaxy map right now, fleshing out the world for everyone.
Alright, what do you need? Writers? World(s) lore? Lemme know and I'll start on something.
Thank you for the awesome sig Lillian Thorne!
If I were you guys right now, I'd work on character ideas. The brief summary I've provided so far is just enough to start fleshing out our character traits and ideas.
Humans, Machines, Mutants and Freaks. All inhabiting a dark, gritty galaxy. You can literally be anything amidst the grand spectrum, a politician, a thief, a businessman or a soldier. Anything you want.
You'll just have more material to draw from once I post the official OOC thread after we gain more interest
Color me interested.
Thinking on a religious fanatic. That alright with you? I would have to invent the religion first of course.

"The world wasn't big enough for Alexander, but a coffin was big enough to contain him."- Juvenal
"I am poor, I have only my dreams. I spread my dreams under your feet. Tread carefully. For you tread on my dreams." - Yeats
"Now, if the slap don't work...You cut 'em or you pay 'em, but you keep the receipts 'cos this 'aint the Mafia, alright?" - Archie
"No one starts... on the top of the world. Not you. Not me. Not even gods. But the unbearable vacancy of the throne in the sky is over. From now on... I will be sitting on it."
And the best of them all
"You see that pack of Virginia killing sticks on the end of the piano? All you need to know about life is retained in those four walls. You will notice that one of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of grandeur - the gold packet of king size with a regal insignia, an attractive implication towards grandeur and wealth, the subtle suggestion that cigarettes are indeed your royal and loyal friends, and that, Pete, is a lie. Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion, written in boring bold black and white, is a statement that these neat little soldiers of death are in fact trying to kill you and that, Pete, is the truth. Oh, beauty is a beguiling call to death and i'm addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren. That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet." - Johnny Quid
