Kachin looked down as she took his hand, smiling and squeezing hers gently.
"Alright. Let's hold hands then." he said, feeling a leap of joy in his heart. She wanted to hold his hand! This was a good thing in Earthling culture! She did like him! As they left the store, the heat subsiding to a bearably warm temperature, Kachin got up the courage to ask a question.
"Um, Alice, I wanted to ask you something. What do you think of me? I mean, I always thought you hated me, but, just now... You um... I mean, I l-like you, a-a lot, actually." he said, stumbling over his own tongue.

Alice stared at the ground, blushing a bright red. She glanced up as Kachin began to speak again and the blush brightened even more, making it look as though she was a tomato. She puffed out her cheeks and said quietly,

"I like you too." she hesitent;y leaned her head towards him, resting on his upper arm, staring out blankly in front of her. There, she said. It was true, she did like Kachin, ever since they escaped his relative's castle. All the adventures they had with everyone, they bonded. It was a new, fantastic feel that was warming her heart right now. She squeezed Kachin's tightly, giving a small hum of satisfaction.

Kachin looked at her with pleasant surprise, his spirits soaring higher and higher at her words. He smiled a wide smile at her, happy.
"Really? That makes me glad! I was worried that you didn't like me that much, because you're always beating me up. But it makes me happy to hear that you don't hate me." he said, squeezing her hand gently.
They walked home in much less tense silence, the sun setting and painting the sky orange. He started cooking when they got up to the apartment, wanting to make it special. Let's see, what foods did Alice like? ... Actually, the only foods he'd seen her eat were sweets. Did she eat like a normal person at all?

He shrugged it off, making use of the hamburger patties he'd bought. He brought them out, setting them on the table, going to Alice's room. He knocked loudly, to ensure his innocent intentions.
"Alice? Dinner's ready! Come out and eat! I'll cry if you don't!" he called, semi-teasingly.

Alice, who had collapsed onto her bed as soon as they returned home, gave a muffled reply,

"I'm not hungry, though. I'm still full from that crepe..." she muttered, rolling onto her back. Her head was groggy with the past few hours that kept replaying in her head, her face still a bright red. She just wanted to sleep. She threw a pillow at the door, making a small bump as the two connected,

"I'll come out and eat later." she called quietly.

Kachin sighed at her answer, walking back to the kitchen. He'd have to take a more aggressive approach. He put the hamburgers on a covered plate, hanging up the apron and waited for ten minutes. When the ten minutes were up, he picked up the plate, walked to Alice's room, kicked the door open with a bang, coming in and setting the food on the bedside table. He walked into her bathroom, picking up a small blue prescription bottle, before sitting down cross-legged in front of her bed. He opened the bottle, taking out a capsule and offering it to her.
"Here. You said you forgot to take it today. I'm supposed to be in your care, but don't think that means I' going to let you neglect yourself. Come on, it says on the bottle to take with food. So eat my damn hamburgers. They're from normal earthling cows!" he urged her, his face concerned.
