I apologize if my critiques are short and a little off, but I'm a tiny bit tired and just want to point out the basics this month...it's terrible that I couldn't participate...I wanted to do a Final Fantasy VIII theme...that FF never got much credit compared to its predecessor.

1 - The artwork is beautiful, and the contrasts really make the image pop. Unfortunately, I have no clue what this is from...and like I had done in the casual thread, I voted not only for the artistry, but for something I knew and loved. Nonetheless, your work is wonderful, and I hope to see it some more.

2 - I have three letters for you - O. M. G! Not only is it an adorable chibi, but it is a CLOUD CHIBI! How awesome is that?! The work is simple, easily defined, and positively adorable! For all of these reasons, I give you my vote.

3 - One thing's for certain...you have some drawing talent I wish I had! Unfortunately, I didn't recognize the movie. In fact, for some reason (probably because I haven't seen Fox and the Hound or All Dogs Go to Heaven in at least 7 or 8 years) I thought it was from one of the All Dogs Go to Heaven movies...sad, I know. But very well done, even if I didn't recognize it...*smiles sheepishly*

4 - We had a lot of Marios done this month! And yours is very nice. The manipulation is seemless, almost as if it was designed just that way. And you used the recent technological advancements to your advantage, utilizing the newer pictures instead of the originals. However, I would have liked to see someone take an original Mario picture...that would have made it more worth while for me, personally. Still, well done.

5 - Ah...the seven princesses...very famous, and hand drawn artworks are always going to catch the eye of the voters. However, the question is why did you draw the dolls sitting on a child's bed? Is this a picture of you as a child? Or perhaps your daughter or something like that? What's the personal reference to this? The art was good, yes...but I just didn't see enough depth, persay...

#1 This one really popped out at me. It took me a second to place the character but not too long, which shows how it's different while still recognizable. It was a great re-imagining of a character, especially because because she wasn't evil to begin with. I love the detail work though the tongue felt off.

#2 While this one was cute, I didn't recognize him until I read the comments. I haven't actually played one of his games (closest I came was Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories). I thought the lack of a background was a deciding factor. That and the lack of apparent details, with the exception of the belt, it just doesn't feel as polished or as worked on as the others. I'm sorry because I'm sure you spent just as much time and effort on it as the others, it's just what I feel from the artwork.

#3 This entry was obviously worked on for a while and I applaud both your ability and your hard work. Unfortunately the shadows and shading feel off and I can't tell where your light source is supposed to be coming from. I also am not familiar with the movie so I apologize because I feel that makes me slightly biased.

#4 While I like the choice of character this just feels like too much I've already seen. The use of colors was nice, as was the sizing, but it just didn't feel as creative as the others. I'm honestly not sure how I would fix it because it really is quite good it just didn't ring originality with me.

#5 This one wasn't bad, the re-imagining was nice but feels simplistic. the point of view feels off because of the bed legs and there just isn't enough detail. The proportions of the little girl's head to her arms is also off just enough to make the whole entry seem off. I applaud you for the way each princess was recognizable though.

In case you couldn't tell from my commentary, I voted for #1 with #4 coming in a not so distant 2nd.

Congratulations Bela! I really liked your piece As people have said though, the tongue is a little too red to be realistic.

For anyone interested, my piece was number 2 xP THE CHIBI CLOUD!
