    Spam forum

Alright, so last night I posted a thread saying "Wouldn't a change of topic from whores be a nice change?" Ok, not exactly the words I used but you get the drift. Ten minutes later, I have six people raging at me about how I am horrible at being a member of the spam forum. Now the question comes up, WHAT THE HELL?

First of all, Spam doesn't take nicely to people telling them what to do, especially if they're getting it from someone new to the forum. It's like barging into a roleplay and telling everyone they're doing it wrong. >>

Secondly... spam has a rather perverted mindset, it's something to get used to. Don't dwell on it too much or try to change it, cuz the last member who did... yeesh.

And thirdly, spam almost never discusses anything maturely. Pretty much everything is either A) a joke, or B) a ragefest.

Just don't go around trying to change spam; that never ends well. My advice is... if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I advise you just get out of the kitchen in the first place.

Well, thanks for the advice. And I believe the description of Spam's attention span is "Very short". Therefore, I'll just return on Friday and start a-new.

I think it's less the short attention span, and more the fact of what's... customary for a spam thread. The only threads that last long are forum games, usually, and the rest sink to the bottom before long.

The very site-defined description says it's for threads "with little or no substantial discussion", meaning, threads which people will forget about by tomorrow.

Threads may die, but legends are forever.

But, uh, yeah. Spam operates by a system of street cred which is doled out according to your tolerability. Jorick, for example, is one of our newer members in Spam, but is universally loved because he doesn't come across as a dumbass. Spelling, coherency, and staying off the soapbox keep you from getting ridiculed. A sense of humor and an understanding of Spam's "vibe" will make you dumbest one standing in the room full of idiots.

I started off the same way as you (if not worse). Just takes a while to get used to the folks there. Basically, don't have any strong opinions and you'l be ok

Spam needs a purge. With Space Marines and fire.

Foxes described it pretty well. Also, <3 Foxes.

Really, the best advice I could give you is to take everything said in Spam with a handful of salt. Rarely is anything said there in seriousness when it comes to insults. Don't try to upset the status quo as a new guy or people will just use you as target practice for their trolling, such as we did to you the other night. Nobody actually disliked you (well, maybe Ozy did, but he's special), you were just the entertainment of the moment.

Don't rock the boat unless you want people to tell you to sit down and shut up. Just go with the flow. Spam is what it is, and one man will not change it. The jokes are largely sexual and often offensive, that's just how the regular folks are with their humor. If that's not for you, then I would suggest sticking to the games and other tame threads rather than venturing into the cesspool of Spam at large. Better that than getting all riled up over the natural order of the section of the site, man.
