    Shakespearian Inspired RP?

Thanks to the BBC airing it’s Hollow Crown series I’ve hit a mood for some Shakespearian inspired RP. My idea is to focus on two kingdoms, England and France, as they see the end of conflict and war. Receiving news that the King of England had fallen ill and left in the hands of his roguish, tavern loving son, France’s King pursues a hostile taking of lands and dominance. No one expected to the eldest Prince to answer the call of his blood and defend his home lands with honor and valor, the last of the battles resulting in the death of the French King’s own oldest son.

Seeing that England was not as weak as it appeared, the French King withdrew his attacks and about this time did the King of England regain his health and rule. Leaving his oldest son to return to his ‘unsavory’ ways but with a bit more respect for his father and future duties. Within the week of the English King’s return to the throne, France’s ruler sent a letter calling for a truce and to strengthen his word, offers his daughter, the current Dauphine as wife to the Prince. The King is willing to accept this offer but has asked the French King and his daughter to appear in Court to formally meet and put these terms in writing.

And that’s where the game would pick up. We can look forward to a lot of political squabbling, betrayal and tensions as well as character growth and development. How will the Prince react to hearing his father has agreed to his marriage to a woman that was once his enemy? Will he decide to grow up finally or rebel further? How will the Dauphine (French princess) react to marrying the man who killed her brother? What other scoundrels lie in the Court? How long will this alliance last and what other threats await the English kingdom?

As I see it, I’d need characters like:

    England’s King
    England’s Eldest Prince
    England’s Queen (Optional)
    Other English Royal family
English Lords, Dukes and other Court nobility
    Commoners

    France’s King
    France’s Dauphine - Taken
    France’s Queen (Optional)
    Other French Royal family
    French Leadership and authority

Other potential conflicting characters with rivalries of the English King

It would be a game of high-casual level. There wouldn’t be any fantasy elements like; dwarves, elves or dragons. Just good, old fashioned medieval/historic fiction. Most of the setting will be in and around England, I won’t be a stickler for exact geographical facts. And you don’t really have to speak text in Shakespearian style either but keeping to the setting it good. So, that’s my idea.

Signature done by the lovely and talented, Lillian Thorne.

Sounds interesting... England's prince sounds like something I could pull off in a vaguely Hamlet and Mercutio style.

Big fan of Shakespearan times, and the man himself I am a big fan of. Definitely piques my interest. Really want a traitor's job, though.
    C'est la vie.

A Clown by any other name

What would Hamlet be without the gravedigger? Prince Harry without Falstaff?

    You have my interest!

A shame there's no further interest. This seemed like a fun challenge!
Just two cents from a Buffalo nickel. Got change?
