Life can be a terrible thing at times and not everyone can deal with it.

“Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us his greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the Imperial Guard, and your doom is upon you. "

I've suffered with depression and it almost lead to suicide, through bullying that happned almost all the time I was at school and by hating the person I was turning into by what was happening. I still don't know why I was bullied, I didn't do anything to anyone, I just hung out with best friends(it was a very small group of about three of us), I used to lie to myself too, saying they are just teasing, they don't mean it all, and boy I was wrong.

It pretty much impacted me ALOT, almost ended up like them too, I hurt people, mostly friends, my first girlfriend, family, I just hit rock bottom, locked myself away from everyone, and tried to hide away. that just made it worse for myself, and I almost took my own life. I'd spend days with myself locked in, didn't eat or sleep, I hardly drank too.

My older sister helped me through it when I was at my all time worse, even though it took months, I managed to turn my life around, I moved schools, and I moved on from that period of my life, and I became a better person(hopefully).

Some people just don't have hope, or the willpower to change their own situation, and it gets to the point where they think suicide is the only option out of the pain, the depression, or any other state of mind. They need to see, to know that suicide isn't the only option, they CAN change their situation, maybe they just need somebody to look out for them, or maybe they need to find that drive to carry on and to punch their problem away(figuratively speaking), I think I'm rambling now.

What I'm trying to say, is that maybe they need someone to help them through their problems, family, friends, a loved one, whatever, they need to know that they don't have to suffer alone, or suffer in silence, because those people in their life love them dearly. I deeply feel sorry for those that have taken their life, or contemplate it.

I personally think the culture and people in East Asia pay a lot of attention in 'being normal'. As in, the same like everybody else. Unlike in the West, where individuality is (more) valued, kids in East Asia are pressured to act and achieve the same thing like the other kids do. If the neighbor's kid got accepted into medical school, you have to get into the same school. If your classmate excels in piano, you fucking have to learn to play the instrument, too. There is also a lot of emphasize on the way you dress; I often hear comments like, "Oh, that X girl often dresses inappropriately, but she's actually really nice." When you're in that kind of situation and become trapped in a life that you yourself don't like, depression is prone to happen, and hence, suicide.

Of course, there are some exceptions, and I'm not the professional in this kind of issues. I'm also aware that there are many other factors that can cause people to commit suicide - bullying, for example.

It's mostly two factors, as far as I've seen, that cause people to go through with suicide.
1: Some people just have more willpower than others. What makes one person sternly go forward, makes another person crumble. People often don't seem to realize that what might not hurt you, could still very much hurt others.
2: Not having the needed support. Friends, family, professional, you name it. Having support from others is very important to get through harsh times. If you feel like you're alone in whatever the situation is things can go from bad to worse very quickly.

Thanks to Genkai for my sig.

Optimist: The glass is half full.
Pessimist: The glass is half empty.
Realist: Depends. If it was first completely full, it's now half empty. If it was completely empty and filled half way, it's half full.

The problem with society today is that it has one cookie cutter style for everyone. Without taking into account individuals levels, strengths and weakness. You are all expected to reach a certain level, especially in japan.
Back when it was small communities a person would be judged on what best occupation for them, they are then trainned as hunters or builders one on one with a trainner who would teach them depending on how they thought best to educate the young person.

But now everything is a faceless production line, education trains thousands of children the system is set at a standard instead of talored to individuals and as such theres no real support for those who just cant keep up with the standard set, they are usually outcast or made examples of. The fault is this facless machine like world we have now, where a person is nothing but a number.
Somthing soceity has to learn is that we are not all the same, we have different levels of what a person can take and we all learn differently, what works for one doesnt work for another.
The system in place is like square holes in a board most people will fit through this square but when say a circle comes along there is no other path so they simply try to ram the circle through the square or disgard it as defective.

But to anyone feeling those suicidal feelings i highly reccomend a film called Ink. Its a low budget indie movie but it deals with some really deep issues but not in a stupid way. Somthing anyone whos felt like it can reccognize. Ive never said a film has changed my life but i can say it made it alittle better, helped me understand myself and those around me better.
Its a odd movie but it has a strong feel about a father who is ashamed of his life, he tried to compensate that feeling with sucess and when that stopped working he falls into dispair theres these creatures that stay with him whispering that hes weak and not good enough, Drawn by his life long self hate and despair. Even though it has elements of fantasy its all towards the point about fighting for that was really matters and to stop been ashamed of yourself for feeling weak

I've dealt with suicide in my life, personally. When I was younger I struggled with the idea. It may seem as easy as just ignoring it but when a person's tolerance for pain is far surpassed for too long, they break down. Insanity, depression, suicide, the list goes on.

You put a human being under enough emotional stress, and no matter who they are or how well trained their mind is, they will break eventually. Some sooner than others, some in more extreme ways than others. Some long-term, some short.

It can also relate to culture and one's upbringing. Suicide before dishonour, for example.

If you really want to see something creepy about Japan's suicides, go to youtube and search up "Suicide Forest in Japan." Yep. Never adventuring in a random forest if I ever do take a vacation to Japan. Ever.
