"No, it's just a headache... I'll probably have it for a while..." It didn't look like 'just a headache' by how he couldn't pick his head up anymore.
"One man died and a few others were wounded but we were okay for the most part," she answered with a nod. He seemed to be in a lot of pain and it was beginning to nag at Beca. "Should I get Valentina to check in you?" she asked, not daring to move yet so as to accommodate the state he was in.

Beca sighed and gently laid him back onto the bed. "Don't move. I'm serious. I'll be back," she instructed and left to find Valentina.

"I don't think so," Beca blurted. It was not exactly sensitive to Valentina's worried state. She wrung her hands and tried again. "He won't say so, but he doesn't look so great and I'm worried," she explained. "Would you mind checking on him?" she asked.

She checked over his senses with him, and nothing seemed wrong until she reached his eyes. That was when she realized why he was acting more strangely than he should. "Markos... baby, why didn't you tell someone...?"

With Valentina's words, Beca bit down on her lower lip as worry set in. "What's wrong?" Beca choked instantly. She was beginning to shake in fear and she had no idea what was going on or how severe it was.

"No, honey, I'd bet you anything that if we had a machine to see it, we'd find out your eyes are completely disconnected from the rest of your brain... With how many hits to the head you've taken, and what's probably a fracture in your neck from that fall, you're lucky it's not worse."
