Krusek was a little annoyed when he was referred to by his first name, but he decided it best not to voice his complaints. The captain did not appear to have a complaint department, that, or you were supposed to write your complaints on a piece of paper, tear it up, and shut your face. Though, Krusek did find himself agreeing with the new pilot on his initial perception of the ship. But Krusek did not believe in judging a spaceship, or any automotive for that matter, by its appearance. It was all about the engine and machinery this baby ran on.

Krusek would assume the engine would be very powerful to lift this thing off the ground. The thrusters appeared to be Ion thrusters, which were well known to be extremely powerful. Ion thruster were what was used to improve the trip speed from Earth to Mars, if Krusek remembered his history correctly. The gravity appeared to be an ultra high-density mass that would have been installed into the spacecraft, if there was gravity. He hoped there was, because that would just be annoying.

Krusek noticed the captain take a hit from the short female. The captain appeared to be unaffected by the hit, but by the fact that he stood around for a few moments looking very tense, Krusek could tell that the hit had made its mark.

Krusek shrugged and walked up the gangplank towards the opening in the ship. He ascended the stairway till he arrived inside of the ship. The hallways seemed like the standard size of a human's ship. Cramped and hard to avoid crowding. The doorways were short and Krusek was forced to bend low to get through them, due to his height. But he could get used to it. After all, he would be here 24/7. He had worked on a ship a long time ago, but he had since lost his space legs and had grown used to walking on solid ground.

First off on the list, Krusek would have to find a bunk room to stay in. He chose the one closest to the engine's room. It would be hard to sleep, for the average person, but Krusek had been around engines for most of his life. Sleeping with loud noises going on in the background was no big deal to him. Plus, he had stayed in an inn before, and the sound of an engine was the best sound you would hear if you were neighbors with a very lively couple.

He entered his chosen bunk room and threw his duffel bag, a large cumbersome green canvas bag, onto his bunk. He then proceeded to disarm. A large pipe wrench fell out of his coat onto the floor, hitting and making a loud clunk noise, that, no doubt, would resound throughout the ship, or at least for half of it. He responded quickly by picking up the wrench and laying it out on a metal table that was attached to the floor. He carried a pipe wrench around, in concealment, for the purpose of self-defense. He was good at using a pipe wrench to fight.
He removed his suit coat and necktie, laying them out on the bed. Then, he rolled up his sleeves and stepped out of his room. "Now then, let's take a look at the engine room." He said aloud to himself.

He entered the roomy space of the engine room. There was plenty of free space for everyone to be there, but no intruders would be tolerated, not on Krusek's watch. He needed no distractions if he was going to work.
He immediately set to work finding where all the tools were. There were tools clipped to racks and strewn out on benches, The tool area was a mess. "I see the last mechanic for this ship was not one for tidiness." He grumbled. To make matters worse, the tools were dirty. Dirty tools were wholly a bad thing to work with. This would not be tolerated. "The captain had better have proper cleaning equipment." He said, brooding.
"If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." George S. Patton.

Sai couldn't help but watch the lone Tokiin walk past him, both catching each others eyes before she entered without so much as a whisper.... He was disappointed in the lack of twins but one would be fine. He followed her in and into the meeting area that the contenders were standing in.

"Those of you wishing to become a part of the crew will have to fight for your position... those looking for a security position, you literally have to fight for it. Last 5 still standing in my ship get to stay on it till they say otherwise... go!" In a sudden outburst, the brawl began with the Ork grabbing another contending member and tossing him out the gangway doors. "If your a pilot, meet me int he cockpit!"

Sai as well as the competing pilots had to rush through the brawl in order to evade becoming a target.

"Why not tell them to fight after we left" said a pilot with a fresh black eye

"If you didn't survive that, what happens when they are armed with rifles." The group arrived at the cockpit, meeting up with Roland and Vagrant "You know Vagrant, you should watch the brawl in the loading bay, quiet the sight. As for the rest of you pilots, I need to have your piloting license so I can check records as well a list of vessels you have flown in the last 6 months. I will know if you are cheating, I can smell it."

Sami, like the rest of the group put the information asked for on a data card and then handed the card to Sai. What to do afterwards is unclear, but most went to watch the fight in the other section of the ship. Sami decided to stay on this end of the ship, waiting for her chance to talk to the captain, but she felt that the moment he had what he needed from the pilots he would leave. And even if that wasn't the case there were other pilots waiting to talk to the captain as well, and some pilots were very assertive... this wasn't the case for Sami, she was calm, reserved, and very outspoken. She hoped that her skill as a pilot was what mattered instead of talking up a good game.

She was a decent pilot, having worked for a delivery company for the last year as a transport pilot. Getting there was her specialty, and if it meant a few rolls and flips she was capable to do it.

Roland put a hand out to the engineer.
"Roland Rays, please to meet you." He said politely. Roland looked the engineer up and down. She was quite nice looking girl dark brown hair skinny white face with a tad of oriental decent, she also looked quite unpolished. She had dormant bruises on her face and her knuckles looked like they had been broken and healed time and time again. He smiled he liked them rough.
"Sure feel free, I'm not even the pilot...yet." Roland finished his sentence with a tad to much confidence with what he meant to imply.

Roland watched as the captain walked accompanied by 2 others. A pilot with a large black eye and a small Tokinn girl. Roland breathed a little sigh of relief that there was two pilot postions. Although species didn't matter on how good a pilot you were being a Tokinn gave you a head start. Roland quickly opened up his resume on his data pad and handed it to the captain.

The list of ships numbered quite high for a Pilot his age and the ships varried greatly. From Cargo ships to Prison ships to Military frigates, to one man exploration vessels. Hell Roland was even flew a fighter in the brief but bloody Sterling system Rebellions.
"Those are all the legal ships I've been on. For the last 3 or 4 years I've flown several Pirate and outlaw vessels. I doubt they would even acknowledge I exist let alone give you information about me." Roland said Matter-O-Factually.

After a few minutes of floating/crawling around the ship, Ophyr found the kitchen.
He'd been correct about the kitchen. He'd passed by it several times in his search because he didn't recognize it. Perhaps he should have. Na'To kitchens were notoriously different to those of other species.
This one, however, appeared to be trying to disguise itself as a junk & spare parts store.

He let out a couple of deep, reverberating bellows of irritation that echoed through the ship in annoyance before starting to give the kitchen a semblance of order. With some difficulty, he discovered and retrieved the various pans, pots and skillets he'd need for his first order.
It took him another couple of minutes to find the pantry, which, to his pleasant surprise, was both well-stocked and in good order. Not much in the way of kessels though, and he could only do them Fla'ambay style.
It was a fairly basic recipe, although he'd have to alter it a bit. Normally, it called for Thriss grass as a seasoning, although his personal preference was for Phoyih leaves of his homeland; he thought it gave it that extra bit of tang that made the kessels taste just right. He had neither however, which was slightly annoying. He did his best to substitute with lemon juice and gorta weed shavings, taking care to remove the central cord which had to a tendency to lead to minor hallucinations.

He shoved the prepared plate in the oven, set a twenty-minute timer and went to explore the rest of the ship. He was hoping to collect a list of allergies, intolerances and personal preferences and dislikes from the rest of the crew.

Sai collected all of the data cards, he thought there would be more pilots from those on his application list. Then he realized they were likely the first to go when the fighting started in the loading bay. He compared the licenses, Roland was without a doubt a pilot of many feats... but not without a record and a few crashes. Fred was a decent pilot as well, fewer crashes... but he was the one with the black eye and not ready for a fight. Lastly there was Samino, not a long track record, but not a single crash outside of simulations. It was clear to him just who he would have to pick.

He returned to the brawl, Fred was watching it as the final 6 were trying to throw one last man off the boat. He patted the pilots back, gave him a reassuring smile, and shook his hand.

"Nice fight, ain't it." Fred nodded, trying to look at Sai and the fight.

Sai quickly turned their hand shake into a trap, gripping the hand and twisting it behind the mans back before shoving him into the brawl. Fred ran into a Tokiin man, knocking them off balance and putting them both in the clutches of the massive Ork. In a minute he tossed the unwanted crew off the ship and Sai closed the door. This was it. Sai accessed the ships PA system through the panel he was just using and began his opening speech to the crew.

"If you can hear me now, and your are still on this boat... welcome to the crew. You are probably the best on this hub, maybe even the system and I am honored that you chose to work for me. A few things we will need to make clear is that I split shares evenly for the most part. One share to the crew, even me, one share for the ship to resupply and refuel, and then one share for those that want a gold star on your name..." he let the joke sink in for a moment before he went on "I will make this clear, we will not always be doing legal work. If you have a problem with it, deposit this thought into the nearest comment box and I will get back to you. Last, but not least. You are now the official crew of the Dead Roger. All pilots prepare for launch."

He shut down the PA and started for the kitchen.

At the captain's suggestion, Vagrant decided to go take a look at the brawl. "Nice meeting ya, Roland," she said to the potential pilot. She'd seen the young man looking her over, and was undecided if she liked it or not. Sure, attention was always nice, but she'd seen his gaze linger on her bruised and scarred hands. Not exactly her best features... "I'll see ya around, maybe."

She could check up on the ship's security measures later. For now, she was genuinely interested in seeing what was breaking out in the cargo hold. After making her way there, she perched herself on the handrail, her feet hanging over the edge. The fight in the cargo hold below her was definitely amusement, and she couldn't help but be glad that she wasn't a part of it. Doubtless, Vagrant could have held her own, but not without getting bloodied up a little. While she was lost in thought, the Captain threw one of the potential pilots into the fight, and he ended up a bit too close to the Ork. Vagrant grinned, watching the huge beast throw him and a few others out of the ship. Sai quickly closed the door before accessing the PA system.

Vagrant straightened up with pride at the Captain's short speech. She had no issues with illegal missions. A good thing, too, since she hadn't seen any of these 'complaint boxes' anywhere on board so far. "Way to go, Ariette," she muttered to herself, using her birth name in a rare moment of sentiment. "You got yourself onboard a decent ship."

Thank you to Lilian Thorne for the awesome sig!

Ophyr shuddered in a sudden outburst of pain as the intercoms blared on all at the same time next to his mantle. He could hear the words far, far, far too clearly. It reminded him slightly of the sonic punishments he'd seen doled out to criminals back on Ashiruig. Murderers, demolishers, life-extenders.
He suddenly sympathised much, much more with those people. Sonic overload was incredibly painful.
He lowered himself as much as he could, until he was essentially flat against the ground, or at least as flat as he could get, so he was out of the range of the speakers.

"-osit this thought into the nearest comment box and I will get back to you. Last, but not least. You are now the official crew of the Dead Roger. All pilots prepare for launch."

Dead Roger? He thought that was an odd name for a ship. Maybe it was in memory of a deceased human male.
He waited for a few moments to make sure no more sound was going to blast over the intercom before floating off back towards the cargo bay and the entrance to talk to any stragglers, spraying the ship's interior with droplets of water.

He saw the Na'to captain again on his way there, stopping briefly to press himself against the corridor wall so Sai could pass and to hold conversation
"Ah, Captain Sai, greetings. Your order is currently cooking slowly. I hope you are not averse to the Flamba'ay style, as that is all I could manage with the storeroom contents. I also had to substitute in lemon and gorta weed instead of Thriss grass, is that alright? I took necessary precautions."

Sami wanted to step up and talk to Sai before he left after looking through his data. Curiously, she followed, and saw what she thought was congradulating to one of the pilots... and then he was thrown into the fray with the fighters. But that meant of the three applicants, she was one of the two to be accepted! Sure enough, the captain went to the intercom to tell them all this, that they were now apart of the crew of Dead Roger. The name must have something to do with the Jolly Roger plastered over the ships exterior... but she didn't think about it too often, she had a ship to fly.

As ordered she quickly made it to the cockpit and took a hold of the controls. The began the ignition sequence before she had rump in her seat. She had to wait on the other pilot to double check her and start the take off procedure... though Sami was confident she could do it on her own.

Unintelligible tongue slipped through inattentive ears. The voice was shrill and bellicose, hinting at a knife that waved in her hand. The woman, a Na'to, continued her trifling argument, sprinkling her threats here and there. All of it was directed to a lone body standing attentively at the kiosk, his eyes scanning the contents on the table, the contents he ordered. His hands were placed behind his back, a vice grip on a few bags he held.

The unit was named after his main processes, though the crew of his ship, what little there was, had nicknamed him Hanse Baren, a funny joke to make him sound like their butler. Despite the obvious bigotry, he found it rather amusing and decided it was better than fighting the inevitable. That crew died, himself, a few others, and their captain being the only ones left. The few others having left not long ago and the captain putting up a offer on the net upon the hub.

Of course, Hanse needed to focus on the issue at hand. This lady, her tentacles swishing back and forth in rhythm to her knife, was still screaming at him. Something about insulting her husband's work, most likely the gathering and hunting of the ingredients that lay upon the table. Seeing as she was rather obstinate, there was no use arguing, as the new crew needn't starve on their first day. Hanse lifted his hand, smiling brightly as he did and apologizing in the woman's native tongue, a few extra bits of money were handed as well. The android shuffled the numerous items into another bag before strolling down to the hub's port, leaving a smiling woman to engage in nice conversation with her next customer.

Sai would not have approved, but he wasn't there. Plus, if he wanted to make a big deal about it, then he might as well be locked in his room so that he could brood about what he had done. Or rather, what he would do, were he to find out about the extra spending Hanse had done. At the moment, he could care less, he got the equipment, the food, and everything else they needed, not to mention a discount on the Dead Roger's refueling. If he wanted to complain, let him.

Hanse arrived just as the ramp shut, greeted by two dazed and confused personnel. With a sigh, he forced the door back down before stepping onto the ramp and into the ship. Ignoring some of the new crew members, Hanse moved through the storage area and into the main part of the ship. After making his rounds around the layout, dropping the essential supplies in their designated areas, Hanse made his way down to his last stop, the kitchen--a smile, though fake, beamed upon his features.

"Off the railing," he called to female crew member as he passed her, tapping her shoulder as he did. With that said, he paused at his lone destination, bag in hand. The android set it upon the counter, taking a glance at the meal cooking in the oven before turning his attention to the Draugr and Na'to coming in.

"I bought the needed supplies; they are where they should be," Hanse spoke, placing a hand on the large bag, ruffling up the assortment of smaller bags inside--no sensible person wanted salmonella splayed upon their vegetables, "I am sure our new cook would love to see and assort his new ingredients, whoever that may be. I made sure to get whatever the best was on this hub; not much to work with, but better than the slop found in the less desirable parts of this station."

"Look at the sky. It's not dark and black and without character... the black is, in fact, deep blue. And over there: lighter blue, and blowing through the blues and blackness the winds swirling through the air and then shining, burning, bursting through: the stars! And you see how they roar their light. Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes."
