    Basic Matrix
    Age: 83
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Unspecified location in Japan
    Race: Human
Theme Song: Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 6'2"
    Weight: 206 lbs.
    Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Glazed over as though blind (not blind)
    Blood Type: AB-

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Unknown
    Perception of Strangers: Potential youkai?
Perception of Friends: Does not believe in friendship.
Perception of Enemies: Strike them down swiftly!
Global Perception: The world is a place for humans, not youkai.
Philosophy: "In this world, there are three forms of people. The first are youkai, who I have sworn for years to hunt down and exterminate. The second and third are both humans. There are humans who speak, and humans who act. Those who speak are afraid to act, and those who act do not need to speak."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Osamu is a bitter old man with little patience for most anything, and he has an especially bitter resentment for anybody who isn't human. He's seen the world go through so many changes, but he refuses to change with the world, sticking with his traditional Japanese ways and lifestyle. However, when faced with battle, his true colors begin to shine as the honorable and proud warrior he is at heart comes out to fight once again. This great fighter despises battle, but would never run from it. Osamu treats every fight as a battle to the death, and is always sure to remind his foe to treat it the same way.
    Orientation: Lawful Good
    Alignment: Straight

    Likes: Sushi, training, meditation, solitude
Dislikes: Bustling cities, city folk, half moon
    Loved: None
    Hated: Youkai, battle
    Fears: None

Chance of Liking Somebody: Dangerously low
Chance of Disliking Somebody: Fairly high
Chance of Loving Somebody: Mournfully close to zero
Chance of Hating Somebody: 100% for youkai

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Born to an old rice farmer and his wife, Osamu's life at first seemed fairly regular. Work on the farm, and when he'd grow up, he would have been a farmer as well and carried on the family tradition that went back at least 2,000 years. Only, that didn't happen. Instead what happened was his family dying right in front of him at age ten by vampire bites. His mother died swiftly, but his father on the other hand put up one hell of a fight, and struck down all but one of the beasts before falling himself.

After some searching in his father's room, he came across a diary. It detailed the truths most humans were blissfully unaware of. They weren't the only sentient life; all the beasts of people's dreams and nightmare existed. Evidence suggested that Osamu's father was once a specialized hunter of these youkai, and there was a small shrine-like house high in the mountains where he once lived during his career as such. Osamu had decided to go there, and train just as his father did.

For ten years straight, Osamu trained himself through hunger, sickness, fatigue, and whatever else was thrown his way. Nothing got in the way of his training, and at age 20 he emerged from those mountains as a powerful man whose potential had been unlocked. It took virtuallly no time at all for him to burst into the youkai hunting scene, and by age 25, he had established himself as one of Japan's finest.

For fifteen more years he hunted, until disappearing at age 40. He had returned to the mountains to meditate, to try and discover the location of the vampire he needed so badly to strike down, and most importantly, to train not one, but two new youkai hunters. After the decade of training for his apprentices passed, they went on their own way, leaving Osamu behind in his mountain home. Not long after did he find the vampire, and slew him. During his decade of abscence, youkai hunters became global, but he refused to leave his native Japan. However, not long after turning 80 years old, after thirty years of living as a hermit and fading into youkai hunter history, he emerged once again.

His meditation has told him that someday, maybe soon and maybe thousands of years away, a youkai like no other will invade Earth. Osamu came out to train himself on the field once more, to aid others who were training themselves, and if he's still alive when this "ultimate youkai" arrives, he has every intention of killing it, be it by his own hand or by mortally wounding it so another can finish it off.

Osamu's final battle has begun, and he has dedicated all of his time to preparing for it.

Personal Issues: Too dedicated to his duty as a youkai hunter to care about anything else.

    Occupation: Youkai hunter
Goal: Exteriminate all youkai in the world
Deepest Desire: Have a family and a son who will carry on the Tenmizu name.
    Secrets: None

    Extra Information
"Youkai" means any form of non-human creature (vampires, werewolves, demons, etc.)

Having trained for 73 years of his life, Osamu has attributes that are above what most any human can attain.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Osamu went through so many sudden changes when I made this CS that it's not even funny.

First of all, his name changed from Sanzu Kurokawa to Tenmizu no Osamu, which sounds more badass anyway. His appearance changed, his age may have gone down a few years, and at first he had fire magic. I decided not to give Osamu fire powers this time since he's powerful enough as is, and I only really gave him fire last time because of his old appearance.

In my mind, Osamu's sort of an Obi-Wan Kenobi kind of character in that he knows shit's about to go down and he's trying to stop it. Or was that Homura Akemi? Either way, Obi-Wan - a Jedi Master - is a much better comparison for Osamu than Homura - a magical girl with timehax - could ever be.

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 5'10"
    Weight: 152 lbs.
    Hair Color: Black
    Eye Color: Black
    Blood Type: B+

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Devoted
Perception of Strangers: Check for youkai
Perception of Friends: Protect from youkai
Perception of Enemies: Kill the youkai
Global Perception: Youkai are a threat to mankind and must be dealth with.
Philosophy: "Through hard work and dedication, most anything can be done. I mean, look at the technology that popped up in the last twenty years. Back then, we'd say half the stuff we're doing now is impossible!"

    Social Matrix
Personality: Sakura is always determined to get her goal done, but her attention drifts away very easily. She's considered a bit of a ditz, but this is far from the real case. Sakura actually puts a lot of thought into things, and is a very philosophical person when it comes down to it..."whatever it is," she would say. She's a bit of a show-off, but efficiency is more important to her than flair. She's also very caring, and will gladly give somebody emotional support if they need it or listen to whoever needs to speak. On a final note, Sakura is easily embarrassed, so she tries to devote as much time as possible to youkai hunting to avoid getting embarrassed.
    Orientation: Straight
    Alignment: Good

Likes: Having purpose, fulfilling said purpose, cake
Dislikes: Being embarrassed, being flirted with
Loved: Night sky, full moon, the beach, milk
Hated: Alcohol, youkai, anything bad for her body
    Fears: None

    Chance of Liking Somebody: Average
    Chance of Disliking Somebody: Low
Chance of Loving Somebody: Very low
Chance of Hating Somebody: Nearly zero

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Sakura, like most Demon Hunters, has rather humble origins in Japan. She was born in a small rural village near the ocean, and her parents were both fishers. Sakura often went with them out to sea to bring home dinner for that night, and she actually spent more time on the beach than at her own home. The sea breeze, the sand between her toes, the vast expanse of the ocean's waters. She loved it all. Even on stormy days, she would go out to the beach to see firsthand the way the ocean furiously churned and crashed ashore in the storm. Four days before her tenth birthday, Sakura had gotten very sick. Three days later, her parents went missing after they left to go fishing. Not long after that did she get better, but she wasn't aware her parents were missing until the next day.

She wasn't sure what to do, until the very next day when a mysterious old man came to her, offering a solution. His name was Tenmizu no Osamu, and he offered to let her live with him for ten years while he trained her to become a youkai hunter; a secluded elite among humanity that hunted harmful creatures that were beyond the realm of understanding to normal humans. Without skipping a beat, she accepted, and later that day was brought up to the top of a mountain where there was a small shrine-like building; the place where Osamu, and now Sakura as well, lived. A few days later, a second apprentice joined as well; Kouru Yamikami. Sakura and Kouru trained themselves to their absolute limits, often sparring with each other to improve their skill.

But, after so much hard training, eventually ten years had passed, and Sakura was 20 years old and a full-fleged Demon Hunter. Not long after that, Kouru ran away the day he turned 20, leaving Sakura and Osamu. Sakura didn't want to leave; her master was pretty much all she had. Even so, she was given direct orders to leave him and hunt alone, and so she obeyed as any good apprentice would. In the year she's been hunting solo, she's had a few run-ins with Kouru, but she's been too busy with youkai hunting to see how he's been doing.

Personal Issues: Still doesn't know what became of her parents, and fears the worst.

    Occupation: Youkai hunter
Goal: Be the greatest youkai hunter ever
    Deepest Desire: Find her parents
    Secrets: Can't read or write

    Extra Information
    None

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Sakura went through quite a few changes at the very last second. First and foremost, her name was changed to Sakura Izinski from the very similar Sayuka Inziki. Secondly, her image changed, but short of those two things, she hasn't reallly changed all that much. Kinda like her master.

Speaking of her master, Sakura's theme song is a remix of Osamu's, which signifies the closeness between the two. It was Kouru's at first as well, but his current theme suited him better, so I changed it. I guess that's just the difference between Sakura and Kouru, then, isn't it?

    Kouru Yamikami
    (born Taro Kazegami)

    Basic Matrix
    Age: 21
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Osaka, Japan
    Race: Human
Theme Song: The Birthday - Ookami no Nodo

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 185 lbs.
    Hair Color: Light blue (dyed)
    Eye Color: Yellow (colored contacts)
    Blood Type: A-

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Flashy
Perception of Strangers: Varies by gender.
Perception of Friends: Varies by gender.
Perception of Enemies: Varies by gender.
Global Perception: Save the day, look cool doing it.
Philosophy: "I may be just one more in the crowd of youkai hunters, but I'm gonna live on forever. How, you may ask? Simple! If I go down in history as the coolest youkai hunter to ever live, my name will live on forever. Thus, immortality."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Kouru is a very flashy person, and whatever he's doing, he wants to look cool doing it. Even if he's injured, he'll manuver himself in such a way so that even him getting the crap beaten out of him will look cool on his part. Aside from the flashiness, he's pretty cocky and perverted and often misuses his brainpower to get a look up a young woman's skirt. He's actually more infamous for his perverted antics than he is famous for saving lives. But at the very least, Kouru has one good value to him. He always follows what his heart says, and believes that the heart is the true brain of a person. As for what his brain is actually used for, Kouru only uses that lump of meat in his head to think of new ways to be flashy and planning out the next thing that could potentially lead to a sexual lawsuit.
    Orientation: Straight
    Alignment: Chaotic Good

Likes: Girls, eating, youkai hunting, sparring
    Dislikes: Solitude, silence, warm drinks
Loved: Being flashy, being a perv, being Kouru
Hated: Not being Kouru, being called Taro, armor
Fears: Girls who advance in return to his advances

Chance of Liking Somebody: Pretty high
Chance of Disliking Somebody: Rather low
Chance of Loving Somebody: Not very high
    Chance of Hating Somebody: Zero

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Kouru actually hasn't ever grown up with the concept of family. Not long after birth, his parents abandoned him at the doorstep of an orphanage, and Kouru Yamikami is actually a name he gave himself. He was born Taro Kazegami in a small rural town in Japan. He never answered anybody who addressed him as Taro, which quickly led to people almost forgetting that Kouru wasn't even his real name.

Growing up, Kouru was actually a pretty popular kid, considered a friend to child and adult alike; everybody was his friend. Then, on his tenth birthday, an old man came into town, offering Kouru the chance to become something more than what he already was. The man introduced himself as Tenmizu no Osamu, and told Kouru the many truths that most humans were never given. They weren't the only sentient race on Earth; many fantasy stories were based on a hidden reality; there were people who kept these inhuman creatures in check. Just the title youkai hunter was enough to persuade Kouru to take up the decade of training.

Later that day, he was brought to the top of a mountain in Japan, where he met the closest thing to a sister he has. Sakura Izinski was the other apprentice of Osamu, who was like a father figure in Kouru's eyes; the man who trained him, cared for him, and taught him how to be the greatest youkai hunter the world would ever know. Kouru trained hard, and met all of Osamu's strict expectations for a skilled apprentice. However, unlike his dear friend and comrade Sakura, Kouru left the very day his training ended.

Kouru's only been wandering the world with his new training and such for a year, but he's beginning to establish his name in the youkai hunter community. He doesn't care if he's recognized to be as powerful as Tenmizu no Osamu, or as wise; he just cares that they remember the name Kouru Yamikami as the young youkai hunter who hunted with a flair unique to himself and him only.

    Personal Issues: None

    Occupation: Youkai hunter
    Goal: Be remembered forever
    Deepest Desire: Earn Sakura's love
Secrets: Secretly has a crush on Sakura Izinski

    Extra Information
Kouru's fighting style consists of rapid movements and spinning attacks, using momentum more than power to injure and kill his enemies.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Kouru's a very flashy character, so I needed a picture of a character doing something flashy. By a bizarre twist, both Kouru and his master have pictures of Touhou characters as their appearances; Kouru as Rinnosuke Morichika, and Osamu as Youki Konpaku.

That aside, he's a funny character in all who likes to talk big, but he's really not nearly as tough as he talks. I'd like to put him in an RP sometime soon so I can see just what kinds of antics Kouru can get himself into, and the inevitable trouble that would follow.

    Madison "Maddie" Ralo

    Basic Matrix
    Age: 25
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Seattle, Washington
    Race: Human
Theme Song: Rapbit - Hito Toshite Ore Jiku ga Bureiteru

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 6'1"
    Weight: 136 lbs.
    Hair Color: Black
    Eye Color: Brown
    Blood Type: AB-

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Active
    Perception of Strangers: Learn more
    Perception of Friends: Have fun
Perception of Enemies: Make them mad
Global Perception: Work fast, then play
Philosophy: "All work and no play is a really bad idea if your work isn't playing. I can't afford to play around on the job or I'll get in a lot of trouble, but I know that if I get the job done, I'll have plenty of time to play afterwards. Having a great time is the gold medal at the end of the marathon called the daily grind, so every day is an Olympic sport. Make sure to win as many gold medals as you can, both for yourself and for others."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Maddie's a playful, optimistic, somewhat childish young woman who can be a little bit off her rocker sometimes. Her three greatest loves in life are playing, fixing things, and the goggles she's had since childhood. She also has a massive sweet tooth, and can more often than not be seen munching on some form of candy or chocolate, or drinking something with sugar inside. Some people call her immature, but Maddie calls them overly mature in return. She figures that as long as she does what she has to in life, she can be just as immature as she damn well pleases.
    Orientation: Lesbian
    Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Likes: Rainy weather, machines, sci-fi, anime/manga
    Dislikes: Negativity, quitters, lemons, vegetables
Loved: Playing, repairing, her goggles, candy
Hated: Thinking realistically, work she won't enjoy
Fears: Ghosts, priests, cemeteries, the dark

Chance of Liking Somebody: Very high
Chance of Disliking Somebody: Quite close to zero
Chance of Loving Somebody: Rather high for girls
Chance of Hating Somebody: Depends on gender

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Maddie's parents were both big criminals, and at about the time she was concieved, both of her parents were going to start serving a LONG prison sentence, which her mother managed to escape a few months of because of the unborn baby in her belly. On the day Maddie was born, her mother was sent to prison where she belonged, and the baby girl was instead sent to live with her father's sister and her family. Since she lived with them her entire life, her aunt and uncle quickly became loved like her own parents, the only trace of her actual parents aside from photographs and stories being a pair of goggles she was gifted with that once belonged to her father. They were far too big for her when she first got them, but it was the thought that counted.

When Maddie was fourteen years old, her aunt gave birth to a baby boy, and she was ecstatic to finally have a cousin who she could love like a little brother. Maddie adored the little boy and always volunteered to help take care of him. Two years passed, and eventually some unfortunate news passed through Maddie's ears two years too late. Her cousin was born with a major defect in his immune system, which explained to her why he was sick all the time. When Maddie was nineteen years old, her cousin died at five years of age. To say the least, she was heartbroken.

That was when Maddie as she is now began to appear. Her slightly immature antics became a welcome thing in her mind when they came, and when she finished up at college at the ripe age of 24, she moved out to fulfill her lifelong dream. She wanted to be a mechanic, and with a degree in mechanics, it wouldn't be too hard. Maddie did a bit of wandering for a couple of months, and eventually found her dream job with an available spot. She was given the job, with which she bought a small apartment, and ever since, she's been happy as can be.

Personal Issues: Maddie's immature behavior is a subconscious mechanism to avoid being upset over her cousin dying.

    Occupation: Mechanic
Goal: Found an international mechanics company
    Deepest Desire: Meet her parents
    Secrets: Never knew her parents

    Extra Information
Since she doesn't know their names, and her last name is the same as her uncle's, Maddie hasn't been able to find out where her parents are serving their sentence. Her aunt and uncle took just about every measure possible to ensure she couldn't figure it out.

Favorite music genre is (her definition of) J-rock, and it's the only foreign music she listens to.

    Never seen without her goggles.

    Half-Japanese on her mom's side.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Maddie is somebody I made up on the spur of the moment, which is actually perfect for somebody like her.

The only real reason her favorite music genre is what she defines as J-rock (which is pretty much anything with guitars and Japanese lyrics) is because her theme song happened to fall into that category, so there that is. That's also why she's also half-Japanese on her mom's side, but since Maddie's pretty much a genetic clone of her father without a Y chromosome, you can't really tell by looking at her.

If she were straight (or preferably bi) I would so want a chick like Maddie. Funny, smart, not afraid to be more than a little odd...this is how I make interesting characters. Just think of what kinds of lovely young ladies I'd like to have for myself, which is also why just about all of them are girls.

Sometimes a character winds up more suitable as a guy (like Samuel Sang) and that's how my guys are made.

    Kherya

    Basic Matrix
    Age: Testing suggests 22
    Gender: Female
Birthplace: Plains far from modern civilization
    Race: Human
    Theme Song: Tatsh - Shinkirou

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 4'5"
    Weight: 73 lbs.
    Hair Color: White
    Eye Color: Blue
Blood Type: DNA tests indicate O+

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Confused
Perception of Strangers: Strange for their lives
Perception of Friends: Strange for no good reason
Perception of Enemies: Why would one hate others?
Global Perception: Kherya isn't quite sure how to percieve the world around her anymore, and is just trying to understand the one she's been thrown into.
Philosophy: "I do not get it. I cannot understand the way you live when it is so different from the way I was raised. This must be the difference between me and you, and between every person in the world."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Kherya, just as her occupation may somewhat imply, is a very communal kind of person who finds that all people are equal to herself no matter what, however odd she finds the people she's now surrounded with to be. She tries to like everybody and tries to make everybody like her, and the few who she can't make that happen with are ignored completely. She'll gladly do anything for a person if they just ask, but has a special thing for the plants and animals of the world (being her and all) which makes her spiral into a rage if she sees a creature of the earth being harmed. You don't want to be on the recieving end of that rage.
    Orientation: Bisexual
    Alignment: Good

Likes: Plants, people, her old way of life
Dislikes: Being as confused as she is now, clothes
Loved: Animals, her old tribe, natural disasters
Hated: Mankind's progress when at Earth's expense
    Fears: Tornados, earthquakes, solitude

    Chance of Liking Somebody: 99.999%
Chance of Disliking Somebody: Horrifically low
Chance of Loving Somebody: approx. 47%
    Chance of Hating Somebody: 0%

    Personal Matrix
Biography: "In the beginning, there were three divine beings with complete powers of creation. Their names were Kariya, the Mother Goddess I was named for, and the two Father Gods, Ael and Nagra. Kariya was the only woman among them, and her beauty was absolutely breathtaking, but she was only allowed to choose one person to love for all of eternity. Ael was loving and a smooth talker, but Nagra was strong and determined to win her love. In the end, she chose Ael, which triggered the full extent of Nagra's jealousy. He placed a curse on them to turn them into massive orbs of stone, but in his anger it backfired and he was afflicted too. Because of his anger, Nagra became a searing ball of unimaginably hot fire, while Ael constantly spun around his beloved Kariya, trying to reach her. This was how the earth, moon, and sun were created."

"Every night, Ael would try to reach Kariya, but it was no good. And every night, the two cried as their teardrops filled the deepest crevices of Kariya's new stone body. One day, when she was both earth and water, she decided to at the very least make herself beautiful for Ael, and covered herself in bustling green life. This gave Ael a new idea of how to reach her, and he created all over her body creatures that would feed on these plants. Nagra noticed this, and in his eternal rage spawned animals that would devour the creatures that Ael had decorated his lover with. That is how the ocean and life were created."

These are the stories that all members of Kherya's tribe are taught, and all three divine beings were treated about equally by her tribe. She grew up with the destiny of being the next shaman, as she was the current shaman's daughter and only child, also causing her to be the first female shaman her tribe had ever seen. She was to begin her training at age ten, and on her first day she had a terrifying vision of the end of the world. The wrath of the earth and the skies in full destructive force with an explosively hot sun destroying all life. Kariya spent all of her spare time meditating to learn what would cause this, but had no luck.

She spent six years trying to figure it out until a terrible disease came over her tribe, afflicting everybody but her. Her father, in his considerably old age of 87, was the first to die. She made her very best efforts to heal everybody, but it was beyond her power, and she was rendered alone. Kherya grabbed her father's bow, knife, and arrows as she left her village forever. For two years, she hunted alone on the plains using everything she learned to carry over to the next day, and spent the nights crying herself to sleep from being completely and perfectly alone.

That is, however, until she stumbled upon something new. Beyond the secluded mountains that lead to the plains of her tribe, she saw towering buildings impossible for any man to build, and went to investigate. She had entered a city, and as soon as she was found, the police took her in for openly carrying deadly weapons and indecent exposure, and when they finally listened to her story, let it slide this once and moved her into an apartment with the intention of assimilating her into modern society.

She hasn't been adjusting well, especially since she's seen how much damage these cities do to the earth and skies. Kherya was and still is certain: technology was what caused the apocalypse in her vision from so long ago; one that still haunts her dreams. She must find a way to stop it, before it's too late.

Personal Issues: More than a lot of trouble adjusting to her new life

    Occupation: Shaman
Goal: Prevent the apocalypse from her vision
Deepest Desire: Bring back the ways of her tribe
Secrets: Kherya is honest about everything

    Extra Information
Willing to teach the ways and history of her tribe to anybody who asks.

Excellent aim with a bow, but can't even hold a gun straight.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Kherya is sort of what I like to call an "inherited character" meaning she's heavily based upon (and is actually pretty much the same person) as a character from the past.

In this case, it would be the character Kariya, who is still hanging around in my albums. Kherya and Kariya are different only in the sense that Kariya enjoyed wearing leather clothing, and Kherya isn't particularly fond of any clothes at all. She usually wears little more than the shirt she's depicted with just so that she doesn't get another indecent exposure charge.

The name change was because Kherya had a slightly more tribal feel than Kariya. The image change was pretty much neccessary because the one for Kherya was far more fitting for the kind of character I wanted than the one for Kariya was. In all, bringing Kherya into the picture was a pretty special move for me ^_^

    Esteban Cruz
    "Mr. Macabre"

    Basic Matrix
    Age: 506
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Spanish Empire
    Race: Human-turned-Demon
Theme Song: Voltaire - Hell In A Handbasket

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 6'8"
    Weight: 152 lbs.
    Hair Color: White
    Eye Color: Green
    Blood Type: Unknown

    Mental Matrix
State of Mind: One of an entertainer
    Perception of Strangers: Entertain them
Perception of Friends: Give them the ultimate show
Perception of Enemies: No access to the show
Global Perception: Entertain the masses, make profit
Philosophy: "Do you see the landscape around you, and the folks in this area? We are all but actors in the grand play called fate, my dear friend, and your role has yet to be cast. You'd best get the part soon, though, for there are seven-billion people on the stage who may want your part as well. Mine is just that of an entertainer, so I will do such...for a fee, of course."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Esteban is purposely vague and tries to reveal as little as possible. He's fond of tricks that use sleight of hand, and will often use these casually in the middle of a conversation, generally while the other person is speaking. Unlike most demons, he has no interest in harming humans, and actually sees them as a wonderful audience for his magic shows. Because of this, he does his best to befriend both human and demon alike, as well as all other walks of life. There is also a romantic side to Esteban, which often shows after shows or during them when he picks a female volunteer for his next trick.
    Orientation: Ambiguously straight
    Alignment: Neutral

Likes: Music, being entertained, subtle manipulation
    Dislikes: None
Loved: Entertaining others, magic, fairness, drama
Hated: Being called out on anything, magic haters
Fears: Demons more powerful than he is

    Chance of Liking Somebody: 100%
    Chance of Disliking Somebody: 0%
Chance of Loving Somebody: Pretty high, considering
Chance of Hating Somebody: Quite low

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Esteban's origins are unknown, but the most common (and correct) speculations in Hell are that he was born as a magician in Spain who was having trouble making his tricks work. Failing magic meant a failing audience, and eventually he was left with no people to see his magic. Because of no income from no audience, it took little time for Esteban to go hungry, and eventually, he became desperate.

It was in this desperation that he preformed a ritual to whatever demon would hear him out. The demon that answered his call was just the kind he was looking for, which is to say, a powerful one. A pact was worked out between the two, that Esteban would be granted with actual magic powers, but in exchange, he would need to steal the soul of whoever was the volunteer for any tricks that required one, which Esteban then agreed to. With his new and powerful magic, the no-longer human Esteban changed his appearance completely, and marched into town once more, this time as Senor Colmillo (Mr. Blood) and stunned and terrified audiences alike with his new macabre magic tricks.

Be it losing a limb and growing a new one, causing an otherwise inanimate object to bleed, or one trick that was actually made illegal in Spain which involved making his volunteer explode and come back together again, Esteban had his new career as Spain's finest and scariest magician set out well for himself, and he eventually purchased a mansion in Madrid with his earnings.

It was at about that time that the New World was being thouroughly colonized. Just his luck, he figured. Buy a mansion in Madrid, and all this yet-untamed land in the New World springs up. He didn't care. As Mr. Blood, Esteban made plenty of money quickly, and soon purchased a boat to sail across the ocean. Upon arrival, he became a wandering magician, entertaining one and all for the right price.

He seemed particularly happy with the American Revolution, and the very moment that messy affair came to an end, Esteban went to the United States and registered himself as a citizen under the half-true pretense of religious oppression. He's been hopping from one American town to another since, and soon abandoned his old title for his new one, and was known from then on as Mr. Macabre.

Personal Issues: His immortality means he has to fake his death every 60 years or so and falsely pose as his own son (Esteban has no real kids) who takes up the title of Mr. Macabre in place of his "dead" father. He tried confessing to immortality once, but that's a story best left untold.

    Occupation: Magician
Goal: Deliver the greatest show in human history
Deepest Desire: Find a Mrs. Macabre
Secrets: "I'm certainly not an immortal demon~"

    Extra Information
Doesn't steal the souls of female volunteers.

His soul-stealing is subtle, and he usually creates a fake one in its place to minimize notable damage.

His best shows are in October.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
    Esteban is a character who has been swimming around in my head for some time now, but only now did I actually take the time to make him a full CS like this one. This is what happens when I have Labor Day weekend with no library ^_^;

He's really inspired by the Cirque du Freak series, only his magic may be a little gorier than what the Cirque had in store. At one point, I had a whole little troupe for Esteban as well, but only one other member of that survived my shitty memory, and she happens to be in the next CS.

And if you're wondering why so many CSs just popped up at once like this, it's because a lot of these people will be living in some little imaginary town I made up, and I wanna try to get a dozen or two people crafted for this. Osamu also lives there, and so do Sam, Ally, Maddie, and Kherya ^_~

On a final note, as a straight guy completely comfortable with his straightness, I just want to throw out that even I would hit that. As far as men go, Esteban's frickin' sexy.

    Layla

    Basic Matrix
    Age: 56
    Gender: Female
Birthplace: A cemetery in Paris, France
    Race: Sentient Zombie (details later)
Theme Song: Michael Jackson - Thriller

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 5'10"
    Weight: 128 lbs.
    Hair Color: White
    Eye Color: Red
    Blood Type: N/A

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Macabre
Perception of Strangers: Friend or food?
Perception of Friends: Make the best times with them
Perception of Enemies: Om nom nom nom nom...
Global Perception: It can either be a gigantic playground, a magnificent party, or an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Philosophy: "When you get, you have to give back. Mr. Macabre gave me my life back, so I owe him my life, and that is why I serve him so enthusiastically. We live in a give-and-take world where most people don't like to give, but when all you do is take, one day you'll explode from having too much. Don't let that happen! Give back!"

    Social Matrix
Personality: Layla is a bizarre, cheerful, loving oddity of a zombie due to the sentience she was given. She doesn't seem to notice that humans generally don't eat human flesh, but all of her fleshy meals are taken in private by Mr. Macabre's orders. Layla has a particular taste for good food, both normal and macabre, and actively seeks out top-notch restaurants during her spare time. That is, whenever she gives herself spare time from tirelessly working as Mr. Macabre's assistant. She's a bit of a ditz and rather clumsy most of the time, but Layla is determined to get it right.
    Orientation: Straight
    Alignment: Neutral

Likes: Full moon, low temperatures, roses, magic
Dislikes: Spare time, bad food, hot drinks, perfume
Loved: Mr. Macabre, human flesh as meals, her job
Hated: Hot weather, Mr. Macabre-haters, wasting time
Fears: Water, silver, hallowed ground, clowns

Chance of Liking Somebody: Extremely high
Chance of Disliking Somebody: Exponentially low
Chance of Loving Somebody: Reserved for Mr. Macabre
Chance of Hating Somebody: Very near zero

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Her living life, even though Layla can't remember it, was a pleasant one until the end. She was a chef's daughter, and her days and nights were filled with some of the finest cuisine Paris had to offer. Layla often watched her father cook and learned by his example, hoping to one day be a chef just as her father had been. Then her life turned around in the most drastic of ways at the young age of 17.

Layla had been sick that day, so didn't go with her father to drop her little sister off at school, as usual. Therefore, she wasn't in the car when it got slammed into by a drunk driver, and she did not die. Not only did the news tear her heart out, but she now had nowhere to go. She vanished from her house that night, mortified of being put into any kind of community care, taking just the clothes on her back and all the money she could dig up. The first thing she came across was a poster for a magic show happening that Sunday night. Magica Macabre. Layla had the money to go see it, and she badly wanted to see something heart-lifting like magic after the horrible news was handed down.

When Sunday night came, she made her way to the location on the poster, gave the man in the suit her money, and made herself comfy in the front row. Sadly, there was one thing that neither she nor Mr. Macabre expected. The people in Paris weren't fond of his magic, and had sent an assassin to shoot him in the back of the head during his next show. By the most amazing miracle, his head moved just in time to dodge the bullet, with the little piece of metal instead lodging itself in Layla's head, killing her.

The night she was buried, she had a dream. That alone puzzled her, as dead people did not dream. It was a dream about the magician she'd seen just before getting shot, telling her that he was sorry for her being shot at his show like that, and by means of an apology, he was going to use his most powerful magic to give her a second chance if she accepted his offer. He would change her appearance and bring her back from the dead, and she would serve him as a sentient zombie in clever disguise as a human. Layla accepted.

Next thing she knew, she found herself in the USA with no memory of her life or her dream, white hair, a red left eye, and a left one stitched shut. It was then that Mr. Macabre revealed himself once more, this time as her boss and master. Ever since, Layla has been doing whatever Mr. Macabre needed her to do, whenever he needed her to do it.

Personal Issues: Wants to know how she died, but Mr. Macabre refuses to disclose it.

    Occupation: Mr. Macabre's little helper
    Goal: Assist Mr. Macabre forever
Deepest Desire: Hear three words from Mr. Macabre
Secrets: Hopelessly crushing on her boss/master

    Extra Information
Doesn't know that Mr. Macabre's real name is Esteban Cruz.

During Magica Macabre's shows, Layla attends to the audience.

Thinks that everybody else is like her.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Yay, a zombie finally gets onto this thread

At first, I knew everything about Layla except her biography, but for some reason with me, zombies and chefs seem to be linked together a lot :|

Whatever. I can't really say much about Layla that wasn't already said in her CS, other than that she's my first zombie in a very very long time. That makes me happy

    Zelda and Gretchen Magi

    Basic Matrix
    Age: 57
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Brunswick, Germany
    Race: Human
    Theme Song: Pugna Cum Maga

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 5'8"
    Weight: 127 lbs.
    Hair Color: Purple
    Eye Color: Pink
    Blood Type: B-

    ZELDA...
    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Solitary
Perception of Strangers: Fodder for the ritual?
Perception of Friends: None, short of Gretchen
Perception of Enemies: Kill it with fire!
Global Perception: The world is a dark and corrupt place, and only one witch will ever change that. That is why the ritual must happen.
Philosophy: "Corruption. It's inside every person and object in the mundane world. We, who live in the arcane world right in front of it, are almost always pure. Magic is purity, and the world must be purified if it will ever become what it wishes to be."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Zelda is a girl of few words, preferring to instead expend her energy on the supposed purification of the world. Blindly faithful to her twin, Zelda will always do whatever is asked of her in the name of purifying the world. However, she's unable to comprehend the very notion that Gretchen is actually the corrupt one, and believes that her twin is doing the right thing. Even more regrettably, Zelda has massive trouble understanding people in general, and therefore is a very bad speaker.
    Orientation: Straight
    Alignment: Neutral

Likes: Purity, happy endings, dreams, cats
    Dislikes: Getting wet, undead
Loved: Gretchen, Gretchen's plan to purify the world
Hated: Corruption, discord, suffering, fear, evil
    Fears: Crowds, snakes, dragons, unicorns

Chance of Liking Somebody: Moderately high
Chance of Disliking Somebody: Normally low
Chance of Loving Somebody: Almost zero
Chance of Hating Somebody: Depends on many factors

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Out of the Magi twins, Zelda is the older one by a whole fifteen minutes. Her father was never anywhere to be seen or heard of, and their mother was a witch just as they would be. Their mother taught them all the things they would need to know, all the things they would need to do, and all the things they needed to know not to do. Though born in Brunswick, it wasn't long after that her mother took her twin children into the Harz mountains north of the place, and raised them there instead. As the years passed, the two began to develop differently as far as magic went.

While her twin's magic focused on tapping into worlds beyond this one, Zelda's magic had a more direct impact on the world they resided in. Typical spells included fireballs, lightning bolts, the odd blizzard here and there, and Zelda's personal favorite, a combination of the three she made herself. Once she'd designed her own spell, she was a fully-developed witch, and at about the same time, Gretchen passed this test as well, and the two were sent off to live their lives. Gretchen had pointed out so many things to her since then. Whenever the younger twin saw corruption, she pointed it out to Zelda, constantly reminding her of how corrupted the world really was.

Sometimes, Zelda wished to destroy it all, but she knew that doing so would get her nowhere fast. Instead, Gretchen offered up a plan to make the world a pure place of peace, harmony, and righteousness. Gretchen claimed to know of a ritual that could call upon a witch who was so powerful, that she could change the entire world with just a snap of her fingers. It sounded good with Zelda, and the plan to initiate the ritual was set up.

According to Gretchen, the ritual requires the power of two witches, and each one must have stolen and saved up the souls of 500,000 living human beings. Stealing living human souls is very difficult business, as the human generally dies once they're hit with the spell, rendering the soul useless for Gretchen's ritual. Still, out of over 132,730 attempts, Zelda has stored up 6,723 souls. She has a long way to go, but she'll try as many times as it takes for the world to be a pure place.

Personal Issues: Zelda thinks that something seems wrong with this ritual, but she's not sure what it is. She also refuses to believe that Gretchen has anything to do with the wrong part of it.

    Occupation: Witch
Goal: Purify the world with Gretchen's ritual
Deepest Desire: See that her twin really cares
    Secrets: Mildly schizophrenic

    GRETCHEN...
    Mental Matrix
State of Mind: Corrupted by power
Perception of Strangers: Fodder for the ritual
Perception of Friends: Fodder for the ritual
Perception of Enemies: Fodder for the ritual
Global Perception: The world is what one makes it, and Gretchen plans to make it hers.
Philosophy: "I will say it as many times as I must to make the world aware. We live in a corrupted place, where people conspire against their own flesh and blood, all in the name of furthering their own personal agendas. I wish to not live in a place where I will ever conspire against my twin sister."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Gretchen is above all else, sociopathic with no regard for the well-being of anyone or anything other than herself. She may pretend to care, but without exception, any shred of affection she may ever show is nothing more than an act to make people assist her. In truth, Gretchen is unable to feel human emotions, but is able to fake them well enough to fool most people. However, she also has a lack of tolerance for lying. If given a question, she will answer honestly, but will make certain to omit any information that could turn against her. Gretchen believes that the world cannot be ruled fairly as long as its leaders can feel emotions, and therefore be biased. That is why she believes it is only right that somebody without emotions like herself take command of the world, even if it must be done by force.

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Out of the Magi twins, Gretchen is the younger one by a whole fifteen minutes.

Zelda's magic influenced the world around her, but Gretchen's went a step further by calling upon the power of the worlds beyond this one. With no sense of emotion at all, and with this kind of power in her hands, Gretchen came to believe that she would be the best individual on the planet to rule the world fairly and equally. And so, with that, her grand scheme began. The champion of her cause, she decided, would be Zelda, who hated corruption. As such, Gretchen made certain to point out corruption wherever it could be seen, and divert Zelda's attention from any purity she could find.

What she had said was that it would call upon a witch so powerful, that she could change the world with her fingertips. What Gretchen didn't tell Zelda, however, was that the supposed witch would actually be Gretchen herself after enacting a strictly forbidden ritual that would drain everybody in the world of their magic. It required the power of two witches, and each of them needed to store 500,000 living human souls for it to work. Gretchen explained only what she had to, and sent her sister off to work.

Capturing human souls while they're still alive is exceptionally difficult, as most of the time they die instantly upon leaving the body. Even Gretchen has only been able to capture 9,286 so far out of over 100,000 attempts, but she knows that it's possible to gather all the souls needed for the ritual. And when that day comes, all the magic in the world shall be hers, and with it, the world itself will finally have a monarch with absolutely no bias at all.

    Personal Issues: None

    Occupation: Witch
    Goal: Rule the world
Deepest Desire: Unable to feel desire
    Secrets: None

    Extra Information
Zelda is the one on the left; Gretchen's on the right.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Man, I practically had to write two CSs here, which was most certainly not fun.

That aside, there's some heavy etymology and whatnot going on with these two. Zelda's name doesn't have as much of a meaning short of being a reference to the princess in Legend of Zelda, which is ironic given that she's the one following orders instead of making them. But Gretchen's name and their birthplace, as well as their very birthday, have a deeper meaning.

Gretchen's name is a reference to the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, with Kriemhild Gretchen being the single most powerful entity in the entire series (until the final episode), however short her appearance may have been. The twins being born in Brunswick was also chosen on purpose, as north of Brunswick one will find the Harz mountains, and in those mountains on April 31st (their birthday) the witches' festival known as Walpurgis Night is said to be held upon Brocken, the highest peak in the range.

Though it's very distant, the place and date I chose for these two to be born in is a reference to the very same anime again, with the Witch known as Walpurgisnacht being the second-most powerful in the series, bested only by Kriemhild.

Yet another reference to Madoka Magica is seen in Gretchen's inability to feel human emotions, much like Kyubey could not. Also like Kyubey, Gretchen's plans are not what she implies that they are, though she never lies when given a question.

Lastly, their theme song also comes from Madoka. I believe it's become very clear that I (somehow) based these two off that anime.

    Zoey Piaana

    Basic Matrix
Age: Resurrected 6 weeks ago (deceased at 18)
    Gender: Female
Birthplace: Cemetery in New York, New York
    Race: Zombie
    Theme Song: Voltaire - Dead

    Physical Matrix
    Height: 5'4"
    Weight: Dead weight
    Hair Color: Red
    Eye Color: Blue
Blood Type: Unknown (created by Mr. Macabre's magic)

    Mental Matrix
    State of Mind: Half-there
Perception of Strangers: Wishes to know more
Perception of Friends: Glad to know such people
    Perception of Enemies: N/A
Global Perception: The world is a big show, and Zoey has been cast into the role of an entertainer. (gained from hanging around her boss/master)
    Philosophy: None

    Social Matrix
Personality: Zoey lacks half a brain, and with that, naturally has trouble processing thought and doing most things people do every day without even trying, the greatest example of this being her inability to speak, but the issue as a whole has made her seem mentally impaired. Which, technically, she is. It doesn't take much to get Zoey's attention, and not much more to fascinate her. She may not be too bright, but Zoey can understand when she's asked to do something, and will usually do whatever anybody asks of her, just like in life. However, when not asked to do anything, Zoey doesn't really do much.
    Orientation: Straight
    Alignment: Neutral

    Likes: Nearly everything
    Dislikes: None
Loved: Sweets, eating, music, reading, magic
Hated: Water, hot weather, loud noises, yelling
    Fears: Heights, knives

    Chance of Liking Somebody: 100%
    Chance of Disliking Somebody: Zero
Chance of Loving Somebody: (doesn't understand love)
    Chance of Hating Somebody: Zero

    Personal Matrix
Biography: According to accounts gathered from the people closest to Zoey in the final days of her life, she was once an aspiring musician and an avid reader. Once upon a time, she was a faithful Christian child who believed thouroughly in God, and was certain he would help her become the musician she so deeply wanted to be. At age fifteen, when her musical ability reached its highest point in her life, things began to happen, none of them pleasant. Through a tragic chain of events, Zoey found herself in the course of two weeks going from an upper-middle class child loved by her family with a bright future ahead, to a girl with no home, family, or money. Every night, she prayed, and every night, nothing changed.

In her desperate condition, dark thoughts plagued her mind, the most common one being that she was forgotten by the very divine being that created her. It took almost no time at all for her to turn her back on religion, but with that, she lost any hope she had of getting back on her feet, and slowly but surely began to give up on everything. The once avid reader never looked at the inside of a book again; the talented musician came to despise the very thing she wanted to create, and at seventeen years old, Zoey found herself on a rooftop dozens of stories above New York City's streets, with a sharp knife in hand. Zoey never jumped. Instead, she slit her throat at the edge of the roof, making a fast and bloody descent back to the streets when she died of blood loss, losing a number of body parts on impact when she hit the car of an unwary passerby.

At the small funeral held for her, her corpse was never displayed, with the right half of her head missing, as well as her entire left leg, and most of her right arm. She remained in the grave for some time, until she found herself awakening with a horrible headache. Not long after was her coffin being hauled up out of the six feet of dirt, and opened to reveal to her a man in a magician's suit. He introduced himself as Mr. Macabre, and apologized for taking so long in finding a worthy person like herself. Much of her life's memories were gone, but the ones she still had gave her an idea of what Mr. Macabre was looking for.

He needed a musician in his troupe of entertainers, called Magica Macabre. Her faith in religion may have not returned, but her desire to be a musician did come back to her as she accepted his pact. In exchange for this second chance, all Zoey needed to do was serve Mr. Macabre. It was an offer she couldn't refuse, and has been working with Magica Macabre ever since she was given replacement body parts five weeks ago.

Personal Issues: Doesn't know who she really is

    Occupation: Musician for Magica Macabre
Goal: Be accepted into human society as a musician
Deepest Desire: Know who she was in life
    Secrets: None

    Extra Information
Every Wednesday, a sickness overcomes Zoey that is an unfortunate side-effect of Mr. Macabre resurrecting her mutilated corpse. The symptoms are vomiting blood, paralysis, and blindness.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Zoey is a unique character, since she's the third character in the Magica Macabre troupe, meaning she's the first one who wasn't planned out beforehand. Musicians are a relatively common thing among my characters (or they were once upon a time) but aside from Samuel Sang, Zoey's the first musician I've had since starting this thread.

At first, I wanted her death to be a brutal murder, but a suicide had more impact, so I went with that instead. Even then, I had slightly different plans for Zoey's death, but again wound up doing things differently. At first, I wanted her to do it over being hopelessly bullied and having her dream of being a musician mocked relentlessly, instead of losing just about everything, but once again, my characters took over. It wound up being what you see now, but that's okay.

I think I'll try to do a few more Magica Macabre characters, until I get seven or so people, including Mr. Macabre. So now it's three

    Mental Matrix
State of Mind: On the hunt
Perception of Strangers: Do not associate
Perception of Friends: Keep an eye peeled
Perception of Enemies: Reserved for demons/undead
Global Perception: This is a world for the living and righteous. Demons and undead will not be tolerated.
Philosophy: "In this world, there is order, and there is chaos. Order rewards the righteous, punishes the wicked, and ensures that civilization is as peaceful and structured as possible. Chaos cuts innocent lives short, rewards the wrong, punishes the right, and causes suffering the world over. Even when they're put into those terms, the world needs chaos, because if there's no chaos, order can never be enforced, and we'll just find ourselves back at square one again."

    Social Matrix
Personality: Although the title "exorcist" is generally reserved for those who exclusively exterminate demons and undead, Alice takes her responsibility even further and protects human life from whatever may threaten it, though she only actively hunts demons and undead. She believes that the world thrives on balance, and demons and undead will harm that balance, so she hunts them down. Alice generally tries to not associate herself with others and do as little as possible in public, so as to make her footsteps harder to follow. To those she does associate with, however, Alice can and will prove to be fiercely loyal until the bitter end, and will never lie to or betray anybody.

    Alignment: Neutral

Likes: Knowing she helped others, saving lives
    Dislikes: Being followed, questions, delays

Fears: Canines, water, her allergies to honey/nuts

    Chance of Disliking Somebody: Low
Chance of Loving Somebody: "Never again..."
Chance of Hating Somebody: Very low

    Personal Matrix
Biography: Alice didn't always want to be an exorcist; that was originally the dream of her older sister, May. At first, she had wanted to be a nurse. When she was gifted with a younger sister at the young age of five, Alice not only became a middle child, but had the perfect chance to get lots of practice in to be a nurse, as her younger sister's immune system was very weak, causing her to be ill very frequently. For some twelve years, Alice did everything in her power to take care of the younger sister, until a most fateful day about four months after Alice turned fifteen.

May was continuously failing in her studies and training to become an exorcist, and just about everybody had told her to give up and follow Alice's example by aspiring to something a little more normal. May refused to give up on the dream to be an exorcist, and did the one thing exorcists were strictly forbidden from doing. She had conspired with a demon for power, so that she could be the one thing she no longer could be. In the course of that day, the demon she conspired with ripped apart the bodies and souls of almost every member of the Scarlet family. ALMOST all of them. Alice lost an eye, but she lived, even if the same couldn't be said for the rest of her family, including her two sisters who died in her arms.

That was when Alice wanted to become an exorcist. However, she couldn't work toward it in El Paso, where the memories of her family would haunt her. She grabbed a few personal items, including her older sister's favorite stuffed rabbit, and left town that day, not letting any authorities find or stop her. She studied on the go, taking in whatever knowledge she could from whatever town she passed through before moving on her way once again so as to not be spotted by any law officials who would undoubtedly question her and probably accuse her of murder. For four more years, Alice kept doing this until she not only got far enough away from home that she would be safe from questioning, but also knew all she had to in order to become an exorcist.

Her first few missions as an exorcist were no big deal, until about ten missions in, when she was asked to clean out a supposedly cursed church. When Alice went in alone, she barely got out alive, and the mission wasn't completed yet. Instead, she had to go to the hospital to get fixed up, and later that day in a cafe, a random stranger had asked Alice how she got all beat up. After Alice had explained herself, the stranger introduced herself as a fellow exorcist, and days later, the two returned to the cursed church together, and cleared the place out. Alice got her paycheck, and said her goodbyes since she would be leaving town.

What she got in return was an offer to be roommates with this other exorcist, and Alice accepted. For a year, the two hunted together, until they were handed the enviable task of clearing out an entire suburb that had been taken over. Alice and her newfound partner went in, and for five days, they did nothing but exorcise, until there was but one demon left. Even if she didn't want to, Alice recognized it. This was the same demon May had conspired with years ago.

Both Alice and her partner fought, but in the end, Alice's partner was mortally wounded and the demon fled. Once again, Alice was left with death. At the age of twenty, she had already lost an entire family and now a comrade who was more than just a fellow exorcist; more than just any friend. Just like last time, Alice grabbed a few personal items, this time including a photo of both herself and her partner, taken about eight months into their partnership; four months into a relationship.

For the last seven years, Alice has hunted alone, associating herself with nobody, and letting nobody win her heart. She put up this rock-hard shell as a means of protecting herself from any more loss, and she intends to keep it up until she can avenge every loss she's suffered so far.

    UnendingEmpire's Notes
Well, she's an exorcist, so Alice has to be at least a little badass. One thing I've noticed about exorcists in games and anime is that they generally just lose a family member or their entire family. I wanted to one-up all of them, so I created Alice's backstory the way I did. Another interesting point is her theme song; Alice and the Remilia referenced in the title share the last name of Scarlet, that Remilia being none other than Remilia Scarlet from the Touhou series.

Her first name, Alice, could also be seen as a reference to Alice Margatroid from the same series, who used dolls as the general "unit of power" for her fighting, with the stuffed rabbit being a doll in the case of my Alice. Even if it seems that way, I didn't intend for her name to reflect Alice Margatroid; I only wanted the Remilia Scarlet reference.

Originally, I was going to have Alice's partner get possessed instead of killed and give her a CS right after this one, but as they will from time to time, the character took over and said "No, the partner must die" to me.
