Changes - Developing Powers and Drama - OOC

    IC IS UP! http://www.roleplayerguild.com/showthread.php?t=159490

If your character isn't in a scene with another person's character then feel free to add some development to them when you want though - not all the time, obviously, but there's no reason your life can't go on a short way ahead - just try to keep within a week's timeframe of the general plot.

Let me know if you have any concerns, or issues.

http://sync.in/ChangesRP - the dialogue for multi-character interactions can be planned here.
    ___________

Hey, I've had some interest in the other forum, so I thought I'd make the OOC thread.

Heroes was a show about people all over the world developing supernatural abilities, similar to superheroes. The show had them keep their powers secret, though certain organizations had knowledge of the people. It ran for 4 seasons, though after the first the quality went seriously downhill.

    The Idea
Each of the players would create an OC, from whatever background they want and have them developing a power. Through some sort of convenient circumstance, the characters would interact with each other, and help each other understand what is happening to them.

As the creator, I would also be RP'ing the villain who would, after some character development, be introduced to throw a spanner in the works. His CS will be kept secret, as it would ruin the surprise otherwise.

It's only going to be based off Heroes, with no canon characters occurring - though you can take influence from their powers.

I'm open to suggestions on whether there's any form of public knowledge/government intervention into the lives of people with these abilities.

If you want romance as a subplot, feel free to write it - don't feel it's necessary though.

    The Characters

As stated, I will be playing the role of the villain, as well as a character of my creation.

The characters can typically only have one power, and it can't be something like power-stealing. If you want multiple related powers, you can ask, but be prepared to justify why you need the extra ability, and how it isn't going to unbalance the RP.

My character(s) will follow the same rules, though the villain is likely to have more than one power.

The characters are all only just learning about the powers - expect them to have some difficulty controlling them at first.

    My Character

    Name: Lyra Mia Cannon

    Age: 16

    Gender: Female

Appearance (images are fine, as is text):

Personality: Lyra is quite shy, preferring to keep to a close-knit group of friends, and avoid the large crowds in high school cliques. She's extremely intelligent, and has a natural curiosity that is hard to quell - because of this, she's always looking for new things to learn and can be seen with a book in her hands. She's loyal to her friends, and will defend them resolutely, even from one another.

Short Bio: Lyra was born and raised in the small town of Baystone, FL. An only child, her parents away at work left her plenty of time to read - this made her rather unpopular at school, as she wasn't a fan of the drama and the beach in the same way as most of her peers. Now a junior at Baystone High, she struggles even more with being around her peers, as all but one of her friends have now abandoned her in an effort to become more popular.

Power: Telekinesis - Lyra has the power to manipulate energy fields, allowing her to move objects at will with her mind - restricted merely to small objects at first, with training the power and precision will come.

Other Information: Lyra's only friend is Alia DuClairmont.

    Name: Professor Damien Underhill

    Age: 79

    Gender: Male

Appearance (images are fine, as is text):

Personality: A rather uptight elderly man now, Professor Underhill isn't fond of children or trivial matter - he would rather concern himself with tackling the big problems occuring in the world (or at least what he perceives as a problem). He's rather grouchy and hard to get along with, but will provide anyone with respect if he feels that they have earned it. Set in his ways, he is also not very fond of change.

Short Bio: Professor Underhill is an Oxford Scholar, having taught at the university for over fifty years. His primary field is human psychology, but his passion lies in understanding advanced genetics. For years, he has saved the majority of his salary, looking for an opportunity to develop his research in genetics.

Power: Body manipulation - he can change his body, reducing and increasing his age.

    Other Information: None

    Aeval Corrigan Sheerwater

    (Without the wings of course.)

    Age:
    Twenty-five

    Height:
    5' 2"

    Information:
Aeval is a pleasant girl, much to her namesakes she is more than a little mischievous. She is sensual and romantic, always seducing someone or another. She can often be found stirring up trouble and causing heartache by using her dashing good looks to leave men speechless. She loves to dance, she could dance the night away and often does. She loves to be surrounded by other people and beings of any kind so long as they are willing to enjoy themselves as she does. She's a bit care free as far as things go but it is her nature.
Aeval does have a kind of magic, she can read others emotions and draw them out so that others can feel them as well. She can influence them mildly, only increase or decrease the severity but not eliminate or make them extreme. She would be able to assist with in communication and teamwork issues.

I'd like her to have a secondary related power a well. It's animal communication, animals communicate with sounds but also with emotions pushed outwards so others can understand them in silence. She can understand domestic animals best but wild animals are much harder and take long periods of repeated exposure for her to clearly understand them. Birds and such or animals that are around people frequently are easier and much like domestic animals for her. The less the animal comes Ito contact with humans the harder it is to understand them. She can ask animals to do things for her but not control them or influence their emotions. She can speak with animals by way of emotions. She understands them and vice versa. As a result Aeval is never alone, animals are drawn to her, birds flutter in trees near by and dogs strain against their leashes to be petted by her. Aeval loves animals just as they love her.

    Name: Eli Shepard

    Age: 26

    Gender: Male

    Appearance:

Personality: Though angry and prone to outbursts in previous years, Eli has changed drastically after discovering his ability. Now, he is seemingly always at peace, which he attributes to his renewed faith in a higher power. Eli always seems willing to go along with the flow and help anyone that needs it. He often smiles, however, seemingly knowing something that everyone else does not.

Short Bio: The son of a pastor, Eli was a faith healer who traveled around the country with his father to perform miracles. With his father always encouraging him and preaching before his healings, Eli genuinely believed that he was helping people. When he was older, he was finally approached by a skeptic at one of his services, who challenged him by asking if he had ever followed up on those he had seemingly healed. Stunned, Eli confronted his father, who freely revealed that their services were just a source of income to him. Wracked with self-doubt, Eli had a crisis of faith and spent the next decade of his life soul-searching. He traveled the world, experiencing what it had to offer without the limits of his faith, and often found himself traveling with the "wrong" kind of people. He learned various tricks and trades, often illegal, which he put to good use to fund himself and survive as he continued exploring the darker corners of the world. Eli's entire outlook changed again, however, after discovering his new ability. This unexpected blessing inspires him with a vague spiritualism and renews his faith in a greater purpose.

Power: Reactive adaptation - Ability to develop a resistance or immunity to whatever he was injured by or exposed to; however, these gains are usually temporary. His body automatically adapts to any situation or environment he is placed in, allowing him to survive what might be lethal to others.

Other information: Wears a small gold cross

Feeling a bit lazy so just tweaked the last character I wrote up.

I envision the power as mainly defensive, kind of like Spider-Man's spider sense but with the twist that his body actually changes in response to the danger. It'd be involuntary, and very limited at first, but as the power grows, maybe he can do it voluntarily and have more than one change at once? Just my thoughts. Let me know if I have to change it.

    Name:John Doe
    Age:23
    Gender:male
Appearance (images are fine, as is text):
    Personality:
    Short Bio:
Power: HIs power is multiple personality disorder. IN his mind is a field with three people in it. A little boy who never talks. A ruthless, cold blooded man who loves killing. He's obsessed with it. AS well as a gentle knowledgable man. He can only have 4 people in him at once, the 4rth being elective they decode what would help them and take a man. ( In a fight if they need marine skills they would pick a veteran ) This has a side effect. The man they pick is real somewhere in the world he goes into a coma. They can release him back into his life, or if he dies then so does the man in the coma
    - If 1 personality dies the body lives and the next takes it place
( He can't choose powers, it doesn't work like that. )
    Other Information:

If you approve the power I'll make the rest.
    Christian, and proud of it!
The leader and founder of the cult of Gir.

    Name: Ray Halden

    Age: 19

    Gender: Male

Appearance (images are fine, as is text):

Personality: Ray is a quiet and reserved person. He keeps to himself most of the time and avoids any problematic situations when possible. He has trouble connecting with others, so he has very few friends. Although he is distant, he is polite and tries not to upset people.

Short Bio: Ray had a normal childhood. Good parents, decent house, enough money to get by. He was just an average kid. By the time he entered high school, he began to fall into the wrong crowd. They pressured him into trying drugs and alcohol. He was able to control drinking, never getting too drunk and he wasn't an alcoholic. He actually didn't like alcohol. But his real problem was heroin. It consumed his life, and soon became all he was about. People told him when he was high, he was more fun to be around. He liked the feeling of people actually wanting to hang out with him. That paired with heroin's highly addictive nature made it his life. Eventually he realized he needed help, and after a long time in rehab, he was finally clean. He's been drug free for a year and a half, but the urge is still there and he isn't sure how much longer he can fight it.

Power: Invisibility - Right now it is involuntary and on a small scale.

Other Information: Still smokes cigarettes. I also imagined him as being gay, but I don't think that will come into play at all. Just thought I'd mention it :3

Gotta say I'm somewhat curious. I had a character in a Heroes rp a while back that had energy manipulation as his power but it basically made him a green lantern. He could absorb and manipulate any form of energy, electrical, Kenetic and so on and use that to create solid light constructs in the shape of whatever he could imagine.

I also started to run a guy that could manipulate gravitational a fields. Would this be a potentially satisfactory power? I would plan for him to be VERY cut, toned and well muscled but not bulky. Over time he has slowly been increasing the gravitational force on his own body. Instead of wearing weights or working out he goes through his everyday in currently three or four G's so he's physically in exceptional shape.

(yes I stole the idea from Dragonball Z and the gravity rooms)
    I am... The Legendary Ass!

    Name: Alexander Hyll
    Age: 21

    Gender: Male

Appearance: Alexander (or Alex) is an average young adult. He is of average height, with a rather skinny build, which makes him seem taller than he actually is. His black hair barely covers his hazel eyes. He usually doesn’t care too much about what he wears, though he hates sandals. Normally, he will be wearing a pair of jeans with a dark hoodie, and his iconic lime green beanie. Despite his normally dark attire, he refuses to go out without this.

Personality: Alexander is a very reclusive person. He usually avoids social contact as much as possible. When forced into talking with people, he is forcedly polite, unless he is well aquainted or trusts the person.

Short Bio: Alex was the youngest member of a very doting family. The sort of family that were afraid to let him go to public schools, or visit friends. He became afraid of people other than his family, and was homeschooled.

During the summer of the 11th grade, Alex set his home on fire. He was cooking, and was distracted by a phone call with one of the few girls he knew outside of his family. He managed to escape, but his entire family passed away. Alex refused to go to social services, and instead moved away, and faked his age so he could rent an apartment.

As time progressed, Alex began to become a bit of an alcoholic. He would go to bars nearly every night to drown away his sorrows, with limited success. One day, he got involved in a fight with a man. Alex flinched, and felt the punch go straight through him. Alex panicked, and ran off before the man could try again.

Power: Phasing. Alex can phase through most objects, though not ones that are large or possess a very high density. (Later on, walls and stuff, but right now, barely anything)

    Other Information: Alex is left-handed.

If there are any changes or elaborations that need to be made, let me know! Thanks!

I already had my character have gravity manipulation, Pockets, but I'll change it if you want it. I'm having second thoughts about it anyway. ^^

Valar, Buckskin, love both of them, so Accepted!

Sev, Pockets - I'm happy with both of those ideas, but you should probably work out between yourselves the gravity thing - if Pockets' character can only influence the gravity on people's bodies, then its basically a different power to manipulating gravity.

    ThatPerson, Accepted!

boredbrain - I'm a little confused how the power would work, if they just take a man's personality then why would he fight with them? Or did you mean something like there's a central controlling mind, and they get the memories and skills of the absorbed personality (for as long as they have them inside)?

I'll just do something different, to give us both more freedom without having to worry about overlapping or anything like that. And to give more diversity. Edited :]
