    Bleach - Rising Stars

The final days of this Academy year, a multitude of graduating Shinigami slowly, but surely, being admitted to a division they applied for. For now, however, that was all being placed on hold, for Graduation was set to begin at any moment. The Captain-Commander, whose name was a secret within itself, stood proud upon a platform of reiatsu, surrounded to either side, by the twelve other Court Squad Captains; the even numbered to his right, and the odd to his left. Below them, Zanpakuto in varying positions, were their Vice-Captains, looking down at their potential subordinates. Many had still not arrived, and many wouldn’t, until only minutes before the ceremony. Each Captain, and Vice-Captain, lowered their reiatsu to a manageable state, as to not overbear the freshly graduated Shinigami with what could only be described, by the students, as a solar system amount of spiritual energy.

‘Bakuda number 77: Tenteikura.’ One of the Captains said, presumably the 13th Squad’s, sending a message to the keeper of the Hell’s Butterflies. The Kido did not waste time reaching its destination, triggering a flock of the animals to fly out, with the message of ‘Come to the Ceremony, for it is to begin within the next five minutes. Tardiness is punishable publically, to your Captain’s whims; absence is dealt with by expulsion from the ranks.’ to those graduates who had not made it to the appointed area yet. A slight murmur had arisen in the already gathered students, as nearby students hurriedly walked through the Academy doors and took their seats. Zanpakuto laid across their laps, the same way they did at practice. All eyes turned up towards the Captains and Vice-Captains, particularly upon the ones that they would be directly serving. Only a few seats were yet to be filled, and the ceremony was only a few minutes off.

    ----

Mattaki Xue, a relatively quiet young adult, sat mutely upon the roof of his family home. While not in one of the best districts, the house was somewhat above average; his family had always maintained such a place. Here, he was simply visiting, before he was set to graduate from the academy. A book lay off to his left, presumably taken from the human world by one of his teachers when they were sent on a mission there. Currently, he was half-way through the text, before he placed it, paper-side down; and looked out at what he may not see again for a very long time; his old neighborhood. He could see himself, as a child, running around, carefree, on the dusty streets with a plethora of friends. Mattaki missed that aspect of his life, but his parents insisted on going to the Academy to pursue higher education and assistance to the military. Who was he to tell those whom reared him, no?

At his right, a Hells Butterfly landed on the spine of the novel, and transmitted the message sent by the Captains. Flash-stepping from atop the roof, and forgetting the book, he told his parents he was going ahead and that they should probably hurry. With that, he vanished from the porch and headed towards the Soul Societies’ Center; coming to a stop outside the walls that would forbid his current pace. Passing through, he found himself walking amongst a group of friends, and classmates. The sight of the Captains above, frightened him a little bit. However, he found himself seated and placed his decorated Zanpakuto along his lap; placing the tip against the hilt of the girl to his right.

    ----

“Shinigami!” The Captain-Commander spoke, when the five minute interval elapsed. His reiatsu spiked, as though his voice had not been loud, or powerful enough to garner the attention of the senior students. He could see the students below, gasp and freeze beneath his remarkably solid reiatsu. Having hid the elemental nature of it, they did not suffer any adverse effects aside from the trembling fear he had just instilled within them all. “Welcome to your Graduation from the Shino Academy. I am proud of you all, for graduating, and completing the curriculum to the best of your abilities. Around you, you see the very people that have toiled with you, whom have sat through mandatory lessons with you, and have suffered your punishments alongside you.” His hand reached out and swept across the crowd. “Around you, you see your instructors! Around you, you see your caretakers. The very people whom helped develop you into the Shinigami you are now, and the very same who will help shape the Shinigami you are in the future!”

As the Captain Commander let the words sink in, the rather rigid woman, Kongoufue Gunkisha, looked at the students. Remarkably, each that had been assigned to her squad, immediately raised from a slouched position and sat up straight; eyes perpetually upon the female Captain. Szazel’s subordinates eerily watched their Captain, focusing on the odd pommel of his weapon. The rest of the students focused on other things, slowly shifting focus to those around them, and then back to the Captains above.

“Today marks a day of excellence, today marks the rest of your lives. True, the dangers are immense, death, betrayal, hard work. But, it is not without reward. What greater gift is there, than to be able to protect the Soul Society from the enemies of today, the perils of the past, and the misfortunes of the future. Serve the Soul Society to the best of your abilities, protect your friends and family, uphold the law! My now fellow Shinigami, rejoice in the fact you‘ve made it past a point many would not! Admire each other‘s courage to undertake such a rigorous curriculum! Glance upon the people whom you have sworn your allegiance, the people who now hold your life in their hand. This is now your second family, these are now your brothers and sisters. Us Captains and Vice-Captains, are now your fathers, mothers, and uncles. Graduating Shinigami! You are now one step closer to the rest of your lives, and we, as well as your families, could not be more proud.”

His speech drew to a close; and the students were permitted to leave. The Captains, themselves, spread quickly and vanished into the air.

Hideyoshi stood where he was and listened to the speech. He was proud of his achievements into a new more dangerous world. His Zanpakuto sheathed and hung around his waist. He was wondering how his new career would end, would it end in victory and fame or death and a casket? Regardless he was not one to shurk his duty to the ones he is dedicated to and his higher ups. He was all too aware of his miniscule status but he knew his ancestor Hideyoshi Habashi/Toyotomi would definately approve of his sucess. He cheered when it was over raising a hand in the air his robes on clean and his sunglasses resting ontop of his nose. His proctors gave him credit with being one of the more moderate leveled sword users. However his skills in hand to hand was poor just enough to pass but not the worst. His thinking and speed however made up for the fact of his short comings. The world was about to become something else for this young man. He walked to where he was needed next and hoped that his captain would not be a hardass.

Kokura had ended up at the ceremony rather early on, when there weren't many others there already, and had ended up near the side so he could see everything around him better. He had come early simply to see which students were the punctual, because while he wasn't too bothered by rules, punctuality was a staple of his. When asked to do something he would always make sure it is done, and done on time too, and so expected that from others, especially those who would soon be his fellow squad members who he would have to rely on.

He sat in his normal pose, looking partially casual, but his eyes darting around at his fellows, trying to pick up what they were feeling, his Zanpakuto resting across his legs. His eyes shot upwards as he noticed on of the Captains performing some Kido to call the remaining students. The thirteenth Division's Captain, a great fighter in his own right, with his Zanpakuto that reminded Kokura more of a rapier by the hilt. He looked across to the stern woman he would be working under, his thin, ever-present smile curling at the corners slightly more. While he disliked her over-disciplined approach that he'd heard plenty about, he was sure he was going to enjoy the fighting side of things.

The Captain Commander spoke, and the ceremony was officially underway. Typical motivational crap... he thought to himself. He knew the Captain Commander was powerful, and probably an interesting man to speak to one on one, but he was never a fan of speeches. Kokura had grown into a habit of referring to the Captain Commander as Mumei when talking about him because no one knew his name, and because of his habit of giving almost everyone nicknames.

As Gunkisha glanced across the room Kokura noted that pretty much everyone to be under her command sat up straighter, but his own 'sitting up strait' looked more like he was just stretching his back before retaking his normal posture and simply cocking his head a little at the Captain. Truth was, Kokura disliked sitting up strait because of his scars feeling stretched down his back and across his shoulder when he did so, but often he got told off for not doing so by the teachers, not that he really cared.

The ceremony ended with more motivational-style speech, and then they were free to go about their own way. Kokura just watched people leave the area for a short while, before moving himself, his destination his new Division's area, always keeping an eye out at those headed the same way.

Saku had been one of the first to show up to the ceremony, he had heard things about how strict the CC was about timeliness. He sat there as one of the captains made one last attempt to get everyone there. As the last few people showed up the seats around him were still empty, but it was no suprise to him. Everyone took his adeptness to Kido and his kind personality and made up this arrogance he did not really even have. But it was something he had gotten use to. The ceremony began with a speech about shaping each other and what not. He looked around to see that there were a couple of his Senior class men trying to get away with not paying attention. He Listened intently, as the CC's speech came to an end with an uplifting "we are a family" ending.

As everyone began to leave, Sakusho strapped his Zanpakuto's to his back criss-crossed. He made his way towards his new home, the Kido Corps barracks. He could see a bunch of the other new graduates walking around trying to find their way to their new squads; some excited, some nervous, and others seemed scared. He was happy though this was a time for him to make some friends in the Gotei 13. As he walked up he saw what looked to be the whole of Kido Corp standing in formation out in front of the barracks. In front of them where three other students that had just graduated, and an old green-gray haired man. The captain looked at Sakusho and motioned for him to join the other three.

"First off I would like to give my personal congratulations not only on making it through your training but, for making it into the Kido Corps. We are one unit here, we are a team and a family. And I am the father, do as I say and you will remain alive and healthy. So my squad welcome your new brothers and sister to our family," The captain said, he briskly turned to another man who had a strange monocle hanging from his eye. They exchanged some words and he came forward.

"I am Toketsu, VC of the Kido Corps, Those of you who are not new are released. Those of you that are follow me to your new rooms," Said the vice captain. He led them through the barracks, the rooms were quite comfortable. He wondered if everyone's rooms were like this. As he was the last to be dropped off, the VC looked him up and down and his eye oddly twitched," Please relax tonight, tomorrow work starts."

With that said the VC walked away diligently and Saku walked into his room. It was a very respectable accommodation, there was a bed on one side and a desk on the other, and a small but comfortable chair towards the back. Saku removed his Zanpakuto's and placed them on the desk. He was not sure what tomorrow's work might be but he figured he should probably get some rest early on. so he lay down and drifted off to sleep.

Maeda had arrived on time, seated himself straight with his full attention upon the platform, and carefully laid his sheathed zanpakuto across his lap as deemed necessary. For this special occasion he had even properly closed his kosode and took extra long grooming his hair to look as neat as possible, although it ended up not looking much different than usual. Even then.. even despite all of this trouble he had gone through.. despite all of his hard work in attempt to appear normal, everyone around him still seemed frightened. Those to his sides leaned away in the opposite direction, those behind him leaned back, and those in front leaned forward. Maybe, he had thought, maybe it was just coincidental, maybe they had all managed to sleep in a bad position so their backs hurt.. in different ways. But he knew the truth, he had long since realized that he had the appearance of a delinquent. His genetically narrow eyes made it look like he was always angry or annoyed, when he wasn't. Right now he was perfectly calm and happy and excited to become a proper shinigami, yet he seemed to constantly emit an aura of despair.

    "Owah.. He's huge.."

"It's not like I chose to be tall.."

"I heard he made a female instructor cry.."

"It's a misunderstanding, I just found her lost cat!"

"Haha, yeah.. Didja hear? Just last week he beat up a bunch of innocent students."

"They started it.. besides, they were more delinquent than me!"

"I swear, I almost approached him before thinking he was just misunderstood.. I'm glad I didn't.."

    "I give up.."

Only then did the Captain Commander speak and silence the lot as well as the rest of the crowd; the immense spike of reiatsu that he emitted causing them to finally sit straight. It seemed that as terrifying as Maeda could be, the Captain Commander was much worse. He heaved a sigh of relief. As the Captain Commander proceeded with his speech Maeda listened intently, an excited smile spreading across his lips. As innocent of a smile as he thought it was, to the students around him it looked like something psychotic. Surprisingly they did their best to not run and hide, but only because they were trapped - stuck with Maeda because of the Captain Commander.

His Captain, Kongoufue Gunkisha of the Eleventh Division, seemed like an interesting person. He had heard plenty about her, both good and bad, but most of it seemed to be bad. Although he had heard most of it from students and he knew firsthand how good they were at twisting stories, and spreading rumors. She was a beautiful young woman - though much older than he - that, telling from the stern expression on her face alone, seemed like she would be as serious and strict as he had heard. But that wasn't something to frighten him, not because he was fearless but because he himself liked things to be done well and organized. That being said.. though he had such similarities to the Captain, he had a feeling they wouldn't get along very well. Maybe he sensed that was just the type of woman she was. Under just her gaze alone the students sat straighter and Maeda would have as well if only out of respect, had he not already been sitting as straight as he possibly could.

When the Captain Commander's speech was brought to a close they were given freedom to leave and meet up with their own squad. Immediately as they were given that right those around Maeda seemed to sprint for the exit and when he stood they hurried to the point of climbing over seats. Maeda sighed and slid his zanpakuto through the sash at his waist while he waited for things to clear up, before he proceeded to exit at the backside of the crowd. He approached the Eleventh Division barracks, unconsciously sorting the strong - or foolish - from the "weak" as he walked. The former drew closer to him, the latter moved further away. He had learned not to take noticed of these sorts of things by now. But, much to his pleasure, there was a shinigami in further that neither followed him nor ran away from him. A short haired male that seemed to have scars of some sort on the side of his head, but Maeda gave these no more than a glance as he slipped forward and carefully placed a hand on the male's shoulder. "Hey there." He offered a smile. "I'm Kurokemuri Maeda, of the Eleventh Division. Same as you, I think."

"Maeda, yeah, heard plenty about you." Kokura said, looking back over his shoulder at the man behind him. "Alot of people seem to be scared of you." He continued, turning to face his fellow Shinigami, who was only a touch taller than Kokura was himself and wore his uniform in a style he was familiar with from the orginised gangs from around the districts he used to live in, down to the bandages wrapped around his waist. He had spotted Maeda around the academy before, but then again, it wasn't too difficult to miss the tall guy. This was the first time Kokura had a chance to see him up close, and took the opportunity to properly size him up, taking in his stance and posture, and of course looking at his Zanpakuto. "Don't count me among them though. I'm Kokura." He finished, offering a hand to shake.

"So how much is true?" Kokura asked Maeda. "About you starting fights with groups of other students just to prove your abilities?" Kokura questioned, a smile at the corner of his lips as ever, and an inquisitive look on his face, before continuing, slightly quieter so no one could overhear. "Or is it more the other way around, them trying to pick on you because you're a big target to prove their worth with?" His smile was nicer now, more friendly. "Don't worry, I'm used to it being that way too."

“Shinigami!” The Captain-Commander finally spoke to them. His reiatsu immediately drew in Shiawasena’s attention; it’s pressure was, at least in his opinion, unmatched. It was an unholy pressure. Shia’s hands began to shake. “Welcome to your Graduation from the Shino Academy. I am proud of you all, for graduating, and completing the curriculum to the best of your abilities. Around you, you see the very people that have toiled with you, whom have sat through mandatory lessons with you, and have suffered your punishments alongside you.” The Captain-Command’s hand reached out and swept across the students. “Around you, you see your instructors! Around you, you see your caretakers. The very people whom helped develop you into the Shinigami you are now, and the very same who will help shape the Shinigami you are in the future!”

Shia immediately spotted the captains. His attention was more so focused on his assigned squad’s captain. Hien Shushin - Captain of the Seventh Squad in the Gotei 13. The man's Shikai is said to ignore the force of gravity, and his Bankai can increase its own gravitational pull. If you made an attack while his Bankai were to be activated, it'd just orbit around the weapon. It's a force that can reckon with even the Bankai of the Sixth Squad's Captain.

But Hien is said to be a jolly man. Very light hearted. Shia wasn't too concerned with being ousted by his squad. But it was still a first for him to be concerned about socializing.

The Captain-Commander finished speaking. It was time to go to his barracks. Shia scratched the back of his head, ruffling his shaggy brown hair a bit and became concerned. He knew of his Captain. The man's a good fellow. He enjoys to drink with his subordinates and, quite frankly, Shia can cook. Every good drink needs a meal to accompany it. The Shinigami made his way to his barracks.

The Captain Commander was still doing his speech, and everyone listened closely, also Matsuo. Matsuo was really excited to be a Shinigami and really wanted to go to his squad as soon as possible. Matsuo looked up on the podium and tried to spot his captain.

He eventually saw him, Takahiro Hiroshi, captain of the 9th Division. He looked like on of the oldest around here, but that didn't really matter. Matsuo loved elder people, he always had good conversations with his grandfather. He is said to be really strong and even has potential of becoming the Captain Commander. It would be nice for him but Matsuo really wanted him as captain.

After the Captain Commander finished his speech everyone was allowed to go. Matsuo stood up and went towards the barracks of the ninth division to meet up with his squad. He was really excited to meet new people and to train with them.

Contrary to how he felt mentally, his body was full of energy. Saku rolled around for a few but finally gave in to the fact that he was not completely tired enough to fall into his dream world. He got up grabbed his zanpakuto's strapping them to his back, and walked outside leaving the barracks area. He reallly was not paying much attention on where he was going, he just wanted to walk around to wear his body out. He could hear the bustle of people around him, but never once did he look up to see what was around him. A couple of little kids ran around him chasing each other, he just smiled and walked briskly on. He turned back to look at the kids and got caught up thinking about his passed. He had a brother growing up around here, but he had disappeared some years ago never to be seen again. He wondered every now and then if he was still ali-

"OOF," Saku groaned as he ran into someone," oh I am so sorry, I was not being careful of where I was walking. Are you ok?" he looked up at the man he had run into, it was another of the new shinigami's he had graduated with. He seemed to be average sized man, with silverish or white hair depending on how u look at it.

The man reacted in a surprisingly pleasant way, Maeda was glad. He took the hand that was offered to him and gave it a firm shake. "Well, that's one person not afraid of me at least. Nice to meet you, Kokura-san." He released the other man's hand and proceeded to walk at his side, they were both going in the same direction anyway. The other nearby shinigami seemed to be confused by the apparent friendly behavior going on between Kokura and Maeda. The fearful quickly fled the scene however, perhaps thinking Kokura was being chosen as Maeda's next target to be "bullied". Combined with his narrowed eyes the smile on Maeda's face seemed like something to fear, despite being composed of pure intentions. The guy, Kokura, seemed like an unlikely target though, since he too wasn't exactly.. well, all that kind looking, what with the scars and being in the Eleventh Division as well.

"Huh?" The question caught him by surprise, although he should have expected it to be brought up sooner or later. Maeda lifted a hand to the back of his head. "Ah, you see, I'm more innocent than I look. Most of the fights I've gotten in started against my will," he chuckled dryly, "I guess people only take my protests as insults." But after a while he learned it was useless to even bother, so he started giving the people what they wanted; a fight. "Winning is nice, you know. I can't seem to lose." He had thought he was only as strong as they, but for some reason he kept winning. Maybe his large size combined with their natural fear of him was more of an advantage than he had bothered to take into consideration. "Maybe you'll be a good challenge though, yeah?"
