Well, I completely agree with what you're saying. No one you date is bound to like everything you do. But they will do some things with you to make you happy, even if they don't like them, and you do the same for them. Turt and I know this and do this and our relationship is as amazing as dessert.

I'm not trying to make it sound like I'm some chick magnet either, but I have had more than a handful of relationships, and each one follows that most basic principle. Sure, there are undoubtedly a few women out there who are all about only pleasing their man and like to have their lives run by him, but I haven't met a damn one like that yet. You do what they want, then, they'll do what you want.

So, good job to Kestrel if he found one of those mindless drones that does whatever he wants all the time. No really, not even kidding, if he was lucky enough to find a woman whose soul purpose is seeing him happy then that's great, but I have not once met a woman like that in my entire life, in my own relationships or anyone else's.

One of the problems I've seen with my friends and my roommates in terms of relationships is that they move quickly, and by the 3rd month, have broken up because they don't even share similar interests, plus some more problems.

I've been together with my girlfriend over 2 years now, and honestly, we've come to many comprimises, she watch a movie with me, I'll watch a movie with her. One of the things we do together is play video games.

This. Love and attraction are two very different things. After a period of, say, three weeks to three months, the initial attraction will fade, and then you'll really see if you love someone, kids.

My grandma is kinda like that. From the age of 18 she's been married to my grandfather. I'm sure he makes her very happy but he can be such a hardass and extremely stubborn. When she married him though she quit her job and hasn't had a "job" since. But actually she does have a job. Her job is kinda to be a mother/best friend/caregiver to us all and she won't quit til the day she dies. She keeps us all happy. Everyone in the family. She is one of those women, but she's like that for a reason. She has been taught since she was small that family is the most important thing you'll ever have. So, even though it's not just him, that is her life. I rarely see her even sit down and never heard anyone say thank you to her besides my sister and I. So even though it's not just him, same thing.

Women stayed home to take care of the house and the kids, men went out to do all the "hard work" an "bring home the bacon" because society held the belief that the men should still be the sole providers of the family.

You don't have to lie, you can make it clear you don't necessarily enjoy something but doing it with them to make them happy makes them happy. That's why you do it. And making the other person happy in return for them doing the same is the base of a relationship.
