No, not at all. Dexter is a serial killer who goes and kills murderers of all kinds that escaped punishment from the legal system. He works as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami police, but he has no deal with them to be able to do his work, he does it in secrecy. He doesn't make jokes about killing people, he's not a very humorous character in general.

So whatever show you're thinking of is not Dexter.

Still, the guy has a very punchable face.

Jesus, you have awful taste in television. In order of best to worst...

Seasons 1 and 2 of Skins are awesome. Seasons 3 and 4 aren't as good, but I've heard Season 5 is fantastic. The first few seasons of Dexter were excellent. It was never my kind of show, though, so I wasn't particularly upset to hear that after Season 4 it went dramatically downhill. Walking Dead is the definition of great potential with lackluster execution. Every character sucks except for Shane, and look where being interesting got him. Supernatural is camp. I can't take anyone who watches it seriously.

Buffy is supposed to be good, and it's Joss Whedon, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt despite the fact that it's about vampires. I've never seen the Mentalist.

But seriously, where's Breaking Bad or Mad Men or Firefly?

I watch a bunch of relatively unheard of American series which aren't half bad.

Couple of other things you could watch

-Burn Notice
-Sons of Anarchy
-Castle (Ok, this one isn't unheard of, but its pretty good and it has the guy from Firefly as the main character, as a plus)
-JUSTIFIED -Raylan Givens in the best name to say, ever-

That's about it. Most of them are pretty heavy, Castle is light hearted and Burn notice is a bit of both.

Most Americans I know are totally ignorant of British TV series. They seem to think BBC consists of just news broadcasts.

On that note, let's list some good British TV series I've watched:

I'm suprised at Castle and Justified not having the same noriety, the ones you mentioned are the ones without the big actors.

Burn notice is brilliant, if a little dodgy for teaching thieves etc ;d
