Epic Air Voyage (Private)

The airship flies just below clouds, and the view is amazing.

A speck of brown surrounded by endless ocean is all they could see of their home. A crew of six on the first airship ever built, with one mission: to explore beyond the waters and seek other civilization.

"Well crew, there's no turning back now," a stern man said. "You must each focus on your individual duties and also work together as a solid team!"

"Yes captain!" the crew answered in unison, but one voice sounded quite squeaky.

"What's wrong?" asked the captain, "are you scared!?"

A nervous man flinched as he answered. "Y..ye..yes, I mean no! but it's just," he paused and looked at the others, "I heard that the final test flight on this airship had a few.. problems. I'm just worried about what they might be..."

An old man holding a cane stepped forward. "Fret not my boy. We do have some unresolved problems from our last test. But they were minor! Teensy!" the old man exclaimed. "Small things like umm, did anyone use the toilet yet?"

"Ugh that's disgusting!" a well dressed woman shows her disgust. Beside her, a muscular man smiled at her suggestively. "Don't worry your pretty head there miss, I'll fix it. Just for you."

The last person yet to speak bursts into laughter. "Yeah, you do that. We need someone to do dirty work around here!"

The professor seems rather occupied while the rest start to squabble. The captain was just about put them all in line when they professor abruptly shouted,

"LAND!!!"

The crew burst into laughter and shouts after finding land so quickly. It was a large body of land, but was covered in green forest and mountains. The nervous crew member gulped before turning to the captain, who was smiling silently at the excited crew. "Is it, um... safe to land there?"

"We'll never know unless we land..." The captain said while smiling and heading towards the control. He shouted out his final orders before going down fast, which caused most of the crew to stumble. "Hold on to something!"

"An earlier warning next time captain!" The female had yelled while pulling herself up and grabbing onto some railing. "Agreed" Groaned the professor while moving his hands around until he had found his glasses.

"Oi, I third them all" The old man stated while pulling himself up and steadying his balance with his cane. By then, they weren't much farther away from the land. The muscular male had stopped himself from stubling down by grabbing on to a rail, which was now bent beyond repair. "Oops..." He said quietly before they landed.

They all stepped off, except for the professor and nervous fellow who volunteered to watch the ship.

The landed, luckily, on a clearing inside a light forest.

"Here we are!" the captain said boldly, "we are pioneers in a new era of colonization!" The group radiated a heroic aura about them. "Let's settle into our individual duties."

"This place is HUGE!" the muscular man exclaimed. "Well, ready to scout?" he said to the other male. "Thats my job!" the man answered. "Just get your pistol loaded in case we meet.. something." The soldier and the scout headed out to explore the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, the female was busy collecting samples of leaves and flowers. She said excitedly to herself, "sooo many unknown species! I have to get these back to the lab!"

The captain sat down on a nearby rock, and began writing into his travel journal. Little did he know, something was watching him from behind the trees...

The creature made a very low growling noise while watching the newcomers that had very recently arrived. The low growling sound turned into a gurgle as the female looked through the brush, looking for different species of plants. The creature had it's jaw opened and shapr claws ready before a shout could be heard.

"Hey, we found something!" The muscular man yelled from the bushes loudly enough for anyone on the island to hear. The captain looked up from his journal and the female turned around quickly, unaware that she had almost been food to a new creature.

The old man got up from a log he had been sitting on and walked towards the noise, as did the others. The proffesor looked out momentarily before turning back to his logs that were on the ship.

The group surrounded around something that was located on the ground. The old man rubbed his hand down his beard as the captain pulled ofhis hat to scratch the top of his head. The muscular man got up and said boldly while puffing his chest out. "I believe we are not the first ones here"

"I guess so..." Everyone had said before standing up to talk about what they had just found. It was an inhuman footprint that appeared to have three claws and a heel much larger than anyones there. Everyone turned to the sound of a low growl that sounded close, but out of sight.

"What the hell was that!?" the soldier points his pistol in the direction of the growling noise. Behind the bushes, reptile-like eyes stare upon the crew, and let out a deafening growl! It was like a lion's roar, only distorted and with a certain sense of hostility.

The soldier fired in frenzy at the creature, but the creature growled even louder. "Everybody get back to the ship!" the captain ordered in panic. Without hesitation the crew ran as fast as they could. Arriving at the clearing where they landed, the crew gathered themselves. "Looks like we're safe for now," the captain assured them.

"But wait, where's the scientist?" They all looked at each other and realizes that she was not with them. In fact, she tripped on a root and fell behind as they were running away from that... monster.

"We.. we have to go back.. right?" the scout asked shakily. The soldier nods in disbelief. "But we're gonna need bigger guns."

The men returned to the airship, and was greeted by the professor and his grandson. They told him about the encounter, and the grandson is absolutely terrified.

"Grandpa! Let's go home!" the boy begged without effect. The professor was determined to rescue the scientist, and everyone agreed. And so the captain opened the weapons locker, and handed each one a weapon.

Slowly the scientist rose up while coughing and swiping the dirt away with her hands. She looked around to find any of the crew, but she was all by herself somewhere on the island. "Damn crewmembers..."

Only three of them had left while the others stayed to make sure the creatures didn't damage any important parts or supplies on the ship. The soldier, scout and captain waled through the brush quietly, attempting to track down the girl. The turned quickly to the sound of a low growl behind them.

The woman stopped wiping the dirt off of herself after she heard a gunshot not far from her location. She swore under her breath as she began to walk. She had turned around to see another ones of the monsters behind her. She began to run quickly towards where she heard the gunshots.

"Bastard can't take us on!" The soldier said while kicking the now dead reptile into a bush. The then all aimed there guns towards the sound of running, but quickl stopped as the scientist ran by the yelling. "Don't shoot, run!"

Suddenly they had been stopped. Two had appeared in front of them from the brush and the one that had chased them caught up and was quickly greeted by two more. "Five to four, I think we're outnumbered..."

The monsters circle the frightened crew. They edge closer, growling and drooling. The crew is frozen in sheer panic when suddenly, a strong gust of wind breaks the air from above. It was the airship.

"GRAB ON!" a voice was heard through a loudspeaker from the airship. It was the professor. A hatch opens and lowers a rope ladder right above the surrounded crew.
The monsters are bewildered by the turbulence and sight of the airship. The crew rushes to climb the rope ladder and are all carried away safely...

The airship flew away from the monster-infested island. Inside, the crew recollects the past events.

"That was... AMAZING!" the soldier exclaimed, "I've never had so much adrenaline rush through me!" The others did not agree as much. "We really need to be more careful next time" the scout said. The female scientist snapped in anger "NO SHIT! I ALMOST DIED!"

The captain stepped in to calm everyone. "Alright, everyone calm down. We all knew this journey was perilous. But we have succeeded in discovering other life forms. We should be proud of our work, also to the fact that no one was injured."

The crew nodded wearily. They gathered the samples found on that island. Strange plants, and a piece of the monster's tail which the soldier sliced off when he killed one. Then they all decided to call it a day as the captain steered the ship off into another direction. Who knows what other adventure awaits them tommorow?
