    Imperial Spark OOC

    Imperial Spark

    World Map

    The massive planet of Asgaria is a planet of total war. For millions of years, every nation on the planet has been bathing in blood. The planet is in its dark ages. Plague, murder, and war are sometimes the least of what bothers the planet’s many peoples and species. Dark magic runs rampant and crusades against demon strongholds are just another aspect of life. There is no hope for improvement; no technological growth, political stability, or economic prosperity. The best a resident of Asgaria can hope for is either a quick death or an eventless life among the massive flesh grinding wars of the planet.

    The world changed, for better or for worse, when a relatively small northern republic called Asgariath peacefully seceded from its mother nation, Acias. Asgariath was like a phoenix emerging from hellfire. It was the only prosperous nation amongst a world of violence, in which blood money and pillaging were the only economy. Asgariath’s impact on the world was not immediately enormous. Asgariath was a nation created by Acias’s nobles to separate themselves from Acias’s rabble. While its secession was peaceful, the aftereffects were not. Asgariath spent less than a thousand years peacefully separated from Acias. Eventually, economic prosperity led to corruption and finally an overthrow of the Asgariathan Republic. Now known as the Kingdom of Asgariath, it violently expanded south into Acias, conquering for the Asgariathan crown. Acias was a powerful nation- the most powerful in its heyday… but the surprise lightning war of Asgariath hit Acias hard in the undefended and vulnerable north. Asgariath was able to annex much of Acias’s northern coastline within several hundred years of war. Then the flesh grinder began to grind.

    Acias’s armies were professional legions. Legions were a rarity in a world where most soldiers could hardly afford helmets. Asgariath knew it was up against the best. But Asgariath’s commanders were no fools. Over the years, Asgariath’s armies gained experience and a fierce military tradition developed. In battles against Acias in the early 1st Asgariathan war, Asgariath observed that heavy cavalry could hack through legions, sometimes even with ease. Military tradition and heavy cavalry soon became one and Asgariath was the first nation to develop the idea of a knight- a professional elite soldier trained from birth to fight in heavy armor, usually on a horse. In that sense, Asgariath became the first medieval nation. However, Asgariath kept the legions as the backbone of the army. Well equipped and trained, Asgariath’s heavy legionnaires became the most feared soldiers in the world. It was said that one properly equipped and trained man was a match for any Asgariathan legionnaire. But it was said that 10 such men were a match for only 5 Asgariathans. Furthermore, 1,000 such men were equal 100 Asgariathans. 100,000 such men were equal to a single Asgariathan legion.

    Some thousands of years later and Acias’s armies were struggling to stall the Asgariathan advance. Asgariath’s battering ram had picked up momentum and could not be stopped. The predator had tasted blood, and found it to his liking. Ten thousand years more and now Acias is Asgariath’s backyard. The once proud empire is now in slavery to the little kingdom from the north. Asgariath was now truly a mighty empire. But Asgariath struggled to recruit enough soldiers to continue its lightning advance. Acias was massive- it spanned more than half of the entire northern hemisphere of Asgaria. This new land had to be improved and civilized, to prevent rebellion and to provide, rather than drain, money to Asgariath.

    The Red Empire’s delay was not infinite. Soon, millions of Asgariathans marched to war once more. The assimilation of Acias into Asgariath’s army as auxiliary troops strengthened Asgariath’s armies once more. Like an unstoppable fire, Asgariath spread over the land, destroying all that stood in its path. Village after village, town after town, city after city, nation after nation all fell to Asgariath.

    Nations that once seemed like great empires were now sidelined by Asgariath- the empire of wealth, of glory, of strength…. Of destruction. Nothing- no nation and even no coalition could counter the might of Asgariath. World domination was only a matter of time. That matter was finally to be settled 20 years ago. Asgariath marched on the last free stronghold in the world- the Acias rebel fortress of Mashar, a great center of military force and economic prosperity. The city managed to withstand several months of determined and relentless assaults. There was not a street not covered in blood. Seven times, Asgariath’s legions breached the defenses and surged into the city, and six times they were beaten back. On the seventh assault, Acias was finally defeated. Any survivors of the original defenders that were left pulled back into the central keep. Victory was never doubted for Asgariath.

    But Asgariath’s catapults never brought down the keep, the battering rams never destroyed the gates, and the legionnaires never killed the last of Asgariath’s enemies. The last stronghold of the free world was left standing among a ruined land. Asgariath was gone. Not a single Asgariathan could be seen… anywhere. The great siege machines of Asgariath stood where they were left. The epic cities, once populated by millions, were completely devoid of any Asgariathans. Confused but infinitely glad, the slaves and servants of Asgariath took over.

    Political instability instantly emerged as the dominant government system. For some years, the world was governed by civil war. Acias, quick to spread its influence, soon once more took its pre Asgariath position as a superpower. The other nations were not so keen on letting Acias conquer them. Acias was quickly losing its international influence. Trying to regain its former lands, Acias made the mistake of declaring war on the United City States of Galica. At the Battle of The Galican Confluence, the Galican phalanx army managed to inflict a devastating defeat on Acias’s legions. After a minor nation defeated the super power in pitched combat, Acias further lost status in the world. Many nations turned a predator’s eye to Acias, eager to take a slice of land for themselves.

    The political Acias machine, probably the most twisted and powerful in the world, acted immediately to remove the threat. Acias declared at an international council that for fairness, the nations should become divided as they were before the 1st Asgariathan war. This probably caused more conflicts than it solved and prolonged the world wide civil wars for another 5 years. Galica and Tavron had become completely separate nations, but their situation as former lands of Acias meant it was legal for Acias to take them back. Galica put up a stout defense while Tavron collapsed into civil war as the pro-Acias lower class revolted and overthrew the pro-Asgariath upper and middle classes. The bloodshed in Galica and Tavron would not end. Campaigns in Galica and civil war in Tavron would continue for many years.

    Many old enemies of not only Asgariath, but all Asgarans (humans) on the planet, have emerged from darkness. Asgariath’s armies were once able to keep evil at bay, but their disappearance has created the opportunity for evil to come forth once more. Already, just 20 years after Asgariath, the undead, demons, dark elves, dark dwarves, barbarians, and orcs are all pushing into the kingdoms of men.

    It is in this war ridden world that the RP begins in. The meatgrinder is grinding, and nobody will be spared from the crucible of war.

    Acias is currently the only major superpower, although nations such as Sentum are not far behind. Acias is trying to expand against Galica and stabilize Tavron so most of Acias’s legions are in the deep southwest. But there is a grave problem. Acias, a nation which relies on freed slaves for manpower, has no officers. Its armies are disorganized and have difficulty coordinating attacks. To counter act this void in the leadership element of its legions, Acias has established the Western War Academy, also known as the Acias Battle Academy or the Western Officer University. This academy is located in the small city of Ancor, in a narrow desert cliff pass in the northwest of Acias. Ancor doubles in function to act as a base of operations and stronghold in the situation of war with Sentum. Although the town itself is not fortified, the extremely elite soldiers and mages produced are able to slaughter lesser soldiers, especially in narrow passes where the enemy cannot bring their numbers to bear. A mountain road heads into the northwest of Acias and into the northwest steppe. To the west of that are the orc lands, and the only way from them into Acias is the mountain road. However, there are only a couple of legions stationed in the north because the orc armies are seen to be pathetic and uncoordinated. On some occasions, hundreds of thousands of orcs starved or froze before even finding the mountain strongholds of Acias.

    The disappearance of Asgariath has not yet been addressed by any nation or man. The world has been ignoring their feat- what if Asgariath is only temporarily gone? What then? To where is it gone anyways? Why? Revelations must eventually come to light- nothing can dwell in twilight forever.

    The Laws of the Land
    (of the roleplay, anyways…)

    1) Respect the players and the roleplay. This rule pertains to the roleplay and people in it, especially in the OOC. I have seen roleplays crippled or even outright obliterated by fights in the OOC. Sometimes one or more players leave and some others lose faith in the roleplay and stop posting. No fights in the OOC. Ever. If you have a dispute with another player, settle it via pm. If it cannot be settled by yourselves, then pm me.

    2) No god-moding or meta-gaming. God moding is dictating the actions of other people’s characters or character NPCs. This includes things like auto-hits. Meta-gaming is giving your character knowledge of something that is going on IC based on knowledge you obtained OOC. If I state in the OOC that there is a million year old archdevil in the catacombs, your character should remain unaware.

    3) Stay within bounds of the roleplay’s reality. This includes everything from the basic laws of physics to rare magic. This means that your character cannot fly across 30 foot chasms or run over people’s heads. This also means that your character cannot shoot lightning bolts at every peasant he or she encounters. See the ‘magic’ section for a list of spells and rules governing their use.

    4) Stay within the roleplay’s universe. I don’t want to see made up history about your character secretly being the heir of the Acias throne. Most people at Ancor are nobles or at least middle class, but they are in no way royalty. They may become royalty if they survive throughout the RP, but they are not from the get-go.

    5) Stay dedicated to the roleplay. I expect at least one post every 2 days. One post a day is preferable. This roleplay is in casual and I do not require great, long, posts. However, the roleplay needs to keep moving and I do require frequent posts.

    6) Don’t piss off the GM or co-GM. You will be sorry you did.

    The Character Sheet
    It’s really quite explanatory. The blank CS shows how to structure the CS. See my CS if you’re having trouble understanding what the blank CS means.
    For best aesthetic effect, center the entire CS when you post.

    So....If I was a necromancer before...Is this an improvement?
    My challenge to myself from now on. I will accompany every IC post with a picture I draw, regardless of how bad it is. I may not be able to put one up if the potato I call my broadband acts up however.

    Minerva Di Vanz

    ::Age, Race, Sex::
    17 Years old
    Human
    Female

    ::Title and Position::
    Apprentice Shadow Mage

    ::Physical Description of the Character::
    She is lean, a bit on the pale side, and relatively fit for a mage. She is about average height and can easily be mistaken for a boy because of her looks.

    ::Mental and Emotional Description of the Character::
    She is very pessimistic, but is unwilling to give up something unless she deems it wiser to retreat. She will rarely respond to other people, nor will she talk unless she needed something. She does not believe in other people or in good, as nothing is above betraying her. Minerva believes only in death.

    She fears people amongst all else, especially men.

    ::Weapons (List)::
    An old two hander, tarnished in places, but well maintained and still sharp

    ::Equipment (List)::
    A plate armor

    ::Miscellaneous Belongings (List)::
    An old bag with a few essentials. An old device that conjures a small spark of flames when used.

    ::Background::

    Minerva murdered her family when she was just a child, as well as setting fire to the whole village in the night, ensuring no one escapes. There was no one she trusts in the village, as none would help her before. She despised her family, every single one of them, except for her parents, who had died a few years back. Her brothers, who she had trusted before, suddenly changed one day, why or how she did not know, but they changed.

    She was raped, and prostituted out to strangers. She lived that way for a few years, fearing her brothers, but she snapped one day, and the rest is history.

    After she burned down the whole village, she had no where to go, and no idea what to do. Feeling suicidal and strangely relieved, she set out towards a nearby hill, wondering if there was a cliff she can jump off there. Instead she met an old mage, who sought the peace and quiet of solitude, not for his experiments, but for reading the latest books from the renown writer, King from Stephen. The old mage sensed something was wrong and managed to take her in (after capturing her to prevent her running away).

    Minerva grew to trust the old man, and the old man grew fond of her. The years passed as the old man took care of her, teaching her little bits of magic here and there. She was enamored with one of his books about the Lone Warrior, and with swordfighting, so the old man found an old twohander he kept somewhere and several old plate armor pieces, polished them up a bit and gave them to her. After a while he passed away, leaving her with all his belongings. She had no desire to stay here with the painful memories of the old man, about the only one she had truly trusted, and set out to wander.

    - FULL NAME - AGE - RACE - SEX -

    24 Human Male

    - TITLE AND POSITION -
    Mercenary; Warrior - Archer/Pathfinder

    - PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTER -
    Arnlaugr stands 6 ft tall. Many people lost to Arn because they wrongly evaluated how strong Arn is. You will not see clear muscle lines on his body or any other visual indicators that would show his true strength. He looks plump and slow. But true is that harsh life and many fights made his body strong, sturdy and his reflexes sharp as butchers knife.

    His black hair is medium long and usually unkempt, face is covered with thick beard that has few braids in it. Arn eyes are deep blue. Because of all hair his eyes look like two last bright coals in pile of ash. Also his voice always stands out in crowd. He has low bass voice and he loves and know how to use it. One of his favorite things are to sing in taverns and gain that extra coin that he always lacks of.

    Arn's upper body is covered with tattoos of animals and strange symbols. He doesn't know what they mean only thing that he knows for sure that he had these tattoos from the days he can remember himself.

    - MENTAL AND EMITIONAL DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTER -
    Arnlaugr is laid back and careless person. He lives every day as it would be his last one. Most of his free time he spends in city taverns or market place. He never regrets his actions or words. Many people do not like him because he is straightforward and sometimes even rude. If he will not like anything he will tell you that in your face and if needed Arn can always back up his words with his fists. Although many people see him as some kind of idiot or even madman his true friends know that Arn is one of the few people that you can count on, he will never backstab you...

    - WEAPONS -

    Over his armor he wears simple hooded cotton shirt that hides his armor.

    In city and times of peace he wears simple hooded peasants cotton shirt, leather pants and boots he covers his hear with simple straw hat. For self defense in city he has his fists and hidden knife in his boot.

    - MISCELLANEOUS BELONGINGS -
    On his free time he carries on small bag with spare coins, lute (yes he knows how to use it).
    When going on mission he always takes shoulder bag with few things to maintain his weapons and armor at their best, food and few mixtures that he buys at local herbalist to treat wounds, stomach aches etc. Also he never leaves without a leather bag with mead in it and his trusted lute and pipe.

    - BACKGROUND -
    Arn is one of the many orphans that endless war produced over many years. He never knew from where he comes or who his parents were and tell the true he never care about that. He learned early that there is no point to look back or regret actions he did in the past.

    Arn left orphanage when he was only 7 years old. From the first day he started to learn that life is harsh and you need to fight for your right to exist in this world. Arn was working in taverns, farms, he even traveled with small circus where he learned to play lute. At age of 13 his life as mercenary started. He was recruited as "do that" boy for small band of mercenaries. For 7 years this band was his family. He was living, traveling and participating in battles with them. They taught him everything that they knew about fighting, treating wounds. They taught him how to survive in heat of battle.

    Arn was traveling with them until his 20 birthday. Then he was seriously wounded in battle with bandits. His comrades left him in local farm to treat his wounds. Arn was living in this farm until recently. One of the farm workers told him that 8th Shock Legion in Ancor is recruiting people to march north to confront orcs.

    Spoiler

    Voraire Antonin Syrexias
    20, Asgaran Human, Male
    Mage, Runemage of Tavron
    Veteran of the Mage Guild, Runic Sector

    Physical Features
    Voraire stands at 5'6, although most of his body is covered in a ragged hooded robe, he is revealed to be quite thin and has a fit structure. His right arm is always covered with a black Runeglove with 3 rune sockets located in a line. Voraire is always seen wearing rubber sandals where his scar covered feet are seen. Even though he wears a hood most of the time, there were times when he took this off which revealed that he has a spiky blonde hair which is quite short. His eyes are of the green color with his skin a pale white shade. Although he wears a ragged robe, beneath that robe is a mithril vest with a medium sized leather bag that he carries on his waist.

    Mental and Emotional Attributes
    Voraire is a happy go lucky mage who is always willing to help other people yet he knows his limits. Due to his obsession with obtaining and crafting more runes, he is sometimes seen daydreaming of runes and stuff which can give an impression that he's quite dumb. Voraire has a mental attribute of being a pacifist. He always seeks diplomacy first before attacking and when he does decide to strike, he always says this line "Forgive me, for I have sinned." Although not really concerned with the brewing war, Voraire can hesitatingly cooperate with soldiers when his services are needed. Due to a horrific past that concerned the death of his family, Voraire has a tendency to quietly loathe and despise soldiers or anyone who is a soldier.

    Weapons

    Runeglove
    Spoiler

    Runes are the main weapons of the Runemages. The drawback in the runes so far created is that it provides the full power but shatters after 10 minutes of use. While this drawback is still being tried to fix, this is still a major disadvantage to Runemages.
    Spoiler

Although quite simple, this robe is enchanted with Runemagic that it is bound with the rune in the Runeglove. What ever rune the Runeglove is using is also transferred with the robe. For example, the rune is Pyros. The robe has a fire element that gives the user protection from fire based spells for the duration.

    Mors Domine mithril armor- This armored vest is enchanted with runic magic. The vest is also bound with the Runeglove. This is a sturdy vest that can withstand a multitude of punishment. This is often worn beneath the robe to prevent people from seeing the Runicmages to be warriors for battle.

    Santis Simina Plated Pants- This armored lower wear is worn beneath the robe. This is also bound to the Runicglove. Although durable, this armor is still very light allowing fast movement and as well as increased defense.

    ->An extra robe
    ->Loaf of bread and teapot with the tea itself

    Background
    Voraire was born of a family of peasants. However, it was discovered that his parents weren't merely peasants but Runic Mages. They were able to teach Voraire the art of a Runemage until he was 16. By that age, they send Voraire to a guild of mages in order for him to learn more. Voraire succeeded quite greatly in the field and made his parents proud when a certain day came that took away his trust for the soldiers.

    Voraire was granted a request to take a day off from the guild in order to bond with his family. Thoughts of happiness streamed through his mind as he smiled all the way when suddenly this smile was shattered. He saw his house burning. His heart raced as he ran towards his hosue only to find his parents dead and a group of soldiers preparing to leave. In a fit of rage, Voraire engaged them in combat but was easily overpowered. He wasn't captured as he quickly got away. However, to this day, his vengeance is still on as he continues to hunt those who have murdered his kin.

    Now living in a small shack at the lower parts of town, Voraire now gains a living by selling various items as well as his runes. His everyday quest still going on as his cold smile still envelopes his face. Truly, during the hunt... nothing matters more than the KILL.

    Physical Description of the Character
    Darwin is rather short male, standing at 5'2 He is skinny small, and very silent. He is not very strong but he has enough strength for continued use of his bow.
    Mental and Emotional Description of the Character
    Darwin is stable mentally and emotionally. He tries to be fun, but can come off as annoying, he knows when to get serious though. He likes animals but he enjoys hunting them more, this does not make him an evil sadistic, quite the opposite. HE hunts to keep his family, or whoever needs it, fed and happy. He as well keeps a vial of blood of every animal he has killed, he believes they live on through their blood. HE is just an all around great friend who would give you the shirt off his back.

    Weapons:
    A longbow ( strapped on his back. )
    A short bow ( A backup bow as well strapped to his back, under the long one)
    Two daggers
    A small sword, in between a regular length and a dagger stage.
    He is very stealthy and prefers to stay in the shadows.
    A quiver of arrows.

    Miscellaneous Belongings (List)
    A side bag with animal blood in vials. ( Just deer and boar at this point. )
    Light armor, made of leather to help his quiet tendencies on the battlefield.
    Bread.

    Background:
    Darwin was always out playing with his bow, even when he was little, He loved to shoot the wood pieces that his dad built for him. He would sometimes be out there from day to night, practicing his shooting. He always aspired to be the greatest archer in the world. He got a sharp hit in the reality bone when he woke up and his parents talked to him about his archery. They were getting older and he needed to hunt for them.

    Not going to disobey he went out and shot a deer and boar, his father, who came along to help, always told him to keep a vial of it's blood to let the der live along with you. He took some blood and handed it to Darwin as well as some empty vials. He taught Darwin to skin the deer and his mother taught him to cook the animal. He loved it, but learned that that guilt hits like a rock.

    One day while hunting he didn't take a vial of blood, when he had gotten back to get a vial the wolves were tearing it to pieces, it would never live again. Darwin was miserable and vowed never to make a rookie mistake or senseless kill again.

    He travelled a long journey to Ancor to join this warring school he's heard about and now resides there.

    Yes, at Ancor. When the academy is closed (at night), students reside in the lower city. Currently the somewhat depleted 8th shock legion is recruiting from the lower city for their crusade against the orcs.
