The suspension of disbelief in this one is palpable Then is turns out it wasn't a re-enactment
So apparently America's Most Wanted is on Lifetime, which is the best channel for things about rape and murder and crime I guess.
Anyhow, the episode immediately starts out with pedophilia. This old dude meets the neighbors moving in and gets a boner from the prepubescent girl sitting in the car. One day he just decides "Fuck it" and rapes her.
After he's done, the chick goes to her mom's room wrapped in a towel (she didn't shower or anything, she was wearing clothes before hand, I guess towels are hip), taps her mom on the shoulder, and states with the most blank expression and generic voice ever "Mom. I've been raped."
I can't believe I laughed at the phrase "Mom. I've been raped."
YOU COULD AT LEAST LOOK SAD, RE-ENACTMENT ACTRESS.
No, Smiral, you're missing it. She was a very good actress and was trying to give some deeper personality to the character.
See, she may have been an innocent child, but she had heard about sex before and was curious about it so she looked it up on the internet. She found out what it was and had been wondering what it was like for a while. Then, one day, the nice neighbor guy came over and raped her. On the one hand rape is bad and it shouldn't have happened, but on the other hand the girl had been wanting to know what it was like. So she's conflicted. She's trying to decide whether she should be upset about the rape or pleased with the new discovery that she's been yearning after for so long. That's why she's so flat and emotionless, she's still processing and maybe a little in shock.
I can't believe I managed that without saying she liked it.
Fucking kids these days, can't appreciate a true thespian's art.
