    Kingdoms of Twilight OOC

(In an Alternate time and Reality)

Two glorious Kingdoms, Hallavera and Terradwer, have been at war, spilling each others blood simply because that is the way it has been for years. Countless lives have been lost in a war that has no recorded beginning: people no longer remember just how, when or why this all-consuming feud started. Hundreds of thousands have fought and died in the name of conquest, and the Kingdoms fought on, constantly innovating and expanding. With no other major nations to oppose their rules, these Kingdoms grew and found opposition only in each other; perhaps it was only natural that they seek to overcome their sole competition in this world.

In a world where Gods used to walk among men, the remnants of their presence can be seen long after they have disappeared: some of the citizens of these societies have magic symbols on their bodies since birth, known as Oaths, granting them unique powers depending on the Oaths they were blessed with. A gift from the gods, the strength of an individual’s Oath is unique to each person, and they enable feats of unimaginable magic and might. These empowered warriors cross blades on the battlefield, flying the banners of their country and perpetuating the bloodshed.

Hallavera, a monarchy led by a Royal Family whose bloodline has produced some of the finest Trave warriors seen on the planet, is reminiscent of a medieval community, possessing no major technological marvels or inventions. Because of this, they maintain a beauty mostly unscarred by man, with much of Nature’s bounty untouched. The palaces within the main city, named after the Kingdom itself, are gorgeous works of art and are remnants of times of Old, when the Gods had not abandoned the world. Terradwer, on the other hand, is an oligarchy run by a council called the Speakers. Despite the Speakers all being various types of Oathbearers, Terradwer is primarily a Mel mage dominated society thanks to the influence of the Citadel, a theological organization who researches, develops, and instructs in magic’s various forms. Magic permeates their buildings and lands, providing some very unique and functional structures and appliances. The nation’s main city, Terradwer, is a wonder to behold. Tall structures, glowing with unnatural light abound throughout the sprawling city.

With no end in sight to the conflict, and as an act of desperation, a Terradwerian attempted a long forgotten summoning ritual, meant to call forth Heroes destined to cease the violence. A long-kept secret, this spell was kept hidden in an attempt to prevent the coming of these extraordinarily empowered Oathbearers, colloquially referred to as the Reavers: regarded with as much fear as reverence, it was said that their arrival would signify the end of an Era, and their might could rend mountains and split the sky. Sickened by the wasted lives, and the hundreds of years of relentless warring, Amical the High Priest sought peace, no matter the cost. The Priest, interrupted by Hallaveran Soldiers who desired to stop the infamous ritual, with his dying breath completed the summons; but something went awry. The Six Heroes summoned are separated, and instead of being sent to the temple where Amical’s body lay atop the Summoning Rune, 3 were sent to Hallavera, and 3 were sent to Terradwer. In a world not their own, the children who were torn from their mundane lives are thrust into a massive war. In a fight for a cause that none of them believe in, or even fully understand, they are forced to forge their own destinies.

It is the end of days; the Reavers have come.

    This is their story.

-Similarly, romance WILL happen, that's probably inevitable. I don't mind it, it's all natural human stuff, but just keep it semi-clean guys. No porn on the thread, please?

    Character Name: Kellan Grigori

    Age: 17 (Junior Year)

    Allegiance: Hallavera

    Desired Oath: Devil

Weapon: Slim blade that materializes from the shadows that exude from his pulsating Oath. Materialization and disappearance are controlled by the user.

Personality Traits: In school, he was fun and outgoing; hiding a deeper guilt. Kellan was a fan of improvisational comedy, even joining the school troupe his first two years of high school, but soon, varsity basketball took over his life and he let that part of his life fall to the backburner. He’s always been friendly, but like any other kid, he always sought the approval of others, and as such, slowly stopped hanging out with the same old circles he used to. Following the Summoning, the Devil Oath has caused a shift in his personality; the constant pain it causes makes him irritable and constantly angry, even though he tries to hide it. He is not a quiet guy, and won’t back down from a challenge. Some may think of him as short or terse at times, but he is very close to the people he cares about, willing to die for any of his closest friends. A natural competitor and athlete, he’s always loved sports, which has served to really spark up a desire to outperform.

Character History: Kellan was the starting pointguard on his high school’s basketball team his Junior year, and was overall just another normal kid back in school. He was a hard worker, and everyone would say that he had a bright future ahead of him. He was quick to smile, quick to joke, and the other kids always had nothing but nice things to say about him. He worked hard to get to where he was, and he earned the respect of both his peers and his coaches. However, despite the successes he found in life, he was plagued by a darker side. An alcoholic father, who slowly drank himself deeper and deeper into despair, raised him and his younger brother Galen following the death of their mother during childbirth. Kellan would try to avoid his father when he could, but his brother would always get the brunt of the abuse despite Kellan’s efforts to keep Galen protected. A year ago, when Kellan was 16, his father who had passed out from drinking too much, was unable to notice Galen having an extremely severe asthma attack upstairs. Galen, unable to breath, passed away that night, leaving Kellan to return home to find his younger brother’s frail body lying in bed, dead. A deeply traumatic event, Kellan forever holds himself accountable, carrying a deep sense of guilt as well as smoldering anger at the cruelty of a world who would take such innocence. Following the acquisition of the Devil Oath, Kellan found himself tortured by his inner demons, with the voices inside his head tormenting him about his deepest, darkest insecurities and fears, feeding his hatred and his anguish.

    Character Name: Laroum Adenia

    Age: 18: Senior Year

    Allegiance: Terradwer

    Desired Oath: ANGEL

Weapon: He doesn't have a 'specific' weapon yet, but has a fondness for Scythes, Flexible Weapons, and Ranged Attacks, then of course there's magic or possibly summoned weapons.

There is a weapon that he has [And i have it too IRL, i love it XD], It's a Katan that is a little over 3 feet in total length, one of the few 'real' non collector Items he owns, and one he always carries around with him on his midnight walks. It has a black black, a Swastika hand-guard [forgot the official name for that sword part, tang?], A long Handle that is textured as red scales wrapped tightly in black grip cloth, and a dragon design on it's pommel. By 'real' I mean it is an actual expensive forged sword made for fighting instead of for show, and has an odd sort of important to him.

NOTES: [I know there are a number of previous names for the symbol called 'swastika', But i don't know any of em DX I'd love for someone to tell me what they are XD but i do know it's original purpose was a symbol of peace, before the nazi's got ahold of it.]

[I know some anime fans might notice a connection, and i'll say now, NO, this is not a zangetsu fan sword XD I'm pretty sure there have been black swords with peace symbols on them since long before ichigo got his hands on one XD]

Personality Traits: You could say he's one of 'those oddballs', The secluded gamer that does very well keeping to himself and doesn't spark up trouble with anyone. That doesn't mean he 'wants' to be alone, He interacts quite effectively with people when he's pushed into doing so, though With being thrown into a new world chances are there's no room for keeping to himself anymore. Of course even then, he'll likely be far more excited by this drastic change rather than freaking out, having always been an imaginative fantasizing type he'll probably take this better than some people.

Those details aside, he has a distinct lack of patience for unnecisary disrespect, though often can keep a handle on himself in a situation where reacting to such would cause considerable problems. He also has his own unique out-look on life, philosophies, beliefs, and so on, and has a firm belief in the 'possibility' of all things, but not in the existence of all things.

Oh, one other thing, When he really wants to avoid a conflict he breaks out 'the look', An expression that shows such complete lack of emotion towards someone's threats that it Instills fear in almost anyone who doesn't genuinely want to cause him harm. He tends to use such 'mental' based things to his advantage, this includes reputations or psychological warfare.

I actually feel this is kindof lacking Xd but I do much better making it show IC =3

Character History: Laroum has always been a bit of a 'closet case' when it came to getting out and interacting with people, Though when he was younger he would get out to hang out with friends more often, as he progressed through school he started to develop a disinterest in dealing with random strangers, not that he couldn't handle it when he needed to, but he never was one to seek out social interaction and tended to only leave for school or when he was invited, unless something else convinced him to do so. He does however have a fascination with all manner of other things, from technology and space, to Nature and Wild-life, and has a habit of wandering off at night to hang around in nature and observe/learn, Though he always took some sort of weapon with him, being an avid collector of various 'sharp toys' he had no shortage of swords to play with. Despite being a Gamer his body seemed naturally predisposed to keeping himself healthy, long as he didn't binge on things, And Tended to lead to excelling at what few physical pursuits he actually participated in.

This aside, the main reason he lost interest in dealing with people, was because of the examples of people he's dealt with, thugs, thieves, posers, bullies, you name it and it has probably found a reason to target him for something, though as a good side he has developed certain methods of peacefully deterring conflicts brought on by such annoying types of people. Regardless of his preference for avoiding conflict however, and he's theorized that may be the very reason why, He has an extremely violent side, if the right buttons are pushed he will lose himself and often brutalize whoever did so to the best of his ability, though his 'success rate' is about 50/50 thus far, though if he were to ever get any real skill in combat he could be a dangerous person to piss off. and again despite this and his apparent 'loner-ism', he is fiercely loyal to the few friends he does make, the harming of which happens to be one of his 'buttons'.

Moving on, With his experiences with 'normal people' turning away his interest in dealing with them, he began to prefer the company of fantasy and game characters, not in the creepy 'dirty' ways, but in the ways that make him long to be in a world with such far more interesting people

Now then, moving on, on 'that day' he was doing what he usually did in the middle of the night, Heading into the nearest forested area to explore nature, He wore a black trench-coat to make himself next to impossible to be seen by accident, with his usual Baggy pants and long sleeved shirt beneath it, and carried his favorite sword with him Tied thoroughly to his waist, anti sword laws be damned. His actions up to the summoning were pretty plain, just walking on his way and interacting with what few creatures felt safe enough to come near him. His first thought when the world began to wobble and blur in his vision was 'Shit... I must've bumped into something poisonous', though he was quick enough to let himself slump down against a nearby tree to avoid face planting in the dirt.

When he awoke and found himself surrounded by towering structures of a strange fantastical design and seemed to glow an eerie light, he couldn't help himself, rather than freak out like 'normal' people might have, he leapt to his feet and shouted a loud cheerful "WOOOOOO!!!!", and set out to find out what would be the first person he'd encounter. Thus far he knew nothing, not about the oath laid upon his skin, nor that he could now utilize magic, or any detail about this world.

Appearance: [I got tired of scouring for truely fitting pictures XD so I made due with what's below =3]

He's not especially tall, little under 6 foot, and resembles the first picture except with red hair and his eyes have started changing colors since he arrived in this new world. His oath Resembles the second picture, but is silver in color, and It is plastered across both shoulders, biceps, and part of his upper back. His Angel Oath actually gives off a magical emission when he uses it's power or various levels of magic, with minor things is only gives off a small emission, like in the first picture, But When used at full It gives off a much large image that resembles Wings and His arms glow as well, showing off the ammount of Life energy contained in him due to the Oath. While the 'emission' does look like wings, It does not actually give functional wings, Also the Halos from the picture do NOT appear XD.

Made an update to it =3 hopefully that backstory is okay XD it's kinda like a glimpse into 'my' life XD minus the forest walking DX I really want to o.o but we have packs of dogs around here wandering about, 'every' house in this neighbor hood has one or 2 pets, dogs are fucking popular, some have 4-10 pets, or dogs, And of course some will get loose, and they form packs and wander the neighborhood together. I never go out at night without my sword xD If one charges at me he'll definitely meet the blade before he meets me, much as I love animals I'm not going to get myself killed trying not to hurt one.

Are there only 2 unique oaths? I was just wondering just in case I come up with something a little different that would be plausible.

I asked the same thing =3 Xelo said the angel and devil oaths were the only one of the kinds there are and the other 3 are for the rest of the heroes. of course that doesn't mean you can't try to convince him to let ya use a creation of your own ^.^ 'safe' would be just pick one of the other 3, but it never hurts to try in terms of asking about making custom things.

Well, what did you have in mind Ruler? There are only two "unique" oaths in that they are the Devil and Angel Oath (for story purposes). If you were thinking of some sort of specialized sort of magic, or specialized form of martial art, etc, then it's fully within the realm of a Hero's Oath capabilities as a Mel or Trave respectively. What exactly did you plan on introducing as unique?

I thought about it and it would probably be a Twis.

Well I was thinking of having a character who uses Ice magic, but he wouldn't really be adept at casting spells (even though he could if he was skilled enough) instead he'd be more like a warrior and use it to make a weapon (being fairly agile and skilled). The only reason I was unsure was because the Twis seems to be more like jack of all trades and a master of none. It worried me because I was hoping he would be a fairly proficient at close-quarters/melee style like a Trave.

And if you don't want to read something like that. I was basically worried that a Twis like my idea wouldn't exactly fit your description. So if there were other unique marks I was just wondering if I would've been able to grab that. (A few name ideas: Death, Space, Nature, Time etc.)

Actually, your depiction of the skills desired is a perfectly reasonable application of the Twis Oath. It's not a "jack of all trades, master of none" in that it would be a mediocre combatant, but rather a "middle way" which sacrifices some aspects of the Mel or Trave oath in order to attempt to compensate their shortcomings. Of course your lack of traditional spellcasting would be your limitation of your Mel aspect; and your incorporation of magic into fighting is perfectly fine. You can have the heightened battle ability, it's a natural part of the Hybrid Oath, but realistically, you won't out arm-wrestle a Trave, put bluntly, and that's the sacrifice on the Trave side. You WILL have that agility/speed/increased ability, but that's not to say you couldn't outfight them, that's why you have your Ice, if that's what you were going to use.
