::Biography::
Ashen is the adopted second son of Yarrow Bromson, a mid level arcane specialist from Norren; a midsized town in the eastern forests of Eurdin. As interesting as the idea of a human randomly taking a catfolk kit home one night is, how he stumbled across Ashen was even stranger. The arcanist quite literally did stumbled across the child. It was on his return journey home after one of his research trips. Half-blinded by the storm that had sprang up, he was struggling along the coastline path home when he tripped over the wailing kit, wrapped in a blanket that was, by then, soaked through with rain. Human decency prevented him from just leaving the helpless kit to die, and since he could find no evidence of any other catfolk, or even beastfolk in the area, he took the child home with him. He eventually adopted the kit as his own child after he fail to find any information about any ships from or to Logue that would have passed by the area around that time.
Yarrow, either displaying a fit of creativity or depressing lack of it, named him Ashen Furred Yarrowson (because the color of his fur was similar to that of 'clean' ashes). Yarrow already had a child, a boy only a year older than Ashen was (assumed to be). Once it was made clear that Ashen wasn't a pet, the two began tolerating each other, that eventually evolving to a relatively normal brotherhood, if fraught with a strong sense of sibling rival. It didn't take long for Yarrow to realize his new child's Affinity with magic, and his research eventually revealed Ashen's stormborn blood. Since such power could be dangerous untrained, and since he had learned playing favourites in anything could lead to a house wrecking war between Han and Ashen, he took it upon himself to teach them both magic.
Now, affinity hardly meant interest, much less love, and the same could be said about the 'because my brother has it' reaction. So though Yarrow tried to teach them the arcane arts, neither found it to be their favoured subject, and both still strayed to other interests, never really paying the lessons the fullest attention they should have. In fact, the only reason they did the bit of training did in it was mostly just to please their father. Instead of both learning all that the lore that their father was attempting to teach them, the both focused. Ashen picked up on the more destructive magic arts, starting down the path of a warmage, while his brother instead learned the more subtle arts of the beguiler. Yarrow took it to be another display of their rivalry and their tendency to opposed each other. In reality, they had both paled at the amount of work Yarrow was giving them, discussed it, and decided to split the load, flipping a coin to determine who got what. Not that they would ever admit that to there father.
Once they attained a level in it though, they went back to their main interest. Ashen, still a catfolk despite his human family, had been learning the ways of a field scout, often bringing back prey from his hunting trips. He learned from the town's best hunter, favouring a spear over a blade. Han, on the other hand, learned the ways of the Swashbuckler, earning cash through exhibition matches and duels. Ever so often, the two would spar (often read full on battle to surrender), spear vs sword, an event certain to attract a crowd.
Still, the two are best friends, helping each other out when the need arises. Ashen's path often takes him away from home for days, even weeks at a time, and he has since come to better appreciate the magic his father taught him, and the edge it gives him in a bind. It has been a few weeks since he and Han last met, or sparred, and they made plans to meet up at the festival if they had time, since both were going to be there; Hans hired on to participate in an the exhibition fight and Ashen contracted as a trail guide by a large family (though the contract was only to get them there).
