And then I ate the bowl!
Carl hunkered abit when the explosion ripped the door off it's hinges, grinning abit. He swung up his LMG and carefully made his way towards he door, keeping pace with Ross. He gave Ross a nod, and in perfect sync, breached the door with him. He took everything in at a glance. Four hostage takers, the three VIPs. The room inside. Training kicked in. He raised his LMG gunning down one of the takers with a 10 round burst. He felt AK rounds ping and crack against his armor. He turned from his kill watching Ross out of the corner of his eye. Feeling a round ping off the faceplate of his helmet. It didn't phase him for more then 1 second as he raised his LMG again and cut him down with Ross. He stepped forward and swept the room while Ross saw to the hostages. Carl nodded at them as a form of saying you're welcome. He in the meantime swept the room, checking corner and behind furniture just in case there was anyone left. He stepped up beside Ross, "All clear." He smiled a little, then nodded, "Sure I got this Cap." He turned to the door and headed out, following the cave up. In doing so, encountering a single skinny who had made it down into the mine. Carl gunned him down with extreme prejudice. He continued on leaving the skinnies bullet ridden body to rot for all he cared. He came up to the surface then ducked as a group of eleven skinnies opened up on him. Carl blinked not sure when the first group they had decimated had had time to call for reinforcements.
He growled angrily as his LMG came up again. This time, everything slowed down as anger fueled adrenaline kicked in. His eyes swept the eleven men, and their unarmed ancient half track. Carl quickly checked his ammo count on his LMG. The raised it to his shoulder. He picked a target, the one on the far left. He braced himself. Then began firing. He cut an almost perfectly flat line of fire right across the skinny contingent. The first man going down as his legs were cut out from under, him, the second and third screamed in pain and horror as the rounds stitched across their chests. Four and five pitched over forward as rounds almost cut them in half at the stomach. six, seven, eight and nine sent down as rounds ripped through their shoulders and arms. Ten and eleven tried to run. But Carl's adrenaline and anger fueled reflexes cut their legs out from under them then put the last rounds of his current ammo bag into their backs. As the world seemed to hit play again he heard and felt his ammo count hit empty. He lowered his LMG and hit the radio on his helmet, "HQ, HQ this is Knight Two. Hostages secure, LZ at the site is clear. Get the QRF chopper in here ASAP. Will stay on station until they arrive."
Carl reloaded while waiting. And just as he finished he heard something from behind him, spinning but no raising his LMG when he saw Ross with the VIPs arriving. He smiled as thy joined him, "QRF will be here momentarily Cap." As he said tha the Chinook appeared around the side of the hill the mine is built into and slides in for a landing. Carl raised a hand to shield from some of the dirt and wind kicked up. He smiled at the Ranger's as they came to talk with them. He gave one of their number a fist bump as they headed off to make some noise. He called after them, "Go safely gentlemen, eyes up."
He turned to follow Ross, Carl immediately saw to the weapon systems, he jerked the Mk19 back into place, "Erik I think was his first name. Our new Count of Chaos yeah. I met him in passing. Still on trials and the lot. Didn't want to get in the way of his learning curve. He really isn't too far off is he? Yeah we can go and surprise him, help him clean up the mess he's likely in. Isn't one of our Little Birds in the air with him right now? Lots of fire there, but with the two of us he ought to be able to clean up fairly well." He jumped into the gunner seat, and reloaded the Mk19. He nodded to Ross and grabbed the side of the Devil, "All green and clear to kick it. Fast as you can Jeeves." He grinned a little behind his face plate which he finally just noticed had a ding on it. He pulled it off his helmet to look at the quarter sized small circle of cracks and impacted plastic. The bullet that had hit him hadn't really registered so it was all kind of confusing to see the impact point, "When the hell did this happen?" He mused to himself. He shrugged and put it back on, ready to get back into the heat.
