D&D 3.5 (War of the Races)

It is late winter and yet the first heavy snow has just begun to fall, turning the roads to slushy mud and making dry wood difficult to find. The village of Humberl lies at the edge of the Forest of Silence with a road traveling north all the way to the large city of Garlstown, where the king of gnomes reigns, and south through the human kingdom of Norbon. The village of Humberl is small and diverse in racial makeup, though monstrous humanoids are rare. For the last few weeks, there have been stories of creatures in the woods with a few disappearances and abandoned caravans have been found, looted and sometimes with bodies still laying among the wreckage. In Humberl, the villagers whispered of dark times, but tried to carry on with their normal lives as if nothing was wrong.
That was until last night. Creatures riding wolves with glowing eyes emerged from the snow-shrouded night carrying torches that were used to put buildings aflame. Larger armored figures moved among them, putting women and children to the sword as readily as the men who tried to fend them off. The clash of steel on steel and the more horrifying sound of steel rending flesh and cries piercing the night filled the village with its terrible song. In a matter of minutes that seemed like hours, the creatures had left, leaving many of the buildings in flame, including the Temple of Pelor, Toni’s General Store and quite a few houses. Most families were left grieving lost loved ones, and the next morning woke early to set about digging graves beside the Temple of Wee-Jas, which managed to escape the entire onslaught.

The characters all find themselves in Humberl, either having been there through the attack, assisting in some way or hiding, or having just arrived in the early hours of the morning. The villagers move about as if lost in a fog of disbelief and fear and any strangers riding in are at first shied away from before they obviously bring no harm. No child is anywhere to be seen as in the night the surviving children were being gathered by the priestess of Ehlonna to be taken to a place of refuge. The mayor, who also happens to be the cobbler, calls for a meeting to take place midday at the inn to discuss what to do about the attack.

ok Mew, looks like a great start I like the character. One question about the background. Is that village that she is from the same that is attacked at the start? or is she now traveling for some reason?

Just need to start writing up the actual stats for the character now gj

@ Shifter: those stats look good, can't wait to see what you make out of it

    sounds good Mew.

@ Grievous: not anything dire, as you have your hit points correct, but you still have on your character sheet 4d10 as your hit dice ;p

I thought you placed your con mod +4, to your class hit die. Well i'll remove it until later, and look it up maybe. For some reason I always forget how to do HP.

    Despite it's importance.

lol ya. You don't add the con modifier to the hit dice, only to the actual number of hit points gained each level. so you are 1d10 HD with 14 (10+4) hit points. Every level, you will roll and add 4 to the result to get your new hit points.

also, you don't get goblin as a language, only common and draconic. With your -1 to intelligence, that is all you get

Your background is well written and very interesting, good work on it. I'll overlook the fact that your a "great warrior and leader" at level 1 for the sake of story. You are a paladin after all Make those slight changes to Hit Dice and language and your character is accepted
