Madness, its in everyone. An intoxicating curse that has plagued humanity since its existence. A thin line is walked between truth and lies, good and evil, ignorance and the aware. In retrospect is this not all relative? For it is the victors who decide it all, and so the only option left............ is to win.

You are the only weapon that can walk between reality and obscurity and your greatest burden is carrying the very force you seek to destroy. It is insanity itself and its manifestation is Alchemy. An art that allows an individual to surpass his or her limits and acquire the God like power to cause change, to transmute matter but at the cost of his or her sanity. Everything requires a payment and to accept such tainted power you offer your very humanity and those that go truly "insane" become mere hollow shells that sow chaos and destruction with their every step.

To prevent the decay of our world an organization rose to act as the agent of balance, eventually becoming the monopoly over Alchemy itself. And all those who choose to stand as an obstacle are judged from the shadows with the ideology that "to kill a monster you need a monster". But you are no monster, neither are you an Alchemist the name you are given is your purpose which is to contain insanity. You are an Asylum!

Your role is to serve the Alchemy Management and Restraint Organization (A.M.R.O). Your duty is to investigate claims of the use of unauthorized Alchemy and if required hunt and silence rogue alchemists whose unregulated use of Alchemy is a threat to the world and the stability of A.M.R.O which must go unchallenged.

However start of the 20th Century, the foundation that A.M.R.O oh so carefully constructed has slowly started to degrade. A sudden fluctuation has occurred causing an unprecedented increase in the flow of Alchemy. Where as its cause is still yet to be discovered the threat that can be perceived is very troubling and in the end one can but contemplate whether being sane is truly worth the madness?

But in the end.......we are all a little crazy....aren't we?

In reading the first page of the OOC, I had a couple of questions. I'm still reading and maybe I'll answer these on my own, but for now:

- Is Sanity/personal energy/whatever a limited quantity, or does it 'regenerate?' Like if there were a significant Alchemical firefight, would that leave the various Asylums drained/damaged forever (thus making them progressively less useful as the nightmares crept in), thus necessitating their replacement? Or do individuals recover over time, unless they're 'broken' by a particular cast?

- You're looking for two players and thus four characters, yes?
