The Division (Reboot)
The late 1980s saw the collapse of Communism in Russia and its Soviet satellites. While this was hailed as a good thing by the democratic nations of the world, the need for Russia to stimulate her failing economy meant that terrorist groups and criminal organizations were able to get their hands on military hardware for a mere pittance. This in turn caused an increase in illegal arms dealing, which combined with other conditions, caused an increase in terrorism and political upheaval in many areas around the globe.
In the fall of 2007, several Neo-Soviet terrorists were captured and interrogated by the Russian intelligence service. The interrogators discovered that an organization calling itself the Syndicate was behind many of the newer broadcasted threats, and that they'd been arming criminals and radicals for the past two years in preparation for something much, much bigger. The Russians sat on the information, sure that their captives were bluffing... and then a dirty bomb went off in Berlin in 2008.
There was a brief international panic as leaders were assembled, meetings were scheduled, and talks were held. Though many of the leaders present had very little in common, all of them agreed that an organization like the Syndicate needed to be dealt with, and that the quickest way to do it would be through full international cooperation.
Thus, the Division--a clandestine international group whose sole purpose lay in undermining the Syndicate--was born. For twenty-two years, it has struggled to keep humanity safe from those who would destroy it. For the most part, it has been successful, and with each passing year, its jurisdiction and focus has expanded outside Syndicate activity... and when the Syndicate suddenly stopped making moves, the Division was able to stay afloat.
Now, the year is 2012 and Syndicate activity has picked up again after its year-and-a-half-long hiatus. The Division has begun looking to employ a group of operatives who can bring down the Syndicate once and for all--operatives to be pulled from the very best of what the world has to offer.
The fate of the free world rests in the hands of these agents...
