Thread: Peace Within The War (Silentmalu x SilverRain)

Zach watched, his breath held as he trusted Amanda to know if Nila was gone forever. In his fear he wasn't really focused on how or what she was doing to Nila as his mind only processed that she was checking for a heart beat, not actually feeling her up. Nila was a small girl in general, so it made it difficult to notice right off if she was actually female when dressed as a soldier. But her breasts were just large enough to confirm Amanda's fear.

Nila murmured when she felt her breast being squeezed, something that she hadn't experienced before and certainly not from a fellow woman. Zach breathed a sigh of relief when he heard her make a sound. She was still alive and they still had a chance to free themselves. Perhaps one day the four of them could have that freedom they had been speaking of. Nila's eyes slowly opened, focusing on Amanda as she lay in her arms.
"We can reject everything else: religion, ideology, all received wisdom. But we cannot escape the necessity of love and compassion.... This, then, is my true religion, my simple faith. In this sense, there is no need for temple or church, for mosque or synagogue, no need for complicated philosophy, doctrine or dogma. Our own heart, our own mind, is the temple. The doctrine is compassion. Love for others and respect for their rights and dignity, no matter who or what they are: ultimately these are all we need. So long as we practice these in our daily lives, then no matter if we are learned or unlearned, whether we believe in Buddha or God, or follow some other religion or none at all, as long as we have compassion for others and conduct ourselves with restraint out of a sense of responsibility, there is no doubt we will be happy." ~ Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama

Amanda smiled at Nila (though somewhat sadly). She still couldn't really believe it. For the past day or two, she had been having a crush on Niles... no Nila. She imagined Niles a valiant and protective prince who would embrace her and kiss her. She thought of him as the man of her dreams. He would dance with her and hold her safe in his arms. he would fight off danger. And she would be there for him.

And now he was gone. The Niles she knew was no longer here. No... that was incorrect. In fact, he was never here. He was nothing but a fantasy. He never existed and the 'Niles' she interacted with was only for a few brief moments. Amanda was so happy once before, she thought she had found her love. When oh when would she be able to find someone she truly loved? Someone just like Niles? Amanda held on tightly to Nila as her lips trembled and tears came to her eyes.

"Waaah! *sob* Why are there no cute guys!" cried Amanda suddenly.

Daniel folded his arms and spoke back in protest. "Aw hey. I'm cute. Right Zach?" said Daniel as he looked to his brother with a mischievous look.

"B-But you're not Niles..." stammered Amanda.

    "Who's Niles?"

Zach did his best to hide his smirk. This was a serious moment for Amanda but he couldn't help but find the humor in it. "We called Nila Niles, remember?" He stated to his brother who clearly hadn't caught up yet. Nila looked up through foggy vision at the image of Amanda balling her eyes out over Niles. It took her a moment to register that she had been Niles. Only then did her face redden.

Zach moved to Amanda, kneeling down and placing his hands on her shoulders. "She is Niles, just...female. Start with friends. Maybe on our journey you will find the person you really are meant to be with." Zach did his best to be reassuring, but he knew the nurses heart had just been shattered. Granted, it was a figment of her imagination that was shattered, but he knew it still hurt.

    (OOC: Very cute post. )

"I- I guess so" said Amanda meekly. She didn't look up at Zach nor at Nila because she felt embarrassed and a bit ashamed for her emotional display. She hoped that they wouldn't think bad of her. Oh, if only she could forget this ever happened. When would she meet a cute guy anyway? Most of the soldiers around here were burly, rough men. And for those that weren't they were already taken. Amanda quietly looked to the side.

Then Daniel spoke up (with his usual, goofy intentions) "Hey, if it makes you feel better, there are times when I disguised myself as a female and made drunken men fall for me haha. I even made my own little cotton bags to stuff down my chest"

Amanda tried really hard to imagine Daniel as a woman...

Zach sighed. "Yes...it was a rather sad night to say the least. Rather a sad few month period when Daniel was known as Daniella." He moved to Nila and carefully picked her up out of Amanda's arms, supporting her head before he sat down again so his brother could continue to cheer up Amanda. He looked over Nila's neck, frowning when he saw the bruising. "Are you sure you are alright?"

Nila smiled, softly. "I will be." Her voice was hoarse, but she knew that she had survived.

Zach sighed. "Listen...we had to make a deal in order to get him off of you." He explained that they had to find the ward so that the Captain could kill him. Meaning they had to go back. Nila paled at that fact, knowing that they were risking their own lives once more.

"Hey, no need to be worried. We just have to create a commotion that scatters everyone. Whoever is the last one remaining next to the Captain is the one. We can run over and then quickly slash their back... although they might very well retaliate" said Daniel as his voice trailed off. "Or we could dupe the soldiers into doing our work for us. Maybe we can think up a story"

Amanda piped up. "Oh, how about we spread a rumor that there is a traitor with a tattoo on his back. Then they can all attack each other. Would that work? We still get freed right?"

"Or we could just lure them into a room full of explosives and blow up the Captain just like that. Even faster" said Daniel who was probably getting ahead of himself.

Zach smiled at Amanda's suggestion. "Actually a rumor might work. Considering the commotion that just occurred, everyone will be looking for survivors and to know that there is a traitor actually among them would send them into a panic. And, if it doesn't work, I completely agree with blowing him up." He had tried to have them burned alive. Not only that he had Daniel locked away and Nila sent on a suicide mission. The idea of blowing him up was tame compared to what Zach wanted to do to him.

He took a breath and looked at Amanda and Daniel. "Alright...we should head to Amanda's village for now. We need rest, food, and a plan. Only then can we go back and get this foul deed done." He stood, helping Nila to her feet and ensuring she wasn't going to collapse on them.

Amanda got up as well then lead the way. "My village shouldn't be far from here. I could only hope that they remember me" Amanda then stopped as she turned around and looked at Daniel, Zach and Nila. "But I don't know how they will react upon see you guys. Your armies are ultimately stronger than my village and I don't know what they might do. We'll have to sneak in first"

They walked around in almost pitch black darkness as Amanda followed the path where the air got colder. She memorised the path well from before. Soon they would come to an opening and emerge from a cave. "My village is just down there. There is an old church we can hide in" said Amanda as she looked out over the mountain and went down an old path. The church was a bit dusty, but it provided enough shelter from the wind.

"You guys rest here for a moment. I'll be back with some food" said Amanda before she headed out. Little did she notice the pieces of paper scattered here and there that listed the traitors. Her name was on it.

Zach guided Nila to sit down upon one of the pews that was still in one piece. "Rest here, alright?" He stated gently, touching her cheek to look into her eyes. He was worried about her and the damage that the spirit might have caused. When he felt that she was as well as she could be, he stood and looked to Daniel. "Keep her company. I'll go have a look around." He remembered clearly the conversation about him and his brother having feelings for Nila. Despite his feelings, he couldn't keep her away from Daniel and felt his brother should have some time with her.

None of them saw the lists of traitors upon them. Of which had their names as well. Nila wasn't yet confirmed to be alive as the Captain assumed that she would have been killed when she took the message. Either way, her looks alone would signify her as a traitor to anyone who saw her. Nila sat silently, looking up at the fallen images of the religion that practiced here. Her life had been miserable for so long and it seemed that there was little hope in sight. She had gone against her people, destroyed their home. She had ruined their lives.

Daniel sat down next to Nila and could see the sorrow in her eyes. He wasn't really good at convincing people, but he thought he would try anyway. Daniel gently places an arm across Nila's back and would let rest her back on his chest (it was more comfortable thant he pew anyway). Nila would also be able to feel his heart beating and if she wanted she could rest her head on his shouder. "No need to feel bad Nila. Even if you hadn't done it, the Captain would have made someone else do it. This is what war is like" said Daniel as he comforted her. He pulled Nila close to him in his arms. "We just have to be thankful that we are still in one piece" said Daniel as his heartrate increased.

When Zach stepped outside, he would find that most of the town looked deserted, save for a few tucked away civilians on guard duty (they had a black cloth tied around one wrist). The civilian soldiers weren't in too good a shape. Some of them looked too famished to even stay awake, hence why they didn't notice Zach. But this was only during the night however. The town had taken a self defense measure to make the town seem as non-populated as it could, perhaps even passing it off as a ghost town. Whatever the look, the aim was to not make it seem like a taret for the other two warring cities.

As Zach stepped into the streets, there was one soldier who heard his footsteps. He was leaning on the wall and looked up to spot Zach not far from him.
