Thread: Peace Within The War (Silentmalu x SilverRain)

Nila hesitated for a moment when Daniel put his arm around her. She hadn't been near a man before, not like this. After a moment she relaxed and curled up in his arms. Hearing his heart beat against her ear was comforting as was the warmth of his body. "I know what war is like...but I tried to go against it. It was why I was tortured and ran away. If I hadn't...if I had just accepted what was happening...my people wouldn't have been slaughtered. But I lit the match, Daniel. I blew up my own base. My own home...I betrayed them all."

Zach glanced at the soldier but did his best to remain calm. He wasn't dressed like the enemy though in this day and age each side was distinct in appearances. He didn't want any trouble and hoped that the fact that he was unarmed would come across as such. He just wanted to find some food and any help they could get for the four of them before they made their way back to his home to defeat the Captain.
"We can reject everything else: religion, ideology, all received wisdom. But we cannot escape the necessity of love and compassion.... This, then, is my true religion, my simple faith. In this sense, there is no need for temple or church, for mosque or synagogue, no need for complicated philosophy, doctrine or dogma. Our own heart, our own mind, is the temple. The doctrine is compassion. Love for others and respect for their rights and dignity, no matter who or what they are: ultimately these are all we need. So long as we practice these in our daily lives, then no matter if we are learned or unlearned, whether we believe in Buddha or God, or follow some other religion or none at all, as long as we have compassion for others and conduct ourselves with restraint out of a sense of responsibility, there is no doubt we will be happy." ~ Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama

Daniel cradled Nila, comforting her. "You had no other choice Nila. The base that blew up didn't have any women and children in it - they were all the ones who bullied you. And even if not, in war, its every man for himself. You never know which day would be your last. Think about it - by blowing up the base, it means that they can't use it to station their men there. They'll eventually have to go back to their own camp and that means that there is hope. If you had just accepted what was happening, it could mean that the whole town would have been enslaved or something equally as worse"

The lone soilder calmly walked up to Zach. His sword was not drawn, but it was held in a ready position. However, since they were in the shadows, he could not really see that Zach was from another town. "Hey, what are you doing out here? It's past curfew. I haven't seen you before" questioned the soldier.

Amanda was in another part of town. She was able to sneak into the place where they built armor. She was collecting the ones which were thrown out as they weren't guarded.

"Is that all we can do? Justify our decisions in such a way to seem that we are not the bad guy we are fighting? Isn't that all anyone is doing? This war will continue on forever with such a philosophy as there is no way to see the other side as making the same mistakes as we are. We cannot see each other as equals even though we commit the same atrocities over and over." Nila's voice was soft as she spoke her thoughts. This was why she had stood up to her captain when one of Daniel's men had been tortured. The hope that others would see that they couldn't continue such actions and still hope for peace.

Zach nodded to the man. "I am a traveler and not a part of this town. It seemed to have been deserted. I am only looking for food then I will move on." Zach didn't like to lie which was probably why he never got far in the ranks of his men and was seen as weak by many others. He chose the truth even if he would get him killed in the end.

For the first time in his life Daniel didn't know how to respond. He just continued to hold Nila. Man, why did he get all the though questions? If only Zach was here. He would be smart enough to answer it. In truth, Zach didn't know how to stop the war. He felt he was only part of it. And he was selfish at that. He looked at Nila again "I... actually don't know what we can do. But if you have a plan, I'll support it" he said.

The soldier relaxed a bit after finding that Zach wasn't a bad guy. "The curfew is just for the safety of the townsfolk. I'll get you some bread" said the soldier as he made a signal to another one stationed not far away. The other soon came back a few loafs of bread. "Good luck traveler" said the soldier as he waved and went back to his own post. Then he suddenly stopped as he heard a scratching noise.

"HALT! Who goes there?!" shouted the soldier as he drew his sword.

In the distance a "Meep!" was heard as things were dropped on the ground. Then there were running footsteps fleeing from the spot. The soldier decided to give chase. "Everyone on alert! We may have an intruder!" said the soldier. He gave one look at Zach, but he didn't seem to be one of them. The soldier ran in the direction of the dropped pile.

Nila smirked. "A plan? No...someone like me doesn't have plans, Daniel. I'm rather worthless when it comes to war. Only those who wish for blood seem to hold any power or wisdom." Nila had been a scout and archer before her betrayal. She had seen many things, all things she disapproved of. Many times those who were weak of heart or who didn't wish to be a part of this were killed one way or another. In a way she wondered why she had yet to join them.

Zach recognized that meep. He cursed under his breath. If it really was Amanda, then he felt that she had lied to them. This was meant to be her home and now she was stealing? That didn't make sense at all. Zach sighed and ran after the soldier in hopes to catch a glimpse, and stay a weapon, should it actually be Amanda.

OOC: Hey, I'm really sorry, but I think I'll have to quit for this RP. I've been drawing blanks for ideas for quite a while and Daniel plus Amanda aren't really turning out like I wanted them to (nor are my villain characters). I liked RPing with you, though its only now that I realised that it would have been a nice close off at the underground cave part instead of leaving it hanging like this.
