    Grimm Forest OOC

    The humans used to stray from this place. They used to fear it, tell stories of the curses and dark beings that resided within. It should have stayed as such.

    But it didn't.

    No. Their innate curiosity drove them to find the bravest among themselves and send them into my dwelling.

    This forest was not meant for the living. It houses only the dead, the cursed, and myself.

    I am the Grimm Reaper. Contrary to popular belief, I am not evil. I am but a guide to the dead. I take them when it is their time, and I ferry them away to my forest. The cursed naturally gravitate there, as it is a place for the unheard of.

    The humans call it Grimm Forest. I call it home.

    Grimm Forest

    "Forever it is winter. Forever it is night. Forever this forest, is cursedly white. It houses the dead, it welcomes the cursed, in it the living, will find naught but the worst"

    So, the basic idea of this RP is, essentially, a group of humans sent into the Grimm Reapers forest. The home of all things dead and cursed. Their task is to recover the Grimm Reapers scythe, said to give immortality to it's wielder, and return it to the king.

    It is based in the renaissance era, thus weapons and armor, supplies and the like will be limited to what was realistic back then. While the forest itself is 'magic', so to speak, magic will be unavailable to the players.

    On the quest through the forest, the group will encounter anything from a group of angry spirits or a gang of hungry ghouls to a pack of bloodthirsty werewolves or a mass of killer demons. The Grimm himself, (who will be played by me, his CS is later in the page) will be making regular appearances to dissuade the group from going any further, or if one of the group dies he will arrive to ferry off their soul to a different portion of the forest.

    NPCs and 'the forest' will also be played mostly by me. The forest having a seeming life of it's own, the players will encounter trees or vines trying to kill them just as often as demons or ghosts.


    Rules
    1: The usual- No godmodding, metagaming, etc. You know. Common courtesies.
    2: Not to sound like a prick, but I am the GM. My word is law. I don't plan on abusing this power, but you get the point. Mostly it will be used to settle arguments.
    3: If you are inactive without letting me know for a month, or I see you posting on other pages and simply ignoring this one for a week, I will assume you have flaked out. First I will PM you, and if you don't respond, I will have your character killed for the sake of the story moving forward. Deaths will be done tastefully and in a way that gives the story more juice.
    4: If you do end up making two or more characters, expect at least one of them to die at some point. I have plans for the story in which some deaths might be required or appreciated. I will, of course, contact you before I ever kill one of your characters.
    5: Yes. There are a lot of rules. Sorry.
    6: I am not god. If I wan't to play as god, I will make god a character.
    7: The above stated is a good idea. It might just happen. Maybe.
    8: Sorry again for the many rules. You will, of course, need to read them all. I'll know if you didn't, because there won't be a nice big WEEEE! at the bottom of your CS.

    Equipment: (Armor, weapons, tools, etc. Be specific, right down to what food they brought. Helps give places where trouble pops up, like running out of food or water. Or having it all stolen by a greedy gremlin. )

    Name: Grimm

    Appearance:

    Personality: Though when he encounters the players he will mostly seem grim and foreboding, Grimm is, in all honestly, and angel. Simply one tasked with the dead. When taking a soul and guiding it away, Grimm is warm and welcoming. Kind, in a word.

    History: Grim is almost as old as time itself. He was among the first of the angels, whom were each tasked with a specific place in the rising worlds. Grim was tasked with the protection and guiding of the dead and the cursed. Though this gave him a very dark appearance to the slowly developing life of the worlds, he took the task with a sense of pride.
    Over time, he began to look less and less like an angel, purely because he became what his task pictured him as. His wings grew black, his flesh melted away, leaving him a living skeleton, and his golden armor became robes, black as ravens feathers.

    Reason for being sent on the quest: N/A

    Equipment:
    The robes- Grims robes are his signature clothing. Long and flowing, and black as the darkest sky.

    The Scythe- Each of the first angels was given an 'artifact', as a sign of office among the other angels. Grim was given his scythe, with the power to grant life eternal, or to sever the bonds of spirit and body entirely. He does not carry it with him, as many believe, but keeps it hidden in the center of his forest, away from harm. Only is it used when raising a soul to immortality, or punishing the darkest of sinners, and severing their very soul in two, cursing it with endless conscious blackness.


    Angles greatsword- Each of the angels, first to newest generation, is gifted a greatsword. Grimms has become twisted in image just like himself over time.


    Skills: Grimm is a master negotiator, after countless ages convincing souls it was their time to go. It is rare that a soul will ward off his advance, and each time one does, they are gifted with Grimms respect, which usually entails several extra years of life added to their sand glass.

    Foresight of death- Grimm is capable of looking into ones future, though only to one specific point. He can foresee only their death.

    Control over dead- Though he cannot entirely control all dead or cursed, he can heavily influence them. He refuses to use this ability to turn the cursed and dead against any living being, however. Usually he uses it to tell them -not- to attack the living.

    Misc: I -wrote- the rules. So I won't let people cheat on reading them by reading my misc section.

    yep. I forgot something. Technically, there's more then one playable race:

    Humans- Mostly, you'll all be humans. However, there are different things that will occur later. Humans are, in all honesty, just humans. No special powers are really available to them, unless you give me plausible reason for a realistic 'special ability' on your character. Don't need an image example for humans, I should hope.

    Ghosts and Ghouls- Thus the things that happen later. If you're character dies ICly, but you're still active in the RP, I give you the choice to play them as a ghost or a ghoul. The difference: Ghosts keep all the intelligence they had as a living person, and gain the ability to walk through pretty much everything, including people. They will look exactly like they did in life, but they will be extremely pale, almost to the point of transparency. They can also not form in bright light.
    Ghouls, however, do not keep all of their intelligence. They become flesh hungry, and hideously disfigured, rotting away slowly until they are nothing more then walking skeletons. They have a tendency to travel in groups of four or five. And though they keep some intelligence, and some even the capability of speech, they can no longer make large decisions. They're interesting to play, to be sure.

    Demons- I wan't two or three of these tops. If you make one, I expect you to have more then just them to play, as the demons will only be asked to post every once in a while. Essentially, they look like very large men, though the high demons, which will be what the player is if they make a demon, have sprouted several more demonic extensions. Like tails, horns, and spikes all over the body. The high demons are the guardians of Grimm Forest. They'll be asked to show up and fight the group of players occasionally.

    History:he was cast out he 'killed' someone and as punishment he was sent here he dosent really care,it's not like he's going to be in danger right? anyway so right now he's wondering in this forest for god knows how long .He was born in a small village not to far from the forest,his mother died in birth and his father died in a raid he was adopted to abusive parents who didn't really care to them he was a slave (time skip) when he was old enough he got out of there,he moved to another village even closer to the forest,everyone there was nice he ended up getting married until that one night,his wife was killed beside him,because he was not harmed they thought he did it,now here he is.

    You need not remove this, as it is now receiving a response. I will be attempting to create a CS or two soon, and hopefully others will notice and garner interest in this topic as well.

    Name: Jeremy Wallace

    Appearance: Jeremy is a moderately tall caucasian individual, not quite able to fill his hauberk. He has a somewhat long face, his cheeks slightly sunken and paling in spite of the sun's attempts at tanning. He holds himself in a reserved manner, often leaning slightly forward, as if hiding something from the rest of the world. He has pale blue eyes, with dark underbellies hinting at a lack of sleep, which search his surroundings almost desperately, and pierce those of his companions when he manages to meet their gaze. Jeremy's hair is ragged and dirty, to the point where it is difficult to tell whether the brown it seems is natural, or due to the various detritus and debris which have found their way into it.

    Personality: Jeremy has a somewhat desperate will around him. He reacts somewhat apathetic to most stimuli, keeping to himself along his journeys save when interaction is necessary. When suggested that he stay behind, a strange fire flares up within him and he takes on a dark and determined stance until the topic is dropped. When asked why this fire flares, he will yield no information and remain largely unresponsive.

    History: The town Jeremy grew up in was no longer as bustling. It's greatness was falling and the citizens could all feel it's decline. As trade began to dry up, former guards turned to banditry, thus further reducing the trade and speeding the city's decline. Throughout this setting Jeremy lived, the son of a guardsman. One fell month afterwards two thirds of the city were lying blue in their homes or the streets, as the town was visited by gentle death who took all but left Jeremy. With his father's equipment he was recruited by a group of bandits, where he became skilled with the spear and crossbow.

    The band of bandits soon left the dead city for wealthier areas. Yet with greater wealth came greater security, and the band lost it's first few members. They continued on however, and continued to die until the few left were snatched up by a somewhat more organized crew. With a few successful raids under his belt, Jeremy was beginning to grow quite competent, yet even the best fail sometimes, and Jeremy was far from the best. A failed raid and many dead companions later, he found himself rotting away in a prison cell, slowly awaiting the gallows. From this perspective he heard the tales of Grimm Forest, of how the dead walked there, how it was cursed for all who were foolish to venture into it's brambles. Yet he also heard a myth of the promises it could hold. It was a land for the dead. While others were scared of that prospect, it held a certain promise for him, a tiny sliver of long lost hope which he desperately grasped. He managed to negotiate a slot in the party in avoidance of dying. A fate his judges thought far worse, yet at each moment that sliver of hope grew slightly more.

    Reason for being sent on the quest: A convict of little value to most, the quest is to the land of the dead, where those who were lost may be found once more.

    Equipment: Jeremy wears a mail hauberk with a aged metal skullcap. He carries a spear in his hand, with a crossbow safely either on his belt or bag, depending on the possible dangers of the situation. He also has a small dagger attached to his belt, though he has rarely used it for combat. In his bag is a large water skin, some bread, and dried meat. He carries 8 sturdy steel tipped bolts for his crossbow. Over all of this is a worn green cloak.

    Skills: Jeremy is skilled with spear and crossbow.

    Misc: I do not like roller coasters.

    Actually am interested in this too, I'll make a human CS once I get time and probably a high-demon too.


    The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything worthy, it's too late to stop reading it.
