Muramasa - the black blade war OOC

    IC

    Plot

Old legends speak of an ancient sword-smith of incredible evil who once brought darkness to the entire world. His blades were of the highest quality, but tempered by his blackened heart, they were imbued with the souls of demons while being forged and themselves became tools of pure evil. Whomsoever drew one of his blades from its sheath was granted immense power, but found themselves incapable of sheathing the blade again until they had drawn blood, even if it was their own. eventually all men who touched the evil smith's blades was driven to madness and became nothing more than a murderous, mindless beast under the smith's control.

The smith's name, was Muramasa and with his army of demonized soldiers, men, women and children who'd taken up his blades and become corrupted by them, no longer feeling pain, fear, hunger, or tiredness, only an insatiable need to kill and main, the demon smith threatened to bathe the whole world in blood.

One day, however, the immortal sword saint Masamune, Muramasa's own former mentor, and his ten great disciples stood in humanity's defense, with their holy weapons they struck down Muramasa's legions, purging the evil from their souls and bodies, until only the demon-smith remained. Masamune, armed with his greatest blade the Yawarakai-Te (tender hands) fought Muramasa, armed of his evil Juuchi Yosamu (10,000 cold nights), with his ten disciples alongside him. Muramasa, now more devil than human himself, however, would not be struck down so easily. With the power of his great evil, he faced the eleven warriors and defeated them one by one until none stood before him save for Masamune himself. The two clashed blades for days on end but until the very end, neither seemed to be gaining the upper hand.

When the dust had settled, however, Masamune's calm heart, untainted by hatred or evil prevailed, and Muramasa's blade was shattered. However, even the holy Yawarakai-Te proved incapable of purifying a being as evil and tainted as Muramasa, and it too shattered when Masamune tried to plunge it into Muramasa's heart and rid him of his evil.

Realizing that there would be no salvation for his former student and that, if left to recover, he would only spread havoc once more, Masamune knew he would have to remove Muramasa from this world permanently. He could not, however, bring himself to outright kill Muramasa, so instead he severed the demon smith's soul from his body and imprisoned it into another one of his blades. The darkness of his soul immediately corrupted the katana and even Masamune himself felt the evil tugging at his heart, urging him to kill and maim. He knew that if the Muramasa blade ever came into the possession of a mortal, that the demon-smith's reign of terror would be born anew.

Thus, drawing on his saintly powers, he sealed the black blade away into the realm of spirits and then gave his own life in order to imbue another one of his swords with his own soul so that it would act as the bolt keeping the gateway to the Muramasa blade tightly shut.

in following, Masamune's ten disciples, after recovering from their wounds, agreed to give up their own immortality to seal away the battleground where their their master now lay in sword form, so that no humans could ever attempt to draw the Masamune sword and, with its power, gain possession of the black blade.

They turned their own weapons into the keys that would be required to unseal the battlefield, enuring that unless all ten were brought together, no one could ever gain access to the Masamune blade, vowed that they and all of their descendants would keep the weapons safe, so that Masamune's sacrifice would ever be in vain.

This is how the legend of Masamune and Muramasa, the pure white sword and the evil black blade began, and while many a brave, greedy, heroic or foolish adventurer has set out to find the resting place of Masamune, no one has ever found it, the family lines of the ten disciples having been faithful to the oath taken by their ancestors for hundreds of years. That is, until today.

It is now the dawn of the 21st century and there is unrest within the ten families. 5 of the 10 family heads have turned traitorous to their cause. Led by Tsurugi Habakiri, descendant of Kunishige Hasebe, they seek to steal the weapons of the 5 other heads and use them to unseal the Ancient battlefield and obtain the black blade Muramasa so they can use its powers to rule over all life on earth.

thus the descendants of the 10 disciples have been split into two opposing factions and now they wage war to determine the fate of the black blade and, possibly, the world.

    Description

So yeah, we'll be playing the descendants of Masamune's 10 disciples. 5 of us will have turned traitorous and will be looking to steal the weapons of the other 5 so that we can get our hands on the eponymous Muramasa blade and use it to conquer the world. the loyalist 5, naturally, will be trying to stop the traitors.

I'd prefer if each disciple had their own weapon and fighting style and will not be limiting you to Japanese characters, simply for the sake of diversity and originality. Also, feel free to be creative in your character's reasoning for picking whichever side they are currently on.

Warning: this will, inevitably be a combat-heavy roleplay. Expect that at least SOME player characters will have died by the end of all this.

    My Chracters

    Name: Tsurugi Habakiri
Nickname/alias: Fuyu no Kane (Winter's Bell)
    Age: 27
    Gender: Female
    Nationality: Japanese
    Appearance:

    Weapon*:
    Tengoku no Haaku (heaven's grasp)
    Spoiler

The katana passed down through Kunishige Hasebe's bloodline, Tengoku no Haaku, also known as the blade of god, is said to be the sword of ultimate judgement, and any who taste its blade are made to answer for their sins. Out of the ten key weapons it is known for being incredibly proud, burning the hands of anyone it deems unfit to wield it, even if they are Kunishige's direct descendants.

Powers: White Bells - Tengoku no Haaku can produce the sound of ringing bells at its master's command. Anyone who hears the sound of these bells will be afflicted with deceased perception to all senses and mild hallucination. The effects, while substantial, are also subtle, unless someone knows about the ability beforehand, they probably will not even realize when they're under its effects

Silent Night - Through her blade's power, Tsurugi can erase any and all noise produced by herself or anything/one in her vincinity

    Faction: Traitor

Personality: Cold and pragmatic, Tsurugi is known as a woman of incredible skill, even amongst the ten families and possesses a strong will to match. Her thoughts are hard to read and her true desires shrouded in mystery. She has become enamored with the forbidden power of Muramasa and seeks to take possession of it so as to use its power to bring order to the world and justice onto all evil doers. She possesses a good deal of charisma and persuasive power, as she convinced 4 other Heads to join her in her quest to free Muramasa

History: Coming from the prestigious Habakiri line, Tsurugi was raised on a firm set of rules and standards. Great intelligence, a strict moral code, knowledge of the fine arts and superior martial skill were all demanded from her, considered essential if she was going to become the next head of one of the most wealthy politically involved of the ten families. More so than her role as the face of her family however, it was stressed that she needed to understand the meaning of her more important role, that of Tengoku no Haaku's eventual bearer. Despite the last 3 Habakiri heads having been unable to draw the sword, including her own father who was a master swordsman in his own right, she was pounded with the message that it was her solemn, divine, and irrefutable duty to protect the blade, and to ensure Muramasa never be set free; that she was to honor the sacrifice made by Masamune and her ancestor Kunishige's sacrifice until her own death, just like all who came before her.

Like a doll, she obediently followed all of her instructions and all of her commands, becoming the perfect daughter and heiress that her family demanded she be, excelling at everything, standing head and shoulders above the best and never speaking out of turn, always showing filial piety and respect for her elders, never associating with those of a lesser class. Of course, when she turned 16 and was revealed to have the ability to not only draw Tengoku no Haaku, but call on its powers as if it were second nature to her, her family elders were overjoyed, convinced that she would make a worthy successor to her father.

However, after she first touched the blade, she started having dreams. Visions of battles past, of power untold, of a future where order reigned supreme in the world, and she possessed the power to govern it, freeing her from her bonds. The dreams came slowly at first, they were not clear and did not seem to have an effect on her behavior. But they grew more and more consistent over time and 3 years later, when her father mysteriously passed away due to a sudden illness and she inherited his place as the family head, and full ownership of the Tengoku no Haaku, the dreams became more and more vivid, sometimes the visions would even interrupt her waking moments, and within a year she began making alliances with other family heads, strengthening the Habakiri Group's financial and political status, and most of this without consulting any of the family elders. One year ago, in a brutal upset, she murdered the Habakiri elders as well as the Habakiri Group's board of directors, claiming full ownership of the company and undisputed rule over the family and declaring her intentions of unsealing Muramasa. Soon, one by one the heads she had conferred with in secret declared their allegiance to her cause and she blatantly stated that if the others stood in the way of her ambitions, they and their families would be wiped out, and their weapons seized by force.

The 5 remaining families did not know what to do concerning this sudden upset and, at first, considered simply giving into the traitor's demands, but soon the realization of what a world with Muramasa in it would look like set in and they decided to band together and stand against the traitorous coalition. Now, the two sides stand pitted against each-other, on the brink of all-out war. In order to minimize bloodshed, the 10 heads have all gathered in Tokyo, and stand ready to settle this amongst them selves, each side waiting for the other to make the first move.

While ready to wipe out the stubborn 'loyalists' at any moment, Tsurugi has chosen not to act yet as she has discretely ordered her men to search for a certain girl hat her visions inform her will be key to attaining her goals. The longer the loyalist families are busy anticipating her attack, the easier it will be for her agents to tack down their target with no one noticing.

the problem with awesome roleplays is they attract awesome players, and the problem with having awesome players is they usually fuck up in awesome ways, and require awesome explanations to correct their awesome mistakes.

Will be wanting to put in more details etc soon, but this is the general gist.

    Name: Samuel Dresden
    Nickname/alias: The Wanderer
    Age: 38
    Gender: Male
Nationality: Originally Denmark, but has a plain undefined accent.

    Appearance:

    Hood-up:

    Hood down:
    Spoiler

Weapon: Haiiro no Seishin (The Grey Spirit)
The Grey Spirit is a simple hardened grey oaken Quarterstaff. It bears no marks or runes, and save for grip bands in the middle and either end, it has no unique features. Wielders have always been expected to keep their connection with the spirit world as sharp as possible, whilst also having to maintain a completely unbiased outlook.

Past heads have been men and women of great balance, forethought, zen and meditation. The more desires, and the larger those desires are, the less effective Grey Spirit becomes in that wielders hands. There have been instances of descendants becoming so obsessed with gaining material matters or power that they were completely unable to use Grey Spirit.

    Power:

Balancing Act: Grey Staff gives Sam incredible agility, balance and dexterity. While not necessarily fast, he is extremely sure footed and has amazing fighting technique.

Spinning Defence: Spinning his staff very fast, Sam is able to negate a wide range of attacks and leave himself relatively unharmed.

Greater Insight: This ability is non-combative. Sam is descended from a line of very balanced minds, and as such Grey Staff has taken on, and enhanced this trait. While it does not convey to him detailed or specific information, it makes him very good at gleaning insights into people's motives etc.

    Faction: Loyalist

Personality: Sam's bloodline, the Hourou clan, have always been people of a calm and collected disposition, with a very balanced outlook on the world. Sam is no different, but with the addition of being an extremely laid back and easy going person. Some might call him lazy, he'd reply that he was simply more able to relax. He is very balanced in his views, doing his best to take all sides into account and weighing up the pros and cons. Never one to rush decisions, Sam is a calm and patient man, sometimes annoyingly so. This whole attitude probably comes from his extensive travelling over the years that most heads take part in, which has given him what he believes to be a much broader view on life, the universe and everything in it, but what some others see as pretentiousness.

History: The Hourou clan were the first to leave Japan, just days after the epic battle had taken place. The head at the time had always been one for exploring and learning of the world. They decided that taking their weapon far away from the others and never staying in one place was the best way to keep it safe from corruption. The entire family left Japan, with each brother and sister taking their branches of the family in different directions, agreeing on a secret place which only the branch leader knew of, at which to meet in five years time. This is the only time when all of the family will meet, and the only place where they stay for a full month. The location is changed at each meeting, decided on the last day.

The tradition of meeting has stayed with the clan, with each branch bringing news and knowledge from around the world to all other branches. These get-togethers are always a joyous occasion, celebrated with music, singing, dancing and of course drinking. Family members will always try to delay any of their weddings till such a gathering, which inevitably leads to many more celebrations. It was decided long ago that involvement with the families of the other Disciples should be kept to a minimum, with the head and their successor being the only ones having any sort of contact during their travels. Any disagreements between the Disciples over the years, any fallings-out or difficulties that have taken place, Sam's family have never been directly involved, rather taking on the role of a sort of mediator.

Sam was born the first child of Arnold Dresden and his Danish lover, Parmona Nissen, whom Arnold had met many years ago and taken with him on his travels. It was Parmona's wish that Sam was born in Denmark, and so it was there they returned when the time was close, and it was the same for Sam's two younger brothers and his sister. His parents were married at one of the great family meetings when he was three. The Head Branch have always been the best travelled and most learned, with Sam being no different. Through his life he has been taken to remote Christian monastic societies, to deeply spiritual Hindu villages, hidden deep in remote India and to various Tibetan monk temples, learning all that there was to know about the spirit world and a mortal's connection with it. His father taught him temperance, compassion and understanding. He was never taught what to think, but always how to think. His mother imparted on him a sense of wanderlust, a desire to see, experience and travel the world.

Meditation, balance and a neutral outlook on the world have always been important, and Sam is no different. His skills range from expert herbalism, intense knowledge of the spirit world, master-level ability at the martial art Aikido and a broad range of understanding on numerous earthly matters. Though both of Sam's parents have since passed away, Sam has carried on just about all of the traditions. He is, however, even less involved with the other Disciples and whatever activities they take part in. His family have never had any stake in the mortal realm, and it is still the same name. Sam leads is branch of the family through many peaceful parts of the world, not wishing to cause them any stress. Though he was always reminded of his destiny and duty to the world, Sam has preferred to distance himself from the whole affair, protecting his family's sacred vow through a feeling of obligation to his ancestors rather than any strong convictions.

It wasn't until seven years ago, when word came to him at the Great Meeting in Turkey, that Sam reluctantly started to become more concerned with matters relating to the other Disciples. A feeling which started as slight unease started to become stronger and stronger within him. Through meditating and talking to willing spirits within the other realm, and finding things out through word from the other branches at the latest Great Meeting, Sam knew that something bad was brewing in their ancient land of origin, Japan. He had set off at once from the Great Meeting, arriving in the old country half a year before Habakiri mad her announcement. It seemed his feelings were well-founded. For the first time in many hundreds of years, the entire Hourou clan has been called back home. By now numbering well-into the higher hundreds, they are quite a noticeable presence.

Sam made himself known to all those Disciples still in Japan upon his arrival, especially to Habakiri. He has already told them that he will not surrender his family's weapon. In the meantime he has instructed his wider family to keep moving around Japan and not stay in one place, so as to try and keep them safe. But a feeling within him says that he might have need of their numbers soon enough.

    Name: Konno Mitsune
    Nickname/alias:
    Age: 25
    Gender: Female
    Nationality: Japanese
    Appearance:

Weapon*: Ten no Toge (Heavenly Thorn)

    Power:
Ha o Kae (Changing Blade)- the blade can become rigid like a sword, flexible like a whip, and while in whip form can vary it's length up to six feet at the will of the one who weilds it.

Kando (Sensitivity)- This power allows Mitsune the ability to influence another's tactile senses but she must be in physical contact with another to initiate it. It can be used to dull pain or increase the amount of pleasure one feels (which is what Mitsune prefers to use it for). It can also be used to seduce or coerce another but the effects only last as long as they are in physical contact. Unfortunately for Mitsune it requires the interaction of two souls so she can not use it on herself.

    Faction: Traitor

Personality: The Konno bloodline has a reputation for being whimsical and impulsive, Mitsune is no exception to this stigma. She is a very passionate and sensual woman, she has no prefference toward men or women and openly embraces her sexuality even in the most inappropriate times. She drinks often and is very hot-tempered, she is considered by her family to be the least disciplined descendant ever to weild the Ten no Toge although none can argue that her ferocious style of fighting is brutally effective.

History: The Konno bloodline was once a powerful clan in fuedal Japan but has since become more of a financial power. They have plenty of resources at their disposal, even some of questionable legality. Mitsune grew up mostly on her own, she was well trained of course and she wasn't ignorant of her duty. Although she is a well known martial artist and business executive she gathered more fame during her time as a model.

She spent her early years training and learning how to run a business, it wasn't until she turned seventeen that she decided to start modeling and her career skyrocketed. By the time she turned eighteen she had already been on the cover of several magazines and had a TV appearance. When she turned 20 however, her career as a model started to die down so Mitsune got bored and decided to return to her family trade until she found something else she wanted to do. She continued for some time to pursue different interests but always returning to the family business after she finished or became bored.

When Tsurugi approached Mitsune about her plan to take control of the masamune sword and use it to bring order to the world she was very skeptical but Tsurugi persisted. It took nearly a month of debate but Mitsune was finally convinced to join her cause. Mitsune believes that Tsurugi intends to bring peace and order to the world but doesn't realize just how far Habakiri is willing to go to get it.

    Name: Fujibayashi Kitsuya
Nickname/alias: Sasayai kage (The Whispering Shadow)
    Age: 25
    Gender: Male
    Nationality: Japanese
    Appearance:

    Weapon*:
Hebi wa yōshanai (The Relentless Serpent)
    Spoiler

The "Hebi wa yōshanai", or The Relentless Serpent, is a thin chokuto styled blade passed down through the Fujibayashi bloodline. The blade, though thin, is incredibly strong and devastatingly sharp. The blade was made to be remarkably fast for swift, precise slashes.

    Power:
    Camouflage
    - The wielder obtains the ability to camouflage himself with his surrounds; the slower he moves the more camouflaged he is, standing still makes him nearly invisible.

    The Serpents Vigor
    - The wielder taps into the prowess of a serpent; silent, swift and precise. Kitsuya is able to move quietly, as if gliding effortless around with hardly a sound; though his movements still produce sound they are so quiet that only someone with a high level of detection could hear him. He is swift, flaunting miraculous speed, agility and reactions. He is also precise, able to perform pinpoint maneuvers beyond that of your normal human.

    Faction: Traitor

Personality: Kitsuya is quiet, contemplative and constantly on alert. He was trained to never let his guard down, never let a weakness show. Above all else he was trained to seek power, become stronger; which made his decision to join Tsuguri and her plan to retrieve the Muramasa blade all that much easier.

History: The Fujibayashi clan has a vast Ninja history, being one of the first of few clans in the styles original creation. Fujibayashi clan during the war between Masamune and Muramasa played a vital role of stealth, espionage, and sabotage against Muramasa's evil forces. After the Muramasa blade was than sealed away and the disciples went back to their respective lives, the Fujibayashi clan took up refuge within the thick forest and mountainous region of Japan, their original home. The clan settlement is hidden extremely well within the forests surrounded by dangerously steep mountains and covered in booby-traps to keep unwelcome visitors away. The exact location is a well kept secret in the Fujibayashi clan, driven into their mattra that they would rather see death come to them before revealing the location of the clan.

The Fujibayashi clan is a devout clan focus on the disciplines of the Ninja Arts, without utter loyalty to the clan would mean ones death. Each child, boy or girl, would be thrown into tireless training within the following days after the child displayed the ability to walk and show cognitive responses, which was very loosely judged for actual cognitive responses. The children had no day off, no relaxation from their constant tyranny of their Elders as they molded them into well hardened killing machines of the night. Their bodies beaten only to heal and become stronger, their bones dense from constant damage and reforming of the calcium. With this tireless, relentless training most children died and it was merely thought of as "trimming away the fat" as the westerner's would say. they're life revolved around the ninja way, they understood nothing else. Their studies outside of physical training encircled the philosophy of the ninja. They were without regard of human life, they held cold eyes and unwavering determination when seeking out a kill. They were programmed to seek out power and obtain it to increase the strength of their Clan. Though their clan was like a family, an ecosystem of community working for a singular goal, they were taught if one held them back or died in a mission that they should be left for the clan had no room for failures.

Kitsuya's up bringing was no different, though being of the bloodline of the disciple of the Fujibayashi clan (for not all of the Fujibayashi clan were actually blood related, only a small handful actually were) he was focused on during training, giving him the smallest of slack even in this tyrannical system of training. But he excelled, he grew strong incredibly fast, having that bloodline burn proudly through his veins he was the epitome of his clan, even at a young age. At the age of twenty he was technically graduated from the academy, though in their belief one never stops learning and growing. He had proven himself worthy of inheriting the Hebi wa yōshanai, the chokuto of the Disciples. Now doing missions his true cold heartedness rang true, he was terrifying on the field of battle, he was a blur that only left the mist of crimson in his wake. Even his own comrades felt the chill of terror run up their spines. This continued for another five years until one day he was confronted by Tsurugi Habakiri, a woman of remarkable skill that Kitsuya truly admired. He listened to her speak, hanging on every word as she explained her goal. The cold stare lit up with excitement as the enticing allure of power tugged on the fabric of his soul. He immediately agreed, needing no time to think it over or finish listening to her reasoning. Now he has become a traitor to the Disciples under Tsurugi Habakiri's leadership, he was now her assassin that would lead from the shadow's towards her goal.

    Insert obligatory mysterious amnesiac.

Name: (does not know own name)
    Nickname/alias: Tonbo (Dragonfly)
    Age: 28
    Gender: Male
    Nationality: Japanese(?)
Appearance: A sharp, rectangular face sets Tonbo apart in Japan, if his length didn't already. His body is well-toned and work-strong like a labourer's. Tonbo's hair is bleached white (something some punks supposedly found funny) which contrasts with his shaggy facial hair. He is currently wearing rags he stole, an old cap to stop his hair from attracting too much attention and a cape that makes him look more like a vagrant than the descendant of a hero.

Weapon: Mumei (nameless.) It is not actually nameless, however Tonbo is unaware of it's name. The Mumei is a seemingly plain naginata, hard to distinquish from a mass-produced weapon. It has a long, wooden pole and a sharp curved blade, with no special inscriptions or anything. Yet, it is unquestionably a weapon of a greater quality than any smith nowadays could forge...

Additionally, Tonbo wields a (replacable) katana of no special properties and is capable of efficiently using firearms.

Power: Yūki (courage) indiscriminately and completely removes every single supernatural ability within direct vicinity, forcing both enemy and ally to rely on their skill alone. The only powers the Mumei has never been able to subdue were Mamasune's and Muramasa's.

    Faction: Traitor

Personality: Tonbo is a strange individual, not placing much value in his own person, but rather he places his believes in the concepts he takes a stand for. Tonbo is in search to find the path he must take, then to define it and then to take it. Nothing beyond has been planned. In other words; he is currently desperately searching for a goal.

When Tonbo does have a goal, it quickly becomes all-consuming. To this end Tonbo is direct, precise and ruthlessly efficient. He takes no joy in committing vile acts, but often considers them necessary. Tonbo is not without conscience, but it is willed away by repeating his goals to himself like a mantra. He tempers his own spirit through the use of alcohol; efficiently brainwashing himself.

History: Tonbo knows absolutely nothing of his life before his sixteenth. All that is known is that his instincts were sharp and his body was strong, beyond that of most men and that he just so happened to be used as a tool by yakuza. Considering the little direction he had, Tonbo did not question the purpose he was given and simply followed orders. He had no understanding of an alternative.

Although Tonbo spent much of his time as nothing but a grunt; when the superiors who kept him down got... 'Replaced', their 'replacements' were unaware of the in's and out's of the organisation. They had as much knowledge about Tonbo as he did about himself. As they saw potential in his simple and single-minded way of thinking and acting, the new bosses decided to reward him. Although the status did not do much for Tonbo, he accepted and learned to use the new tools he had to his disposal; people and money. Through observation, rather than empathy, he spent years studying how he could use these new tools.

One day, it was discovered the gang's territory had been infiltrated. The undercover agent was discovered and... 'Paid back' for his 'betrayal' but because none knew how much he had leaked, all evidence that could trace back to individuals affliated with the yakuza were to be disposed of. This is when Tonbo first laid hands on what his previous masters had been keeping from him for years; the Mumei. Although unaware of it's meaning, Tonbo felt a special bond with the weapon and smuggled it out of the 'disposal' to keep it for himself.

The weapon continued to fascinate Tonbo for years; even after his branch had been... 'Forcefully disbanded' and Tonbo lived off petty crimes. This bothered Tonbo; he had not found a new goal, so he spent all his energy in trying to understand the Mumei. But Tonbo was unable to trace back the Mumei's origin, nor it's special properties. Unlike other weapons, it did not break, it did not blunt, it did not rust. He questioned the obsession his former superiors had with this weapon and with him. It wouldn't be until he met his first ally that he would understand this weapon was his heritage, the blood of Masamune's disciple flowed through his veins and that the naginata was not actually nameless...

    Name: Stephanie Marie Jinx
    Nickname/alias: Shiroi bara (White Rose)
    Age: Twenty
    Gender: Female
Nationality: Canadian by birth, Japanese by ancestry.
    Appearance:

    Weapon:

A unique weapon handed down for generations. Daughter and son alike where trained to take care of the moving blade. Appearing as a long double pointed, double edged sword, the hilt has the ability (with the aid of quick release buttons) to slide along the sword's length, locking into place in one of the three catches, changing the range and use of the weapon in the blink of an eye. The blade itself stands at about five feet, the hilt taking up nearly a fifth of the length.

Power: As one may guess, Kuroku Ito has the ability to sweeten it's wielder's words, specifically when directed toward a specific person. Past owners have said that it is as though the blade speaks to them, informing the user about what those close want to hear. It chooses the best course of conversation and guides the wielder, allowing them to weave intricate and believable lies that only a fool would wish to doubt.

Kuroku gives the user the ability to create a lasting, moving image of themselves. Cast over the user, the image hides present motions with confusing and convincing displays of attacks or defense. The user, while hidden, can strike out without being seen. If the opponent sees the original Kuroku while it attacks, the image is shattered.

    Faction: Loyalist

Personality: Known to be selfish, Stephanie will do just about anything to further her obtain her goals. With a childish attitude, Stephanie will do nearly anything if it benefits her. She will however help others in need on one condition, they owe her something. A favor, an item, bait, whatever her need may be. Rare occasions have risen where Stephanie aids a man or woman because it was the right thing to do. Though she would rather forget these moments of weakness, believing they show she is weak, there is a corner of her mind that relishes the rush of doing something 'good.'

Apart from her selfishness, Stephanie is mostly pleasant to those around her. She emanates professionalism and attention to detail. Mind often thinking two decisions ahead, Stephanie is a formidable opponent. Though physically weaker than most martial artists, Stephanie relies on her speed, both in body, mind and her sharp tongue.

History: Stephanie's family once resided in Japan. Many generations prospered and grew in the country of rice fields. Two generations before Stephanie, her grandparents were affected by the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In the small city where they were born and raised, the old couple left the country with their daughter. Landing in Canada, they took up residence in Toronto, one of the busiest cites in the country. There, Stephanie's mother Hana, was raise and taught about her ancestry. Eventually Hana married Stephen Jinx and had a daughter of her own. Not only was Stephanie enrolled in martial arts near her entire life, she was also put hard to work with training at home. Between martial arts, schooling, and learning who she was, where she was from and what she was destined for, Stephanie had no room in her life for friends. Those she let close often pushed her away because of her rough attitude.

When Stephanie was ten, she was presented with her ancestor's sword, Kurōku Ito. From then on her life was focused completely on learning to use the blade to the best of her ability and the best of it's capability. Turning eighteen, Stephanie came to her own conclusion that she would use the power bestowed upon her from her sword to compel others to bend to her will, one by one they would serve her willingly. They would adore her and when she had a large enough force, she would start a coup to take over the Canadian government. This would be the first stepping stone to starting the next World War and with her victorious, she would be named Queen of all the nations. She wanted to rule everything and everyone. Until Stephanie heard of the plot to bring back Muramasa. This would not only bring about another age of cruelty and suffering but would also ruin Stephanie's own goal.

holly crap. 4 CSes already? I love you all.

first off guys. I like to mention that i typically maintain a strict first come first served policy. It's nothing personal, I've just had too many role pays die because i was waiting for people who had reserved a spot.

Same goes with the weapons, if yo make an incomplete CS with, say, a spear, and then someone comes along and makes a complete CS with a spear-using character before you have time to finish up yours, i will give the weapon to them (though, of course, i won't prevent you form simply swapping out your weapon to a similar trident or naginata).

now, balndman, I like what i see so far, if you can put in more details on him later that'd be great but right now i see you have all the essentials so I'll say he's accepted.

hikrai. Very nice character, since our girls share such a common backstory it'll be interesting to see how they get along. perhaps a previously established friendship as well? I would just like you to specify how long her weapon can stretch exactly, and i assume that it can only stretch when it's in its whip-like form? Other than that i see no problem with her

Generic. from what is there the character is interesting enough, and i was iffy about letting you have that style of blade since it resembles my girl's katana already, but i'll allow it. what i can't allow, however, if the void walking powers. I was going to give them to my own girl at first but I didn't because those just are far too OP in any rp setting, even in the hands of the most skilled players. It's nothing personal but i'll ask you to change it please. also, his second ability is too similar to tsurugis' silent step and as for the extra stuff, it's pretty much agreed upon that we are all at above-human levels of speed, dexterity and strength, being descendants of the disciples, no need to incorporate it in your powers unless you want your character to have stats that would be outright superhuman.

kestrel. I have to go to work now, so i won't be able to get to yorus just yet, but don't worry I will get to you soon

the problem with awesome roleplays is they attract awesome players, and the problem with having awesome players is they usually fuck up in awesome ways, and require awesome explanations to correct their awesome mistakes.

About the chokuto, though it is similar to the katana it is also different in its own sense. The blade is quite shorter than its Katana counter part which incorporates a different fighting style all together; that is why I thought it would be acceptable. Thanks for allowing me the use of it. The Fujibayashi clan is actually a historical Ninja clan.

Yeah, I assumed the Void Walking would be denied but I thought I might as well throw it out there to see but thats fine, I will change it. Now onto "The Serpent's Vigor" Though its similar to your characters soundless step its not the same as my movements aren't completely muted but his steps are light and precise and the sounds are diminished comparatively to lets say.... your average every day fighter. My character use a Ninja fighting style so I wanted him to focus on speed, precision and stealth. Serpent's Vigor is increase even further than the amount granted by being a Disciple, but not to a degree that makes him untouchable.

Credit goes to the wonderful Harbie-Chan!
