Veil of Night - Namelesshero and Kyux

In the dark corner, hiding in the corner of one's vision, lies the darkest of beings. Humans called those beings supernaturals. Yes, they're creatures that transcend normal common logic. Powerful beyond recognition, these creatures were mostly humanoids. No...some even originated from normal humans. People had known them since the beginning of time, but their presence was accounted only as myths, fictions told to children to make them behave.

Vampires. Werewolves. Two of the most popular creatures in the pop culture. Aside from them, faeries, mermaids, werebeasts. Something more canonical: angels, demons...all of them could be boiled down into one category:

    Supernatural beings.

It's unfair to call them evil; just like humans, some of them were white, some were black. There's no such convenience in this world. Something wasn't evil just for the sake of being evil. Even for those unbound by natural law, common sense still applied. They loved like human; they hated like human; they eat; they hunger for power; within their own ranks they struggled to be the one standing on the top. What differs them from humans, now?

Nothing. Which made them even more terrifying. And just like humans preyed on creatures weaker than them, those beings, too, preyed upon humans. Vampires drank human blood. In the process, those bitten turned into one themselves. Werewolves ate human meat. Those surviving their attack would turned into one themselves. Of course, those were the old times. Supernatural beings nowadays blended into society, obscured by the darkness of the night. They preyed in silence, only striking when necessary, yet little by little cemented their dominance upon human beings.

Such situation had persisted for ages. And ages. And ages. Of little numbers of human who knew their existence, the bravest created the Order. Their purpose was to exterminate these wretched beings once and for all. For as long as history goes, their effort gave minimal effects. However, things started to change.

The Vampire Covenant and the Werewolf Clan began to fight for supremacy, dragging the other supernatural beings into their war. Some pledged their loyalty to one side, while others remained neutral. Regardless, this situation brought chaos into their society. At the same time, more and more people grew aware of these beings' existence and joined the Order's cause.

The time of war had started, and one man led in the forefront. He's the one and only, the legendary hunter said to have brought the demise of the strongest Vampire Covenant in the far north. Yes, the one and only...

"We're ready to go, awaiting your command," one of his member remarked before leaving his room. The man smiled at the young's seriousness. He himself didn't put his position atop a pedestal; in a fight, they're still the same. Human beings.

He stood up and started his journey into the night once more. The moon was nigh; the hunt had begun.

Alexander Raphael Van Helsing strode forward into the silent city.

One shot. Two. Three. And a thud. The pale man was down in seconds,as the three bullets soaked in holy water pierced through his chest, finding their way out through his heart. The smoke coming out of the pretty small shotgun was blown off by a pair of reddish lips, that soon enough turned into a smirk.

"Two down, no more to go~." The woman smirked as she tucked her shotgun into the case on her belt, and glanced at the ashes that were left from the two vampires she just killed with a delighted smile. Oh how she hated those creatures. Not like most people, she didn't hate all of the inhuman creatures, no, just those vampires. Those horrible creatures of the night. Of course, there was a reason for that hatred, but that is to be found out later.

As the woman started to walk off she couldn't help but feel someones presence. Fearing it was another vampire, she rushed to hide behind one of the tall buildings as she peeked out to dare and see who was standing there.

A long hait. Dark black hair, and this coat. This famous coat of his. She grit herteeth slightly when she recognized the person as she felt her stomach nearly flip out. Frowning a bit she sighed in a slight relief and thengave hima cold, but yet quick stare. The two used to be comrades. Allies. Now, he was less than a stranger to her. She passed beside him as he walked, not looking towards him nor saying a word, hoping he would do the same.

Vampires. The Ruler of the Night. Aside from their biggest rival, the Werewolves, they're the strongest faction currently fighting for supremacy in the "Underworld". Led by the Vampire King's Ancient Covenant, the gathering of Vampires across the globe had united to fight against the Werewolves' leader, the Moonlight Clan. It was a matter of time until the big shots clashed against each other. Each side was trying to gain more allies at the moment.

As Vampires preyed on human bloods, they're dangerous for the survival of humankind. Thus, Vampires had been one of major target for Hunters since age long past. Van Helsing's Order of the Godhand, to be precise, considered their existence as one of the main priority, aside from the Werewolves. The creature of the Night had insane physical abilities surpassing that of normal human. Some of the strongest could even utilized a corrupted form of Magic, the power to create miracles defying the law of nature. It was said that the King could do this, but it was only a rumor as only a few had ever seen the King in person. Van Helsing, to tell the truth, would like to have another meeting with that "King". In the past...let's just say that they've had their differences, and some blood had been spilled.

The Vampires' powers and weaknesses are, surprisingly, depicted rather accurately by pop culture stories. Contrary to popular belief, though, Sunlight doesn't kill them directly. However, the sensation of burning was said to be strong enough to make them feel as if they were dying. It was enough for them to wish to be killed immediately, rather than suffering the fate of being burned alive, unable to die yet tortured endlessly.

To fight such monstrosities, humans had relied on technologies; these days their equipments were getting more and more elaborate. Alarms could detect Vampires moving at insane speed. Modified projectile weapon could hurl stakes instantly with deadly accuracy. Holy water bullets and grenades. Combine them all with teamwork and well-planned assault, it's no wonder that ordinary Vampires could be brought down easily.

"This way. The Alarms went off in that direction..." one of his subordinates guided Van Helsing through the dark corridor. The street at night was menacing, but it was everyday's work of these kind of people. The Order of the Godhand. Chosen people trained to fight the monstrosities known as supernatural beings. In the center of them was the man, Alexander Raphael Van Helsing. Even now he personally led his team against the potential enemies.

"Strange...they should be near...wait, who's that?" the team readied their weapons, pointing the sharp end of the stakes toward a figure in the darkness. Van Helsing's trained eyes, however, could spot the woman faster than his subordinates.

"At ease, guys. It's our friend...apparently," he chuckled at the sight of Anne Nova. They went back in history...not a too-pleasant history, though. The woman passed without saying anything, instilling the anger of Van Helsing's men. He, however, calmed them down with a raise of his hand.

"Not stopping for a cup of tea, Anne?" the man's heavy voice sung throughout the night sky. "I've got a famous brand from China, a gift from Father Jornaugh. A warm cup could thaw the coldest heart."

On his last words his eyes flicked with naughty lights. Forever a tease.

Oh he just couldnt let her go quietly. No. Then she'd probably think he was ill , it was just his nature. She turned her head to his direction grinning slightly as she noticed how alert his men was." Calling yourself prestigious hunters? Afraid of a young harmless woman." She spoke calmly before turning her worda to him. "'im afraid i cant stay... Though it dosent seems like im loosing anything , it didnt work for you so theres no reason it will for me. " She replied with venom in her tone. She shared pure hatred to this man. Though even if she did, she still missed him but her egk wont allow her to admit it. Not even to herself.

The two once hunted togethet. Most creatures knew the pair very well. And were afraid of them, however an unfortunate event have broke them apart.

She was about to leave when she herd a quiet stomp. Swiftly, her shotgun soon was in her hand and one shot was released towards the direction the sound came from. A furry little creature rushdd away passing right next to her. Anna gasped and stumbled backwards nearly falling on her old comrade. Out of reflec she grabbed to his arm to stop her from falling when suddenly she was surrounded by his men, pointing their guns at her.

Annes cheeks turned reddish from embarassment as she stood up swiftly clearing her throat. She grabbed to one of the guns and moved it away sharply with a groan : " get that thing out of my gace."! She then watched the man move away a bit.

Still the cold one, he thought to himself. Van Helsing knew the woman. A bit too well for his own sake. She's just the hardest type to "conquer". What he could give was only a defeated sigh as she rejected his offer with rather venomous tongue. It's not her fault; things were just not good between them.

And then she shot out of nowhere. Something went past them, throwing her off balance. The result was her stumbling backward to him, by which he swiftly caught her out of reflex. When she caught his arm to hold, though, his men overreacted and pointed their guns on her.

Not good. Just as he'd predicted, she became angry. "Now now, forgive my men. We've been in tight spot lately, what with those Vampires and Werewolves wreaking havoc all night. We've been sending them non-stop for the past few days, they haven't got any chance to sleep more than two hours," he gave her a playful wink. "Anyway...a hunter can never get enough rest in their life. Like you, like me. Never a moment's rest. Right?"

He suddenly pulled out his short, sawn-off shotgun and pointed it into the dark corridor behind him and his team. The rest of his men followed suit. He was one second faster than the thing which suddenly jumped to his face, which was killed by the merciless bullet from his weapon.

Something furry fell to the ground. The form of a cat, it melted into indistinguishable pile of black goo. More hissing sound could be heard from the dark corridor as the red lights emanating from their demonic eyes appeared one by one.

"Demons in the form of cats...so those wretched beings had started to enter our world too?" More of them jumped out, their movement was a blur as they're faster than normal human's eyes. In response, Van Helsing threw several flask to the ground. The water splashing out put them to a halt. Although holy water wasn't lethal to demons, they hated it to utmost extent. The split second was enough for the hunters to retalliate.

Sound of bullets shot and arrows thrown echoed in the dark night. Each felled opponent melted and disappeared in an instant.

"How about helping us?" Van Helsing called out to Anne. "My offer for the tea still stands, you know?"

Anne dusted off her clothes and then sighed as his men retreated a bit, turning their guns away from her. She took a deep breathe and sighed, then, she couldn't help but notice as the man in charge shot off a small cat. She was about to say something when she saw a lot of them running towards the group.

"Demons?" She narrowed her eyes slightly confused and then pulled out a revolver grinning slightly. She loaded it with special bullets that were soaked in holy water. Sure, the holy water itself didn't kill them, but it hurt them, and she was more happy than ever to hurt them as much as she could.
The demons were fast sure, but thanks to Vans flasks, she could see them better, she'd never admit it though.

Then as swiftly as she could, she started shooting towards the feline-like creatures, a few dozen shots were herd, from hers and from her old parthners gun, and finally, after a few minutes, there was nothing left but the same black goo.
Anna smiled softly to herself and felt a bit relieved cause she just ran out of bullets. She tucked back her revolver and then glanced at the taller man. "Well and my answer didn't cha--" She then swiftly pulled her gun out and shot right beside the mans ear, as a soft screech was herd from the smallkitten demon that manage to escape their shower of bullets.

"Didn't change." she said calmly and sighed, tucking her gun back to her belt. She didn't know why she shot the demon. He could do it alone, right? Probablly just a reflex.

As swift as ever, he thought. It's been quite a while since he'd seen her, but the skill and speed was still the same. Better, if he could say so. "Well, that's a shame. I was hoping to get together with you and take care of...the problems between us. I'll just wait for another chance then," he flicked his finger, ordering his men to stand ready. "We're leaving. Perhaps Lady Luck would smile to us in another day..."

"...Right, Dimitri?" he whispered to no one in particular. The voice was intended toward someone standing up above the building roof, looking down on them with his emotionless eyes. The moment those words left Van Helsing's mouth, he'd disappeared into the darkness of the night.

"I'll see you again then, my dear Anne," Van Helsing whistled. "May our God bless you."

Still humming the cheery tunes, he led his men away from the dark corridor.

Anne folded her arms as she glanced towards the direction he went to. Gone. Like always. even when they worked together he did that, all the time. She sighed, not realizing she actually missed it. Running a hand through her hair she pouted and then looked around. Alone again, wonderful. Throwing her hands to the sides of her body she kept walking, her boots pass through the dark goo puddles that were left from the small creatures. Frowning she looked down. It was still dark, she'd better go back home.

Well, home wasn't exactly home, it was what was left from it. She used to live there with her ... friend until whatever happened between them did happen, and he left her the place. it was the least he could do. She dropped herself on the ruined couch and lifted her boots up on the small coffe table, looking around.

"You're home? Awesome!" Suddenly a small kid ran towards Anne, hugging to her tightly. The little boy shared resmblence with Anne, he was her sonafter all. Anne smiled softly at the kid and kissed him softly."Yes hun, did you eatanything today Willy?" She asked and then picked the boy up. He wasn't old, maybe like five or six, surely not old enough to be left home alone, but it wasn't like she could take the boy with her to hunt deadly monsters... Right?

    I. Fang Arc

    Run. Run. Faster. Faster.

In the black night its figure stood out easily. The white blur passed through the darkness like a stride of light, swivering around obstacles without difficulties. Its breath, however, grew shorter and shorter. It had been a long time since it had started running. Its pursuers were still behind, stubbornly trying to catch up to it.

The sceneries had since long changed. From the clear water of a pristine lake to the sea of forest greeneries until the gray concretes of man-made structures. How far had it gone? Maneuvering the maze made by Men, it stopped a bit before the street turned to the main road. Bathed with artificial lights, the night was non-existant in this city. It didn't want to risk being seen; a wolf such as it would be hunted in an instant.

It jumped up. Up. Up. Quickly it reached the rooftops. The feat cost it the last of its breath. However, it didn't want to risk getting caught. It forced its four legs to give their all, pumping every last adrenaline to drive them forward.

Its vision blurred. It couldn't move any farther, yet it kept on going. Going. Going. Finally its legs gave away, and down it went, falling to the merciless concrete soundlessly. It whimpered.

Its keen ears caught wind of two voices. A woman. A small voice, likely of a boy. However, it couldn't know whether its guess was true or not. It closed its eyes and gave up to exhaustion.

On that place was no longer the wolf. Rather, there was a teenage girl. Her hair, however, was the color of snow...

Suddenly the little boy, William, gasped and yelled out quietly, holding onto his mother."M-Mom! something fell from the sky!" He exclamied. Anne snickered slightly as she picked up the little boy, sure that he just imagined something, however, she did go to the window, just to show him there was nothing, but the boy was right! She saw a young girl, hair white as snow, laying on the cement. She gulped and then rushed to wear her boots in a slightly sloppy way, well, just to hurry, as she took the kid in one hand and rushed downstairs glancing at the woman.

She was no ordinary girl... No human had this hair color... Frowning a bit, Anne looked around and then sighed, feeling now obligated to take her... If anything she'd just kill her.. Right? Right. She picked the girl up, she wasn't to havy, not for a woman who trained with VanHelsing that is. So, one hand with her child, the other with the girl, she carried both up the elevator and then placed them both down on the couch as they entred.

She went to the kitchen and took a glass of cool water. In the meantime, William walked closer to the girl and smiled a bit to her."Hello?" He waved in front of her face and poked her nose.

"William don't go near her!" Anne yelled from across the kitchen to startle the little boy. She couldn't know what this girl, whoever she was will do..
