The demon didn't look at her in the eye. His attention was eternally focused on the west horizon, where various casino buildings stood erect challenging the endless sky. Black flame jolted in and out of his body from time to time, but mostly were mere fragments, taking a normal human's eyes severe concentration just to notice them. Thus was the extend of his demonic power in this human realm. "Toward the land where the Sun sleep. To the Golden Fleece he was taken. You'll best be on your way. Those are half-angels, a most rarity amongst half-breed. They might wield angelic power, but ultimately, they are still humans," Dimitri's expression grew dim upon mentioning them. "...foolish, like humans wont to be."
He leapt away from the destroyed building, leaving Anne behind.
======
The Casino Golden Fleece had a long history in Vegas. First built at 1984, it has survived among turbulent times and thrived to be one of the biggest gambling center in the entire state. The "Angels" had brought William to this place, unconscious from their power. They held him in a V.I.P. room, where no one would question what they were doing at the moment. There were four of them, two was known quite well by Anne; Joseph, and the one posing as father Albin. William was laid sleeping on a couch. Albin kept watch on him.
"We should kill him now," one of them raised his voice. His head was bald, and a runic tattoo fashioned his arm.
"He's a half-breed. You can say that his fate is the same as ours. Not to mention he's still a kid..." another one replied. His voice was soft. With long, flowing hair and feminine face, he could be easily mistaken as a woman.
"He's the son of the Vampire King! Are you saying that you don't want to take revenge on him, Jacob?"
"I didn't say that," Jacob shook his head lightly. "What I want to say is that we should keep him alive as bait. That's the plan, right, Hamash? Don't do anything unnecessary. Finding his son dead would only make him filled with rage. This way, we can threaten him..."
"I agree with Jacob," Joseph interrupted, "William is more valuable being alive than dead."
"...fine, do as you wish," Hamash, the bald one, finally gave up on convincing them.
"Good. Now, we'll just have to wait for lady Ishtael..." Joseph smiled when saying that name. Ishtael. They met her unexpectedly on this street of Vegas a few months ago. A real Angel, one who'd descended from Heaven and blended with humans. She was the one who encouraged them to take this act against the Vampire King. "Once she arrived, we'll finally know what to do next."
