Thread: BIG NEWS: Upgrading the forum. (Downtime incoming!)

    Basically, we were going to upgrade from vBulletin 3 to vBulletin 4. But we really don't like the direction vBulletin went down, especially after trying out vBulletin 5 (currently in beta).

    So Contra and I are looking into possibly upgrading to similar forum software called IPBoard (Invision) which is another popular forum platform.

    It'll take us a moment to assess our options, and I don't have an estimation. I'll post an update with our decision as it happens.

    I also have no time to work on this during the week, so I can only make progress during weekends.

    So far, the test server is running the new version of the Guild. I'm just working on skinning it to replicate the look and feel of the Guild as you know it.

    It's sort of a tedious process, but I'm almost done.

    I also have some people testing it, and I'm watching their performance footprint as they romp around like hooligans.

    I'll soon feel comfortable running the upgrade process on the production server.

    Alright, opened the forum back up. We tried to replicate our old skin on the new forum software. We're still working out some kinks, and we're aware of most of the display related issues.

    Things may also load slower until I finish working on the cache system.

    If you notice anything that's functionally broken though, please PM me.
