    Fallout: The Vast Wasteland


    War...War never changes. The end of the world went as it was predicted. The population of the globe grew at an alarming rate, with the increasingly sparse natural resources fought over by bickering nations, wars being sparked over oil, iron and fertile soil alike. Nuclear energy was both the primary power source and the greatest weapon in every nations' arsenal. Europe fell apart first, tearing the Middle East to shred in their desperation, before falling upon each other. The Cold War between America and China turned hot, and the world burned in nuclear fire.

    Yet, in spite of all this, life found a way, life continued. People across the world survived by hiding in secure shelters such as the Vaults built by the American government, or by finding places sheltered from the fallout. Fauna and flora alike were mutated by the radiation, and rains were scarce and few in many parts of the world, but life still struggled on. As people left their shelters, they fell prey to human nature, forming new settlements and dwelling places, towns, cities, factions, some built out of the ruins of the old, some built entirely new structures.

    And as is human nature, they formed new conflicts as well. Some were based in age old prejudices, others in more modern causes such as territory or resources. Some were fought with sticks and flint, others with lasers and power armor.

    Because no matter what comes to pass, war...war never changes.




    Charon is one of the very few cities in the Vast Wasteland. It has many apartment buildings and casinos and in the center of it is a big open plaza where traders and caravans come to sell their wares. What you can find in Charon is just about anything if you know where to look. Mr. Florence, a big shot in the city of Charon, handles most of the trade that comes in and out of Charon. He is like the mayor of the city. He is rich and fat, living a luxury life in his big tower. He has a score of contacts and informants so he is up to date with nigh every little rumor and dealings in Charon and the surrounding area.
    Mr. Florence recently received info about a special and secret Vault within a city that had been one of the main focuses of the nuclear war. The city is swimming in radiation and swarming with mutated abominations. He sends his people to hire mercenaries and other capable folk for the dangerous expedition.

    CS rules:
    1-No power armor unless it is in serious repair.
    2-Special mutations (if a mutant) must be PMed first.
    3-No GodMod.
    4-No infinite ammo. You begin with at most 10 clips with Primary fire arm and 3 with secondary. Energy Weapons should preferably be discussed via PM aswell.

    RP info: This is not a pure Fallout RP. This is my take on the fallout universe so characters and even locations will most likely not appear. If I decide to make this a part of the canon then it will happen long after New Vegas. Races that are not in the games may appear and if you have something special in mind then PM me the request.

    Brown hair, emerald green eyes. His outfit is black and blue. Platinum Emblem on his hat. Pale skinned and feminine frame.

    Outfit/ Armor: His apperance for the most part as well as his bulletproof vest.
    Equipment: Purified water. Lockpicks. An old usable PipBoy. Stempacks. And a keyring with his house keys.
    Weapon: He has a silenced 9mm pistol and a combat knife.

    Skills: Matabolism ( Small regeneration over time). CQC ( Close Quarters Combat. He can sometimes disarm enemies with it or flip them on their back, nothing too fancy) He is steady with hand guns and sub-Machine guns. Sneaking skills and higher perception.

    Bio: He was born in the wasteland but was adopted by Bramin ranchers that lived a few miles out of the city. His adoptive father knew things about surviving in the waste and often tried teaching him new things. Eventually he had to leave the small live stock ranch to adapt to city life when he was old enough. On his 15th birthday he recieved basic training and was recruited by a group of mercinaries. By time he was 16 he had just bought his first home. He eventually recieved news his adoptive family was killed by Raiders. This upset him, he even discontinued his mercinary work just to settle in his home.

    Known weaknesses: He is pyrophobic for he is weak against flames. Insects scare him as do Deathclaws make him panic. He is incapable of Big guns. Two handed weapons are too a burden. He is incapable of pushing too heavy of objects. He lacks physical straighnth. Matabolism takes alot of time to heal broken bones. Loud noises irradiate his ears and give him bad migraines, thus lack of efficient focus. Has ADHD.

    Bio: Eli used to be part of the Talon Company mercenaries. After a dispute with them about a year back, he was chased off by his fellow mercenaries, and wound up in New Vegas. He set up a small living area in an abandoned building in Freeside, and lived there for about 3 years. One day, as he was sitting in The Tops, gambling away all his money, a man approached him. He told him to go to a city known as "Charon" and seek out a man named "Mr. Florence". Eli thought about it for awhile, and finally decided that he needed to get away from the city. He hoped that this new job was exactly what he needed to bring him back into humanity. He grabbed his rifle, his pistol, and his trusty knife, and set out for Charon.

    Appearance: Mason has shoulder length, light brown hair that matches the colour of his thick stubble. He stands at an evenly proportioned (yet fairly lankily built) 5'11". He bears many scars and scrapes from the times when survival in the wasteland went down to the wire.
    For example, he has one scar on the back of his right hand that stretches from the base of his index finger to the base of his thumb where he was slashed by a raider. Another on his neck (that just barely missed the artery) from when he was mauled by a ghoul.
    Then there's his favourite, a bullet wound that went through his left shoulder from a scrape with an NCR deserter.

    Outfit/Armor: Leather armour, scuffed and a little worn, but the best Mason has ever had.

    Equipment: One crude water skin, three flares, one doctors bag, one weapon repair kit and a crowbar (doubles as a weapon, but mostly used for utility purposes)

    Weapons: On one hip rests a weathered 38 police special, and on the other an equally weathered sawn-off shotgun. Both weapons have little ammo (around eight shells a twenty-four bullets), but are about the only thing Mason relies on in the wastes, as both weapons perform remarkably well despite how they look.

    Skills: Guns, Survival, First Aid, Repair, Barter

    Bio: Mason was born to the same Darkwaters that became famous with Killian Darkwater, Mayor of Junktown and owner of it's General Store. His tale survives as being the man who helped the legendary Vault Dweller on his quest to save Vault 13.
    By the time Mason was born, the Darkwaters (generations apart from Killian) had already lost Junktown to the Khans, and then again to the NCR when it was liberated. The Darkwaters had made a new home in Freeside by then, but Mason grew to find more fun in exploration and unquenchable nomadic tendencies.
    His parents both died of natural causes when he was young (those natural causes being radiation and deathclaw) and Mason was left to fend for himself.

    He found work and shelter as a caravaneer's apprentice but found the lifestyle to rigid to allow him to enjoy the traveling and longed to see more of the world around him, even if it was just wasteland.
    He took to the life of a drifter, living day to day off of bartered goods and dodging enemies (if he couldn't fight them, of course). He learnt to fix himself and his equipment up with things he had scavenged and made a name for himself as an armed escort for caravans or individuals. He left that life behind after experiencing too many deaths, and losing too many of what he would call friends (even a lover) and resolved himself to the life of a drifter once more.

    It was only until so recently that he found himself at the gates of Charon (abandon all hope, he sneers) after a seemingly too convenient tip from a stranger in another town.
    Mason had never happened upon a vault before, at least not an open one.

    Appearance: Jacob stands a evenly proportioned man if not a tad on the solid side. His face bears one long scar from his hairline to jaw where a raider tried to take his rifle a few years back. His once icy blue eyes have glazed over with the time he's spent in the Waste Land, walking the Roads East and West. His body is covered in scars from bullet wounds, claw marks, to a large gash down his left leg from a near death encounter with a Death Claw.
    Outfit/Armor: Jacob wears simple Merc Grunt gear, rounded off with a pair of sunglasses that hang around his neck.
    Equipment: 4 Stim Packs (one auto injecting), 3 Med-X, 2 Hydra, 2 full water canteens, 3 rad away and one Rad-X remain from his original stock piles.
    Weapons: a Laser Rifle with iron sights, a combat knife, and a barely used 10mm SMG
    Skills: Energy Weapons, Science,Repair, Melee, Guns.
    Bio:Jacobs was born to a pair of BoS Paladins and was raised to be a Defender of his Chapter. At 17 he was already being groomed for head Paladin, at least until he was caught with an outsider just outside the Bunker. To this day he claims he never new the Girl was an NCR spy, but the Elder wouldn't have any of it, and the night before he was supposed to be executed he was broken out, given his rifle and told never to return.
    Since then Jacob has taken on many names, jobs, and picked up a few more talents. Though mainly he wanders between towns, fixing what he can either with his hands or putting a round into a raider, while making sure no dangerous pre-war tech falls into the wrong hands.
    He still doesn't know why he walked to Charon, or why he said yes to breaking into a Vault, but with a little grin he patted his rifle and hoped he'd be able to get some of the Laser Rifle Mods he'd been eyeing in the market after this job.

    Desert Ranger Combat Armour, though it's in bad repair. Bandages/wraps are around the lower forearms, and the hem of the long coat is torn and burned. THe stencilling of numbers, and 'NCR' has been crossed out or scratched through. A large red rose has been painted on the back of the jacket, somewhat roughly.
    mid-calf length boots replace the combat boots.

    Wears a face wrap to cover her lower face against dust and the like, and a Cattleman Cowboy hat. Sometimes wears goggles to protect against dust, etc. Uusally carries a backpack for other items.

    Bio:
    Cassandra - or Cass, as she prefers to be known - enlisted in the NCR army after her village was attacked by a band of Raiders over the course of months. When the NCR Rangers arrived, driving the Raiders away with an impressive show of force and skill, and began bringing the village a better quality of life.
    Seeing the Rangers struck a chord within the young, impressionable woman, and when she was old enough, she joined the NCR army.

    Cass was singled out as a 'backward country dirt-farmers' girl', coming from the far outskirts of the NCR. Her beauty didn't help either - the showoffs and the flits singled her out, and determined to earn her mark as a soldier and a Ranger, she shot them all down. This earned her plenty of enemies.
    Despite these hardships throughout her time in training, she dug her heels in, and stubbornly refused to give up, pushing herself through training to eventually become a soldier.
    Her term of service showed an aptitude for combat, her skills in living off the land and tracking coming in handy when tracking Raiders and others throughout the wide expanses of the Wasteland. All the same, she maintained an individual streak, and a distance from her comrades. Still, she was hazed, bullied and harassed by her colleagues and comrades, their dismissal of her eventually turning to hatred and cruelty.
    Finally, after a vicious defeat at the hands of a Legion patrol, the squad turned on her to exorcise their frustrations, blaming her for their failings. She lashed out in self-defence, and severely wounded her commander, who hadn't raised a hand to stop the others.
    While the truth eventually came out to her superiors, she chose to leave the army in disgust, rather than continue with rumours murmured behind her back.

    She went through a number of professions for a short time, drifting into the Mojave and acting as a prospector throughout the desert ruins. She indulged her curiosity to explore, and while short of caps and with no real roots, she enjoyed the carefree life.
    One day while exploring the ruins of some long-forgotten building complex, she came across a wounded Courier. She got him well enough to get back to safety, and in thanks - and due to his wounds forcing his retirement - he made a gift of his armour. He also turned over his pistol to her, and she followed his lead, and last note: Head to Charon.

    Winding up at the gates of the big city, it felt like a new start for her, and the beginning of something big.
    Amidst the blue skies, a link from past to future, the sheltering wings of the protector. . .

    Bio: A pretty standard childhood for the wastes, born in Shady Sands, he was brought up by a father who had served several tours of duty in the Army. he joined up when he was old enough and served a tour of duty in a campaign against the Enclave. after his second tour, in the Mohave during the first battle of Hoover Dam, he transfered to the Rangers and partook in several engagements with the Legion, as well as running covert missions deep behind enemy lines. after about 10 years in the Rangers, he was given Veteran status. his first mission was to head across America to the Capitol Wasteland and to scout and secure data on the major powers along the way, then find the Pentagon and use the resources to find any possible weapon caches from before the war and report all findings to HQ. the top brass will then send out search parties for them and decide what to do about the Wasteland, trying to capture it if possible as it will serve as a symbol of power for the NCR.

    He travelled by Motorbike, but near the ruins of Lincoln, Nebraska, he ran into the Brotherhood of Steel who managed to damage his motorbike, and he was forced to ditch it, taking everything he could with him as he retreated. he continued on and made it about half-way across Iowa. When he found the town and found a way to communicate with HQ. They told him to find another Vehicle and report back when he found one. He found a mechanic that had built a fully working Jeep, but said that it would cost quite a few Caps. So for the moment he is working odd-jobs around the town, Law Enforcement, Mechanic work... just trying to save up the caps to buy the Jeep so he could continue on his mission. He has now been approached by Mr Flourence's men who asked him to be a part of the expedition to find the Vault. they offered to pay him well, so he agreed.
