Horizon Apartments. Rooms Vacant: None. Care to apply?
So in my time on this site I've involved myself in and come across plenty of slice of life roleplays - whether they be a classic High School or College setting or strangers living together in a house. The extent and range of what slice of life has to offer is huge but there's a large problem - they last a ridiculously short time. People just disappear and then other characters can't be involved because their main links were to the character whom just disappeared. And also a majority of the time the posts become short and sloppy, barely advancing the story at all.
The problem is I do love a slice of life roleplay and it's a terrible shame they always die so soon because there really is a good opportunity for character development and interaction. So again I find myself setting up yet another reality roleplay but this time I'd really like to make the biggest effort at maintaining it. If you are interested please make sure you're a regular poster (not every hour but a fairly consistent post speed would be nice) and are capable of writing a good amount of text that advances both the story and character. Grammar and literate skills would be wonderful and I would class what I expect here as very high casual. The only reason I am not moving this to Advanced is because I feel a larger amount of people browse this section and I know even though people say they are not capable of writing extensive amounts, with the right inspiration they are. Of course spelling mistakes happen and so does writing block and holidays but it is possible to move through them.
Thanks for reading and mainly I hope if you join you'll have great fun.
If you managed to read this, please write 'Picking up the keys' somewhere in your CS. (:
Swearing and sexual references are absolutely fine, just don't be ridiculous and excessive. Respect others too.
"Welcome to Horizon Apartments, constructed and finished in the year 2003. Since then we've had a number of applicants come and stay with us but for a multitude of reason they've moved on to other places. So, you must have seen our apartments now vacant sign in the paper. Or maybe online or maybe a friend told you...oh heck, what does it matter, apply for a place for one of our wonderful apartments now."
Horizon Apartments are a set of housing blocks situated on the outskirts of the city of London. They're not exactly Five star but you definitely couldn't call them slums. Perhaps that's the reason they're ideal for those just starting off in the world. Whether it be that you've just graduated from university and you're low on funds or have just got that new job and aren't exactly rolling in the dough, Horizon is possibly ideal. With four rooms and a roof over your head you couldn't ask for much more. With London's bustling lifestyle and world of opportunities close by, it's like your future is practically at your doorstep.
The Horizon residency has several living compartments on a number of floors which consist of a living room, a bathroom, a bedroom and a kitchen and most of all a variety of people. Who knows who you could meet and best of all they could be just metres away.
Perhaps you could call this plot a little something like Friends, Happy Endings or New Girl....or practically any other sitcom or programme that features a group of people together in one living area. I want good and motivational interactions that don't border on boring. New people. New place for you perhaps? All that excitement.
The picture above represents the look of the building, it's just quite hard to find the picture I want with four floors.
So if you're still with me here, why not make a CS and help us dive in. Looking for about six people beside myself to do this.

Room One: Gavin O'Neil. (PXW)
Name: Gavin O’Neil
Occupation: Musical Instrument Tuner/Repairman/Clerk at a music supply store
Hobbies: Playing any sort of musical instrument, goofing off with friends, video games, riding bikes, improv comedy, eating, watching TV, picking up the keys.
Relationship Status: Single. (Ladies.)
Personality: Gavin, in general, is a bright, high-energy sort of fellow who lives to laugh and make others laugh. When it comes to judging people he’s sharp as a tack, but he’s clueless in the purer sciences. He tends to put his heart and soul into everything he does, so when things go bad he can get pretty devastated. But, ever the optimist, he keeps on marching. He loves people of all kinds and can get along with anyone, save for the most argumentative of types.
Mannerisms: He’s always tapping something. Foot, finger, whatever. When he’s nervous he hums. He can’t sleep without the TV (or something) on.
Clothing Style: He’s a t-shirt and jeans type of guy.
Biography: ~coming soon~
Education History: High school degree, a year of junior college, and a couple years of instrument-fixing apprenticeship.
Interesting Facts: His favorite instrument is the ukulele. His favorite animal is the jellyfish. His favorite food is bacon. His favorite color is orange.
Room Two: Hayashi Katsuo. (Zamokra41)
1.73 m tall, normal build, bright brown longish hair, dark brown eyes, slightly pale skin
Concept Artist for Game company in London (Gameloft)
Drawing and painting be it digital or on canvas.
Reading, prefers fantasy novels or manga.
Katsuo is a friendly and kind person, the sort who would give you the shirt off his back during a rainstorm, though he has a bit of a hard time fully trusting people. He is more of a listener especially now that he arrived in a far away country and is still trying to understand the language, he can understand (or guess?) the subject of a discussion but he takes his sweet time when wanting to say something and would often ask 'how do you say this and that' or 'does this mean this or that' and so on. While he may seem a little anti-social at times, once you get to know him you will discover that he is a good friend to have.
He would often scratch the back of his head and smile when feeling nervous or awkward.
He bites his lower lip sometimes when focused on a task at hand.
When meeting new people he will often avoid eye contact.
Usually he wears a pair of worn baggy jeans and a shirt(not T-shirt) of a darker color. When needed he would wear a full light-gray suit with a black undershirt and a red tie. There are two things he never seems to change, his shoes are always sneakers or skate-shoes and he wears(ALL THE TIME) a small wooden amulet around his neck with a thin silver chain and the engraving of a kanji on the wooden piece.
Katsuo was born in a small town in Japan, his father a stern but just imposing man and CEO of a marketing company, his mother a travel agent hellbent on her children growing up with the best education and achieve something great in life. Since he was little Katsuo was attracted to art, drawing, painting, sculpting, everything seemed like an amazing experience and a new world to him. Being often busy with the company, his father hardly spent much time with him thus he was left with his mother and her strict ways of raising a proper child. When he managed to gather up the courage of telling his parents that he wishes to go to an art college and eventually become an artist, his mother was adamantly against it as she viewed most artists as 'non-profitable' wishing her son would follow in his father's footsteps and eventually become CEO of his company. Through much arguing and convincing he managed to get his father's approval and was one step closer to his dream. During his college years he met Matsumoto Yuuki, the love of his life and confessing his feelings to her was probably the hardest thing he has done up to date, imagine his relief and joy when she said she felt the same. The two have been together since that day and things really looked up to Katsuo when he got a post as a concept artist at a small gaming company after he graduated. However, the company he worked for soon was out of business and Katsuo had to look for work, eventually finding a post that would suit him perfectly. The pay was fair, the work conditions were good, he met the standards, the only problem is that this post would require him to relocate all the way to London. Reluctant at first since it would mean that he has to leave his family, friends and Yuuki behind, Katsuo did not have much choice as this was the only post he could find in his line of work. His father managed to find a decent place for him to stay and even paid for his flight along with giving a small sum to get a decent start in a new country, all Katsuo had to do was go and pick up the keys. His mother was very upset with him and his choices in life and didn't even came to see him off at the airport. His father on the other hand told him that he was proud to see his son carving his own path in life. Before leaving, Yuuki gave him a gift, a small wooden amulet with the engraving of the kanji for Jihi (compassion) as a memento and a promise to be reunited. Katsuo's goal is to do a god job during his stay in London so he will achieve sufficient 'profession experience' to get a post at a big gaming company in Tokyo and return home. Right now, this strange new country will prove to be quite the experience.
Art & Design College
@ 3 years of experience as a Concept Artist
Any interesting facts
He does not smoke but he likes to drink (a lot!) and strangely enough he can hold his liquor pretty well.
He can cook but has recently developed a taste for fast-food.
Exercises a few minutes every night before sleep to stay in a decent shape.
Room Three: Isabella Clark. (Lockerz)
Occupation: A receptionist for a delivery service.
Hobbies: Isabella absolutely loves to read. She’s usually wandering around with her kindle or a book tucked into her pockets. She’s an avid writer as well so may stop someone in mid sentence to jot down an idea that pops into her head. She’s also a bit of an exercise lover and keeps her sport socks and trainers neatly placed by the door whenever they’re not in use.
Relationship status: It’s a little complicated.
Personality: Despite her retreatment into the world of fiction it definitely doesn’t make her unsocial. Isabella absolutely loves to talk to people and has a policy of not judging anyone until she’s had a chat with them. She likes to think of herself as approachable and friendly to people and someone they can trust. She also has a habit of blurting facts out whenever she comes across something interesting in a conversation. Books and years of her parents making her do extra work have taught her quite a lot. She's got a broad mind and is accepting of a lot of things. However sometimes she can make herself a bit awkward when she expresses something opinionated.
Mannerisms: Isabella has a long term habit of playing with the ends of her hair. It’s not something she does specifically when she’s nervous or excited but tends to do it more when she feels awkward or pressured.
Clothing style: By the ways she acts it would probably be most conventional to connect Isabella to plaid skirts and blazers but she’s most comfortable when she’s wearing an over-sized hoodie and a pair of skinny jeans. However her wardrobe is full of smart and pretty t-shirts due to her mother and sister’s influence. They always seem to just stop by to drag her out of a shopping trip to buy her more clothes than she needs. She absolutely adores Jack Wills clothing.
Biography: Isabella was born in Bath, England the daughter of an accountant and a social worker. From the very beginning she was taught new things and by the time she was four she'd already been to most of the countries in Europe. She and her older sister, Caroline, were always close and remained to be as they grew older. By the time they were teenagers it was almost like they were playful rivals, always trying to out do each other but it never got too competitive or stressful. Luckily. Some may call Isabelle spoilt as her entire life she always got what she wanted. Her mum brought her the finest clothes and took her on luxorious holidays to Italy and France. Her father wasn't around very much and when he was home his main priority was making sure Isabella was always on top of her game. Second was never good enough and whenever she didn't achieve the best she could practically feel his disappointment.
As a result she did very well in school and had a clear focus of success in the future but since she graduated from University her father has played even less of a part in her life, although she still sees her sister and mother whenever they come up to visit her.
Perhaps the study hard lifestyle led to being a little sheltered. Of course this was countered by visits to plenty of different cultures but in reality she only ever had a few very close friends and only one real male friend until she went to University. As a child her best friend was the boy next door, Stephen and as they grew up they grew closer. It wasn't exactly that Isabella's relationship options were wide with the arrangements her parents made. Going to Cambridge as well, Isabella and Stephen became a couple at University but she's almost bored with him now she's realised there's more out there than just boring work and a boyfriend who's too close minded and unadventurous. She just can't bring herself to let him go.
Hayesfield Girls’ School – Bath – Age 11 – 18.
University of Cambridge – First class honours in Law.
Any interesting facts:
-Due to her well travelled background and upbringing, Isabella speaks substantial amounts of French, Russian, Italian and Swedish.
-She absolutely loves cheesy pop music. It’s almost a guilty pleasure.
-She took ballet for eleven years.
Room Four: Robin McCarthy. (The Xtreme One)
Photographer for a Boxing Magazine
Robin loves taking photographs, believing that by capturing the moment it will last forever. He enjoys an intensive workout routine and likes contact sports. Robin is an avid music fan and although he attempts to play guitar, he isn’t very good.
Robin is a complex creature by design. To look at him, you would probably think that he was an up-his-own-ass toff who looked down on you. Well you would definitely be wrong as Robin is much more down with the common man than his appearance would suggest. Although very independent and a seemingly solitary character, Robin is very empathetic and can easily understand people’s troubles. A keen surveyor of the human condition, there can be times where he simply goes silent and just watches you (not in a creepy stalker sort of way) he really is just trying to understand you better and work out what makes you tick.
An appreciator of beauty, Robin can often be found taking pictures of everything and anything that takes his fancy. With all of the troubles in the world, most people forget that it is in fact a magical place but not Robin, he could never forget. On the flip side of his boyish charm and quietness, there is an aggressive and somewhat relentless young man. Robin never does anything in halves; he always goes all out in everything he does. His workouts are intense and he pushes himself dangerously to the limit for no other reason than to see how far he can go. Sometimes, Robin has problems controlling his impulses and often gives in to them. Although not often violent, he can easily be provoked as his temper is short and Robin does not suffer fools. He is prone to addictive behavior and if he wants something, he will take it and then take some more just for good measure.
A lot of the pressure he feels comes from Robin himself. Generally, he is a kind hearted guy who would always lend a helping a hand when it’s needed, no matter whom it was that needed it. He is willing to burden himself with other people’s problems and is always there to listen. The simple fact is that Robin’s biggest problem is that he is willing to carry everyone else’s troubles and aid them in fixing them but doesn’t take stock of his own issues until it’s too late.
Robin is known to often scratch the back of his head during a conversation. He also talks with his hands a lot.
Robin has a bit of a preppy style, more often than not dressing in nice pants, buttoned down shirts and jumpers. He does dress in jeans on occasion and wears tennis shoes and stencil t-shirts when going to a concert.
Robin McCarthy was born in Chelsea and was the second of two. He has an older brother Will Jr. who is five years his senior. Early life wasn’t particularly difficult for Robin, his family was not wealthy but they were fairly well off and comfortable so it wasn’t financial hardship which molded him into the man he was today. No that was the people around him. William Sr. Robin’s father was a hard man and he had the idea in his head that his boys had to be the best at everything, second place was never an option. Whilst Will Jr had the natural ability to live up to his father’s expectations, Robin didn’t. He was too much like his mother, quiet, shy and lacking confidence in his own abilities. By not doing what he was told, Robin provoked his father enough to warrant violence against him. Eventually his parents divorced and it was left up to the boys to decide who they wanted to live with. Robin chose both.
For most of his adolescent years, he found himself alternating between the two houses, honor-bound to spend time with the father he hated and the mother who he just didn’t like. His brother was MIA during this time so all Robin had was himself. He began to take an interest in photography in his final year of GSCE’s and one a whim decided to sign up for several A-Level courses. A bright young man, Robin did well and headed to University once he had the necessary qualifications. It wasn’t until then that people began to realize there was something more to him than just a charming smile. Robin’s roommate at the time began to become worried when he would wake up in the middle of the night and find Robin dripping with sweat and doing a thousand push-ups at three in the morning. It was at University he met a young French woman named Melanie. The two hit it off immediately and were entranced by each other fairly quickly.
Everything was moving so fast and by the time Robin graduated, he was ready to propose to Melanie. It wasn’t to be though as one night whilst out for dinner, she broke up with him out of the blue. She said it was because she couldn’t stand by and watch him burn himself out trying to make others happy, whilst leaving himself to melt in the flames. Heartbroken and despondent, Robin retreated to his new flat at the Horizon Apartments, picking up the keys and throwing himself into his work.
-Westlake Preparatory School – GSCE and A-Levels
- City University London – BA (Hons) in Journalism
Any interesting facts:
- Robin is a keen martial artist
- He speaks fluent French
- Robin has a tattoo of (you guessed it) a robin on his left deltoid
Room Five: Valerie & Vincent Astridd (Aesthetic)
Occupation: Occasional babysitter, but she works as a waitress in a local old-fashioned diner/ice cream shoppe. Val hopes to eventually star in a film, get signed to a record label, or both.
Valerie enjoys singing, dancing, and acting, this trio of talents often regarded as a “triple threat.” She loves music with all of her dear heart, and plays a multitude of instruments, including the violin, guitar, clarinet, oboe, drums, and harmonica. Valerie is also an avid knitter. She is the type of person who enjoys solving arithmetic problems. Valerie is fond of hiking and other outdoor sports.
Relationship Status: She is single.
Hard-working,elegant, and very charismatic, Valerie likes to keep to herself. She is very sweet and fun-loving, but she tends to lash out with harsh comments, often to defend herself or her passive brother. She takes most things seriously, especially if they involve her career, and isn't as laid-back as Vincent. Valerie lacks common sense and often over-thinks things, and she can be a bit melodramatic at times. She secretly craves attention. Valerie is very social and chatty, although it seems like most of what she talks about is gossip.
Valerie is easily jealous or envious, and it's not that hard to tell. Despite her excellent acting techniques, you can read Valerie's feelings like a book. She is also a terrible liar.
Bubbly and riveting, Valerie is very kind and generous, and the trait seems to be hereditary. She's very bright, but hasn't planned a “fallback” career.
Valerie has the awkward tendency to burst out into random song and choreography, or perhaps begin to recite lines from a play she's in.She also can be seen fumbling with her hair, biting her lower lip,and chewing her nails, especially when she feels the awkward tension that often settles in a silent room. Val does her best to counteract with these poor habits, but it seems like her efforts aren't doing any good.
Valerie wears an assortment of clothing; from thrift-bought tops to name-brand jeans. She favors a cute casual or boho style when she'snot doing anything of extreme importance. When auditioning, Valerie will stick to dressy-casual. Despite her like for fashion, Val tries to not dress too “inappropriately.”
Born on the 5th of December, Valerie and Vincent were referred to as “early Christmas presents.” Their mother, Sara Poiles, an American journalist, and their father, Devin Astridd, a traveling entrepreneur, enjoyed the company of their children, but not eachother. This will play a key role in her life later.
Throughout Valerie's childhood, Val was exposed to the arts. Her love for danced bloomed when she was just a tyke, when she took classes for ballet, clogging, and jazz. At the age of 8, Valerie began taking singing lessons. She later began acting, at around the age of 11, after reading some of her mother's old scripts. Valerie was a very busy child, balancing one lesson after another almost every day of the week. It's almost painful to think about squeezing in private instrumental lessons.
Valerie was also very troubled. Upon listening in on one of her father's phone calls, Val discovered that both of her parents weren't faithful. She was only 12, but it didn't matter. Despite her attempts to get the truth out of her parents, Valerie was never able to get them to fess up, until they divorced when she was 18. From this sprouted her bitter hate for liars. As a settlement for the divorce, Devin got custody over the children, since he had sufficient funds, and Sara could only visit every couple of months.
Valerie recently graduated from university with her degree in Acting.Following this, she got a role as an extra in a movie. She has recently been taking lessons in hip-hop and ballroom dancing, as well as cello lessons.
Hemingway Quarry Private School – 5-13
St.Anne School for Gifted Girls - 14-18
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art – 18-22
Any interesting facts:
Valerie used to dye her hair in an assortment of colors just to piss off her father.
Valerie was an extra in two movies, and has had a total of four speaking roles in film. She has starred in a few plays, namely as Ophelia and Juliet, girls from the work of Shakespeare.
Valerie wanted to own a dance studio as a child.
Vincent is her twin brother, and she is older than him by about 2 hours.
Name:Vincent “Vinny” Astridd
Occupation: The Horizon Apartments' official slacker. He was once a freelance photographer.
Hobbies: One wouldn't be surprised to find Vincent fast asleep on the couch, where he has chosen to reside while Valerie is living with him. He is very good at playing video games, and likes sculpt. Vincent was a great conceptual/freelance photographer, but he has since put up his camera.
Relationship Status: Single
Vincent is lazy. He likes to spend his time relaxing, and he is not favorable of work unless he gets some sort of benefit from it. He seems very reserved, but that's a who different story, especially if he is drinking. Where Valerie lacks common sense, Vincent has plenty, as he tries doing things the easy way rather than the hard way. Vincent is also very passive about a lot of matters, and he takes everything as a joke, which often gets Valerie upset. To most who don't know him very well, Vincent is cold and painfully sarcastic, often ridiculing everyone but his sister. He's definitely got a sense of humor, although he is quite insensitive about it. A narcissist.
Vincent is very bold and daring, although he lacks the charisma to talk to people. He's not as bright as most people, since he didn't attend university, but Vincent is very good at crunching numbers.
Vincent is all about perspectives. As a has-been photographer, he likes to see things from different angles. He's all for voicing his own opinion; Vincent likes to be heard. Vincent gets jealous easily. He is very immature and irresponsible, which is why he is rarely trusted with anything.
Vincent has a cruel sense of humor. He will often tease people, not caring about whether or not their feelings were hurt. He also bites his lip, similar to Valerie. Professional Procrastinator.
Vincent likes to dress very casually, often roaming in a shirt and jeans. His closet consists of V-necks and graphic t-shirts, although you might find a suit or two in there. For a guy who doesn't go out much, he sure has a lot of shoes: namely Converse and Vans.
Since he and Valerie are twins, they share the same birthdate; December 5th.
Vincent couldn't have cared less about his father and mother's affairs, often sucked into his studies (yes, believe it or not, Vincent was once studious) and piano lessons. He was there to comfort Valerie, who often spent most of her nights crying. He never took any other lessons besides the piano, although he may have wanted to play thet rumpet at some point.
When he was 15, Vincent was told some dating advice from his older cousins. He took everything for granted, besides their last piece of advice: “Don't be afraid to question your sexuality.”
Well, suffice to say, Vinny was freaked out by that advice, and actually did start to reconsider if he was straight or not. After a few weeks of careful thought, Vincent decided that he was straight.
Instead of going to college like a good boy, Vinny just lived in the Apartments, hiding from his father, who was sure to be angry that his son wasn't in university yet. Over the years, Vincent attained traits that would be hard to lose; laziness and procrastination.Eventually, he would take up photography, as it takes minimal effort, although Vincent fell out of that after only 2 years.
He vouched to let Valerie live with him while she tried to live out her dreams.
Hemingway Quarry Private School – 5-13
Ellvue Private High School – 14-18
Any interesting facts:
Vincent used to be in a band called Ultra Highway. He played keyboard.
Vincent was on Ellvue High's football (soccer) team.
He wanted to be an architect growing up.
Vincent is trying to grow facial hair to suit his lazy-ness, but Valerie somehow finds the most painful ways of removing his said facial hair.
Room Six: Connor Daemen (Kierenus)
Science Teacher at Local High School/Secondary School (teaches 11th Grade/Juniors/British Equivalent)
Connor likes to read. He has a 1-bookshelf library (like 1-man army) in his bedroom. Connor also likes to open his apartment window and look outside with a telescope he keeps in his living room. Connor also makes a magnificent cook. He loves to cook, either for him or for others. Connor also likes to jog every once in a while.
Single, but Searching for "the One."
Connor can be quiet from time to time, but that's not in the classroom in which he teaches. He is chatty with his students, and with those he knows well, but is quiet to complete strangers. Connor has a well sense of humor, associated with his unique laughter. Connor is a bookworm; he loves to read, and read, and read. He is a natural chef; he can cook anything, anytime, anywhere. He loves cooking. Just loves it. Connor isn't very athletic; though he's just above average. He does some jogs here and there. Connor has a great and loveable smile.
Connor is a gentleman. He uses his manners in most of the things he does.
Connor tends to wear button-downs with jeans, and sometimes long-sleeved blank sweaters (the ones with no zipper). He also wears a scarf. This is mainly in the winter. In summer, he usually wears Polos with cargo shorts. His shoes are mainly sneakers. When jogging, he wears a headband, a jersey, and shorts. He can also bring his MP3 with him. For special occasions, he wears a fancy suit, or sometimes, even a tuxedo.
Connor Daemen was born on the eve of April 12th, 28 years ago, to high-class parents John and Eliza Daemen, and was their only child. His early life was exceptional, or so, that is what he inferenced from looking at all his baby pictures. He had quite an amazing educational experience. He was the star of his class. He won several awards, most involving science. Connor had a large passion for astronomy. He got his first telescope at the age of 9 and guarded it with his life. It was very special to him. Connor has never had a pet, though he wishes with his heart that he will get a dog. Connor went through all of his school successfully, eventually graduating and completing every single grade level. Connor had a girlfriend in 12th grade, but was soon gone after he had found out that she was cheating on him. Both boys teamed up, and took her down and made her pay. The girl supposedly moved away, and was never seen again by Connor or the other boy. Connor and the boy, in which he became good (and later, best) friends with, quickly recovered from the tragic incident, and continued with their lives. The boy's name was Edward "Eddie" Penns. He lives not too far from the Horizon Apartments as of today.
After graduating, Connor went to the University of London to study astronomy, science, and to become a teacher. He went up to a Master's degree, and graduated. Shortly after graduating, Connor lived in a mansion, but was evicted after his entire family was bankrupted due to financial issues. They were lucky enough to remain as a middle-class family, instead of low-class, but they lost a lot. Connor found the Horizon Apartments, and from then on, he lives in Room 6.

Room Seven: Scarlett Wild & Alexander Wild. (Confidence)
21 years old // Student and a host at a high-end restaurant
Scarlett's biggest hobby is martial arts. She's been taking Karate, Kickboxing, Judo, and Kendo. She's also a singer, though she doesn't enjoy singing in public. Rather, she sings when she's alone, when no one can hear her, after her mother attempted to force her into the music industry when she was 17.
Taken, though her boyfriend is still in America and he's been getting more and more distant...
Scarlett was named after Scarlett O'Hara. She was meant to be wild, strong, charming, and extremely clever. Her mother was extremely disappointed when instead, Scarlett turned out to be more of a Melanie Wilkes. Scarlett is a woman of great integrity inner strength, and generosity. She is often loved immensely for these qualities, despite her blindness to the faults of people's ulterior motives, as she is constantly seeing nothing but the best in them. She is sincerely and endlessly kind, with a thoughtfulness for others that cannot be imitated. With her unassuming charm, Scarlett tends to be a favorite of people. They flock to her open face and rely on her greatly, placing a heavy responsibility on Scarlett's shoulders, which she effortlessly carries. She's also ambitious, with a keen thirst for knowledge; she's often found curled up in the couch, wrapped up in a novel. She is, in that sense, the living, breathing form of Melanie Wilkes. But whenever her mother accuses her of being too similar to Melanie, Scarlett rolls her eyes - inside, of course. She's similar in some ways, in the ways that most define Melanie, it's true. But she's also afraid of heights, eager to go out for a night of fun and karaoke, and she's a fitness/health freak. She has a slight dislike for her mother, though she can't help but love the woman.
Scarlett is expressive, talking with her hands and keeping a dynamic change of voice when she speaks. She also raises her eyebrows whenever she's amused, and crinkles her nose when she's confused.
Scarlett's closet consists mainly of jeans, shorts, sweats, and leggings - with not a single skirt in sight. She usually settles with the 'bum' look, as she is an aspiring student who has little time to car for her looks. However, she keeps a wide array of options, as she likes to be prepared for every situation. She has the means to dress fantastically - she just chooses not o.
Scarlett's father is Peter Wild, and her mother is Amanda Wild. The two divorced when Scarlett was three, and she eventually figured out why: her mother was crazy. Amanda Wild was pushy and insistent on the way she wanted things. As a result, Scarlett ended up auditioning for American Idol when she was 17, and because she didn't want to do it at all, she sang terribly intentionally. She was the girl who made straight A's for her mother and cried when she got a B, because her mother scared her so much when she was a child, with her strange ways. Amanda looks nothing like her father, and is practically identical to her mother, though she has her father's clear, bottomless eyes. Scarlett grew up mildly popular, with enough friends to make her happy and not enough to influence her into things she would have immediately gone against. Her role model is her Uncle Eddy, a man she had once believed to be Santa Claus. He was fat, extremely fat, but he had the heart of ten strong, gentle men, and Scarlett had come to think of her mother's brother as her father, as opposed to Peter Wild. However, Scarlett remained on loving terms with her father, who eventually found her an apartment to live in when he found out Scarlett was transferring to a prestigious university close to London. But now that she's in London, Scarlett's boyfriend, Simon, has been acting strange. She met her current boyfriend at University of Chicago. He was a timid student a year older than she was, and she was attracted to him immediately. The two were going strong, or at least, she thought they were.

Her and Alexander Wild are step-sisters.
24 years old // A graphic designer, seller of handmade jewelry, and an aspiring fashion designer
Alexander is absolutely obsessed with anything to do with beauty, but her true focus is on fashion. She's a whiz at predicting trends, and her sketches are absolutely breath-taking. She also runs every morning and evening. She also makes her own jewelry, and sells them online for a few euros.
Alexander lives up to her surname: wild. She lived the crazy life until after she turned 22 - her father had asked her to calm down, for his sake. She dotes on Peter Wild, and of course complied immediately. Alexander tends to be catty, with absolutely no empathy for people who are "stupid enough to get cheated and manipulated." Her thinking is completely black-and-white, with no room for negotiations. As a result, she tends to be the boldest person in the room, saying exactly what she means and not caring how people react. In her world, everything is yes or no, like or dislike, love or hate. There is no in-between. Once getting past the pretty face and the straight forward manner, people see her purity; Alexander is, believe it or not, a virgin, a believer in true love. She's a true romantic, though few expect it, and indeed, only her family has gotten past the 'pretty face and straight forward manner' of hers.
Alexander rolls her eyes often, tosses her hair over her shoulder whenever she ends an argument, and tucks her hair behind her ear when she's thinking over something seriously, or when she's about to say something important.
Alexander is the definition of fashionista. She has every shoe, every skirt, every dress, and even a few pairs of high-end jeans and the essential high waisted shorts. She has five items of every single trend that's spread in the past ten years - courtesy of her father and her nicely paying jobs. She never, ever goes out looking like she'd thrown something on, much less be seen with someone who doesn't match up.
Alexander has one older sister, Madison Wild. The two aren't close at all, Madison being a beautiful but dull girl who is happy with a good-for-nothing husband and a crappy job at Walmart. Alexander's mother is Theresa Wild, who has a sharp tongue but a soft heart, and her father is Peter Wild, who works in business. He's tried to convince Alexander to go into business as well, praising her mind and her talent for all things business, but Alexander patiently reminds him of her dreams of the runway. People haven't taken Alexander seriously since she's had a fling with an almost-famous actor; they assume she's the empty headed Barbie doll who doesn't keep up with anything worth mentioning. Some of it is true; Alexander is a little dismissive of things like the economy, politics, etc... but she's always been a sharp thinker. Clever, a little ruthless, but always sharp. She often gets hurt by these degrading comments, but she's a tough girl - she can handle it. She's never been too close with people in the first place, meaning Alexander doesn't care much for friends, much less boyfriends. She's had plenty of flings, but has never had one to call her own. And despite her romantic dreams of the future, her dreams of her career are placed much higher than what her heart wants. She's constantly out trying to find someone who'll just listen to her. Just one person, would that be too much to ask?

Room Eight: Kara Dimore. (Maykxor)
Name: Kara Dimore
Occupation: Clerk at a clothing retail store
Hobbies: Rock concerts, loud music, parties, double dog dares, anything loud, extreme, or thrilling you name it; Kara's up for it. But of course she can never stick to one thing for long as it tends to wear out it's welcome in her life. Her hobbies tended to change nearly bi-weekly to stave the boredom. A Jill of all trades, master of none so to speak. The most recent of discoveries that she has picked up, however, consists of her car, a closed circuit, and plenty of under the table wagers.
Relationship status: (dependent on more characters)
Personality: At first glance, you would say Kara is just plain creepy. Of course, it goes deeper than that. After all, nobody is just one colour. But don't be fooled, Kara does have a rather harsh exterior, despite her best intentions. Easy to annoy and hard to cope with would just be scratching the surface. Kara can get pretty snappy when she wants to. She's not really all that bad per se it's more that she just doesn't give a shit about much and gets annoyed when people judge her for just being herself. More often than not, it's her sarcastic manner in which she always carries on in that gives her this off-settling disposition and puts her in a class all of her own. She does more or less whatever she feels and needs no explanation as to why.
Mannerisms: Kara tends to crack her joints more than she should and often talks to herself, sometimes out loud.
Clothing style: Kara is somewhat on the edge of punk/rock with a hint of individuality. She couldn't care less about the latest fashions or what other people wear but instead picks whatever makes her look fabulous.
Biography: It would be believable, expected even, to say kara grew up in a broken household with a father who drank and a mother who abandoned her leaving a detrimental emotional scar on her leaving her to her own devices explaining the cold hearted careless personality. Strangely enough. Kara's childhood was exactly the opposite. She grew up in a good home with loving parents who raised her well. Her mother, Alissa, was a realtor and a quite successful one at that. Her father, James, an officer of the local PD. And a brother who Kara had a strong hate/love relationship with. yes, everything would have been perfect in her childhood.
Kara was a delightful child. All the teachers could never share enough praise of how charming she was. Like any other little girl, Kara loved her dolls, her dresses, and held on tight to those wide eyed dreams with her grubby little fingers of marrying a prince and becoming a princess. In middleschool, she joined art club and became quite talented at portraits and creative imaginative landscapes. Once this hidden talent was found, art was her life. Most of her clothes were stained with paints and plasters. But because of her constant devotion to her talent and the resulting appearance, Kara made little friends. Despite this, she was happy. Her father had always taught her to be independent. "Be proud of your work. Don't let anyone talk you down. You, are the princess of your own kingdom." And she believed it. When nobody else would stand by her, he did. Kara grew rather fond of him as any daddy's girl would.
Just before graduation, Kara had set plans to head off to art school and become a world famous artist and her parents supported her fully. But the week before the final ceremonies, her father was killed by a street thug. She can't quite recall all that happened but all she could remember was the boy demanding their money with a knife clasped in his hands and her father bravely trying to calm him down. The thug looked desperate, scared, crazed even. He must have been on edge as well cause a passing car's muffler rang out a sound of a gun shot and in reflex the thug slashed the knife at her father lodging it's blade in his jugular. It wasn't on purpose, the thug even managed a shaky apology before fleeing for his life. But the damage was done, and Kara saw her father rolling on the ground, his blood staining her shoes. The sight horrified her to no end. She grew silent, detached. The whole world she grew up in changed for her. Her own mother couldn't sooth her hollow frustration. One day, without warning, she just picked up the keys to the car... and left. She couldn't touch a paintbrush. Every stroke, each shade of red reminded her of the fateful event. Art school of course was put on permanent hold. Kara didn't know whether to be angry, mournful, or scared. All she could remember were her fathers words. "Be the princess of your own kingdom." This wasn't her kingdom anymore, never was in fact. This was the real world.
Education history: High-school grad. Some undergraduate study. No real major or plans for the future.
Any interesting facts: She cant go one day without stopping by the corner coffee shop every morning for her coffee, then again, who can?
