There's not a lot of the faceless crowd, but a few... Not sure on exact count, but it is probably less than equal distribution. (can you confirm faceless soldier count, HeySeuss?)
I mainly going off the idea that a unit in the Republic military wouldn't mainly be comprised of jedi. Even if most of the actual grunts are dead, there's bound to be plenty to later reinforce them.

IRSOG37 was designed a bit differently that way... it had a far higher Jedi count than the other IRSOG units. The Tranoraan mission started with about 25-30 people, of which 10 were Jedi. After the casualties so far, that has been changed to around 6 jedi and about as many non-jedi. (HeySeuss, do you have precise numbers?)

Most other IRSOG units are probably supplied with far fewer Jedi... maybe 1-3 per unit, if any at all. Such small Jedi squads cannot do the same range of things a large team of them can.

We'd guess that since there weren't that many soldiers to begin with, the ship they came on (the Intruder) would not have a large complement of soldiers available for reinforcing them. The mission was after all infiltration and capture, not overwhelm and destroy. Its not the sort of mission they'd have hundreds of soldiers available for.

Figure that there are as many NPC grunt types as you need. I mean, I figured that there were a couple extra guys with Azor and then Thex's squad out of the troops left with VORNSKR, for example.

    Nice solution HeySeuss...

How large is the typical IRSOG unit?

Company-sized. But that's deceptive, as they are a special operations unit. They are typically undermanned due to casualties, as well. So we're talking about ninety people at full strength, considerably less in reality. Somewhere around sixty, which is two rather than three platoons.

So we're down to half the usual platoons?

Also, what happened to the collab we were going to do? Fortunately, I think I'm starting to get out of that writer's block, anyway, so I can probably get a post up on my own in a bit. I'll probably have Vran react to his master's death, then stumble upon Zhiss seemingly by accident.

Well, Zhiss is in command of Thex's squad, since Thex was off to set the beacon; she's injured in the shoulder and it was a climb. So yeah, if he made for the mainframe room where Azor is hacking, he'd run into them.

So started out at around 60, with quite a few casualties, with the possibility of squads getting lost all around the place.

Is it reasonable to assume that IRSOG37 has been reduced to somewhat less than half of that number, through a mix of KIAs and MIAs?

Is a good guess of mando numbers being in the hundreds? Say, having started on five hundred at the story's start, reduced by 100-150 by this point?

We're asking mostly because it would help us plan future posts...

That works; Mandalorians were in stronger force than expected in the compound, basically. The briefing indicated far less defenses than there actually were.

    indeed.

400-450 is a fairly challenging foe count. It'll be interesting to discover why there were/are so many there...
