The guards satisfied with their arrival nodded before walking into the room, "well I am sure you are taken care of for now." He said looking at the room a little envious that she gets this nice room, but he smiled and looked at her on the bed before walking to the door. "If you need anything ask a nearby guard and he can help organize your request, as well you will receive a message when dinner is ready and you will be escorted to the dining room. Right now before I leave the castle I need to inform my master that you have arrived, now I do hope you enjoy your stay." He said with a smile as he left the room, he made his way down the hall to the large room at the other end of the third floor.

The guard knocks on his door to get Gunseng's attention, "my lord I have information for you." The man replied quickly from the other side, "please come inside and deliver this message." The guard nods and enters the room and makes a bow, "sir your guests have arrived and plan on joining us for dinner tonight." Gunseng nodded and looked at her with a smile, "good then I will meet them then, it will be easier to gauge what I will be dealing with during tomorrow's negotiations." The guard nodded standing in the doorway, "yes sir is that all you need?" Gunseng nodded at him, "yes that is all I need from you, go ahead and return to your post." The guard nods before leaving, Gunseng returns to reading his book in anticipation of dinner.

"I will, thank you so much." Lessa sat up from the bed, nodded to the man, and then closed the door behind him as he took his leave. He seemed kind enough, but the young woman knew better than to let her guard down. She would always remain on edge, especially now that she had crossed into unfamiliar territory. She took caution while preparing for dinner, keeping her bath short and her eye on the door at all times. Even as she sat beside the fire, letting her damp hair dry, she stayed ready. Her knife lay by her side.

The fire was still crackling away as Lessa finished the preparations. A few layers of hair were pulled back, enough to keep it from falling into her eyes, but the majority of her blonde hair fell in loose ringlets around her face. She was dressed in a navy blue dress, with a white sash wrapped around her waist. Her sash was both fashionable, and a nice hiding place for a small dagger in case things went south. She waited for word from the messenger.

Gunseng was getting ready for dinner after a quick soak and which he took a small knife in its sheath and set it down so he could dress, he stood up and walked over to his closet and took out a blue tunic that had buttons and markings along it in the colors of red and silver. It as well had a black eagle on the chest and put the tunic on as well as tying a long sash that draped from his waist that was colored blue was well being rimmed in silver with another black eagle edged in gold coloring, it was a formal outfit and he placed the sheath on his belt and placed his red pants on as well with his black shoes. He was ready he thought and made his way to the dining hall, he smiled as a guard escorted him.

Another guard was walking to her room up the staircase to the top floor, he walked up until the staircase and stopped at the door that lead to her room. He coughed a little bit into his hand as he knocked on the door with his gloved gauntlet giving it a metallic ring to it, "excuse me madam but my lord wishes you to know that dinner is ready." He said as he looked around the hall and saw others heading to the hall, "did you need any help madam or are you ready for me to escort you?"

Lessa stood as she heard the knock at the door. With one final look at her appearance, she pressed her hand to her dagger lightly, and moved across the room. Pulling the door open, she faced the guard. "No, I am quite alright, thank you. No help will be necessary." She slipped past the man and closed the door behind her. As she turned back, she noticed Elyk and Cepheus standing in the hallway. Both were dressed nicely, demonstrating that they were willing to clean up a bit for this meeting. Their hands were clasped behind their backs, but she did not miss the knives they both had resting on their hips. So she was not the only one to come prepared.

The guard smiled as he saw all three of them gather and he motioned for them to follow him down the hall to make their way to the dining room downstairs, "alright please follow me and I will lead you to where you shall be dining tonight." He said with a smile and a bow before turning on heel, he looked down the hall and began walking down as his metal greaves shook each time they hit the ground. It would be a short walk and as he made his way to the hall the castle and all its numerous decorations showing the Palakian affiliation through crests and seals along the walls, soon they came to a modestly sized pair of doors and it was thrown open to show the magnificent and well lit and decorated dining hall.

Gunseng looked up as he saw his honored guests being escorted by the guard he smiled and motioned the man over to where he was, he had organized that his guests be given seats near him to speak in a casual setting as well as try to gauge just what kind of diplomat was sent to see him. He couldn't see them that well but he smiled none the less and thought the view would be better when they got closer, no one was eating yet as it was considered rude to eat until all guests were present. "Welcome honored guests to my dining hall and castle!"

"Welcome honored guests to my dining hall and castle!"

Lessa was startled by the voice that greeted them as they entered the dining hall. The young man was young, much younger than she had been anticipating. By no means did this discourage her, as it would be hypocritical to assume young people made terrible diplomats. However, she was still surprised by his young age. Perhaps they had more in common than she had first thought.

Looking the young man up and down, she tried her best to size him up. His handsome features expressed a look of joy and welcome, but part of her began to doubt if that smile was genuine. Nevertheless, she returned it with a soft smile of her own. "Thank you, sir," she replied shortly, with a curt nod. Then, she let her gaze wander across the room. The dining hall was exquisit, brightly lit and quite cheery. It was certainly an interesting place to hold a meeting such as this. Briefly, she wondered what the man had to gain by holding their talk in such a happy atmosphere. But she pushed that to the back of her mind as she took the seat to the right of the young man. Elyk sat directly to her right, and her second guard, across the table.

As they made their way to the table he sat down in his chair and now the work of spreading the large banquet throughout the table began as the cooking staff came into the room and would disperse plates of food for them all, it was the appetizer right now and as such it was a well prepared salad with small additions of chicken in it with a sweet fruity sauce to dress it. He took the first bite of the salad as it was brought to himself and his guests first, as she got closer he could see she had remarkable features to say the least but it wouldn't sway his mind so simply he thought.

He was keeping an eye on her for a few moments trying to note anything about her that would help him gain perspective on who he was going to be negotiating with, he smiled as he analyzed her and tried to determine how built she was to find if she had any military training or blade training. He couldn't see much in that dress but from what he gathered she wasn't a professional fighter like himself or her guards but looks could be deceiving he thought, however he trusted them well enough he truly wanted to get the negotiations through instead of holding to old grudges. "So what do you think of your meal so far?"

Lessa kept her head down, and picked hesitantly at her salad. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched the young man take his first few bites. Then she glanced toward her two guards. They were both eating the salad, and as they had not fallen off their chairs convulsing yet, perhaps the food was not poisoned. She took a bite, and was both surprised and delighted by the tangy fruit dressing. Absolutely not what she had been expecting.

"So what do you think of your meal so far?"

The young woman looked up from her plate. Nodding, she gently put down her fork and put her hands in her lap.
"It is excellent, thank you." She replied. Then her eyes narrowed gently. "Though it would be quite a bit more pleasant if you would stop staring at me." Her voice was light, suggesting that perhaps she was only joking. But the message was still there.

He smirked when she noted he was observing her and trying to analyze her but then he realized that she had been doing the same as well trying to size him up or something along those lines and he simply offered two replies, "well I am glad you find our food to be excellent and I hope you are enjoying it despite how hesitant you were to actually take a bite." He said with a smile and then said once more in reply, "I promise to stop looking at you if you promise that you are done looking at me as well."

He said with a sly grin as he finished the salad that was prepared for them and shortly after the staff entered with soup that was prepared for them, it was a nice soup with a tomato base that had multiple vegetables, pasta, and beef mixed into it. "This is a traditional soup of our homeland I do hope you find it to your liking madam." He said as he took a drink of wine from his glass and then proceeded to sniff the soup before taking a bite of it, "delicious."

As he commented on her hesitancy when eating, she merely shrugged. To poison the enemy through food was hardly an uncommon occurrence, and she absolutely would not have put it past the young man. He seemed so at ease around her. It would have made sense for him to be calm because he knew the food would kill them. Now that she realized the food was safe, his easy-going attitude struck her as even more odd. Then he mentioned that he was aware she was looking at him. Rather than taking it lightly, as her host clearly had, her lips drew into a tight line. She was silent as the waiters brought out the next course, and remained so as the young man explained the source of the soup.

When he called it delicious, Lessa grit her teeth and placed her napkin, which had originally rested in her lap, on the table. "I am sure it is," she commented, "but must admit that I do not have much of an appetite." This cheerful atmosphere was beginning to get to her.
