Garrum stopped and gazed back at the woman who stood in her odd skirting and her ice white mist - as if she were more painting than woman. then again, she wasn't a woman at all, was she? She was prim and sweet and alien to him. He watched her in wonderment.

"I have lost a great deal to the swamps," he considered. "Therefore, your suggestion lady?" He thought to himself that she wished for them to leave the swamps as quickly as possible. It would make the most sense, of course. In particular if she, on her own, were protecting him from the world in which they lay. "The nearest road, lady, is the exit by which I came, through the village. Or, if you'd rather, we can follow the paths to the outskirts, northwards and closer to mountains. It is but a little further and I have heard oft, that the hold of wild magics is less there."

‘What will my death be like?’ he thought- and knew at once
with abrupt certainty, that it would be just like his life:
... the same balance of bearables.

Her movements all but freezing, misty eyes flickered up to his own the small flame of shame dimming the orbs as she felt the quiver within her lip take over."I am unable to cross through the village, there is an enchantment of sorts that forbids it."She mused softly, the ashamed tone echoing within her throat as she peeked only at his second suggestion."But I will make up for our failure through the village, the outskirts may give us a better traveling circuit and away from peering eyes..."She cooed lightly, the stiff handle of the leaf twirling lightly in her icy palm as she peered out to the entrance of the cavern."The mountains will be safe, it is from where I used to reside before coming to this home."She noted lightly, the flicker of vague remembrance blossoming forth as she soon disregarded the feeling after a moment.

Shaking what ill thoughts she once had, the flash of a cool smile soon surfaced as she held a delicate hand out for him to grasp as she cooed."Are you ready Garrum? The darkness is truly a frightening time...we should make haste before then.."
Alright folk....I'm currently swamped with work as well other other personal matters, so my replies will be a bit spaced. I will reply when I can.
    Thank you.

Her fingers were surprisingly warm when he took them. They were not human warm, by any means. But he'd half expected her to freeze him as ice did. Instead, she was there and he drew her along with him, watching her carefully.

He felt he'd keep a close eye on her for all time, though he wasn't sure the truth of such a sensation. She felt already as if she'd bound him to her fate, or her to his, he was not certain which. "We have a day's travel but it will take all of that to get to the mountain's base, lady," he nodded in agreement with her.

After shouldering his pack, he let her take his arm and led her from the cave. he felt a breath of relief as they stepped free of the cavern and out into the small clearing beyond. He had not noticed in the dark, but there was a broken down hut up against the side of the hill and it looked as if it waited, were hunched like an evil troll, in wait of whomever wandered near enough to be swallowed up. The entire of the clearing frankly frightened him and he was glad to be quit of it. They reached the road easily and he turned toward the mountains. They would not take the road to Dragon Peaks in the east, for he had no desire to traverse the edges of the village, nor desire to try the Seer again. Instead, they turned northwards where the mountains had curled about the lands, making a natural boundary far north of the land of Gyrii.

His horse would not come too near her though it was content enough to walk on his other side, not afraid but wary of her presence. Smart beast, he thought and they walked because that was what they would have to do for the time being. He did load his things onto the beast's back and with one last glance toward the Dragon Tooths, he took the left fork at the road and they began to make their way.

He felt somewhat relieved they were moving away from the warmth. In a way, despite his fears, he was sure he did not want harm to come to her. It wasn't, he told himself, due to being weak minded. He knew she was capable of defending herself by all means. It was more, he realized, that he did not wish to be near when she came to harm, for he would then have to battle with himself on if it were justified or not.
‘What will my death be like?’ he thought- and knew at once
with abrupt certainty, that it would be just like his life:
