Zaphikel was enjoying a peaceful, relaxing day in the shade. She did not like soaking up sun for some reason, one reason why her skin was always a little pale. But the shade was enough. Gulls cawed peacefully as they drifted through the crisp, salty sea air. Gentle breezes brushed against Zaphy's skin and pushed back a bit of her violet-blue hair. Her hood was down now, which was not a common sight outdoors. Or even indoors. Zaphikel usually had the hood up over her head most of the time, even when eating and sleeping. Because of this, many people around her were never able to see her eyes. People have walked by her while she lay there and tried to sneak a glimpse at her eyes, but were disappointed. Nobody could see them even now, for they were closed. Overall, it was very quiet, peaceful day so far.
But then, a bunch of sinspawn had come along to ruin it. "Zaph, Orion we got work to do!" Xalis shouted. "Sin is here? We must make haste to the village."
"Figures," Zaphikel sighed, not as frustrated as she felt. "Just wonderful..." She had a pretty but distant, if not slightly melancholic voice, though she was not really the talkative type. Getting up, she put her hood back over her head, drew a cute plushie and carried it in one arm over to the front deck. Harnessing magical energies in advance before she even arrived at the deck, Zaphikel knew she would have to be prepared.
Prepared she needed to be, and prepared she was. Several ugly sinspawn crawled on the deck on insectoid legs, some fluttering beetle-like wings and readying themselves for combat as well. Zaphikel knew to keep her distance from the monstrosities, for her physical close-combat skills were not as honed as her magics. Fortunately she was always good at keeping enemies at bay with her spells. With mana already drawn from her personal magic reserves, Zaphikel discharged a lightning bolt at one of the fiends from an open hand. Knowing the creatures come from Sin; a creature dwelling in water, lightning should work best. Electricity was the opposing element to water, so if this fiend had any elemental weakness at all the black mage figured lightning was likely to be it.
If that fiend had been killed from her lightning spell, Zaphikel would cast another one at another fiend. Preferably the one nearest her summoner. But if the first fiend still lived, she would cast another bolt to fry it with. However, if the fiend was unaffected or only slightly damaged by the lightning spell, she would try one of a different element. Probably fire.
