History of the Races:
It has been a very long time since the race of man have been seen, the world seemed to abandon them as superior races began to emerge. Their cities are buried now, and their ways being left with them. But something new has been birthed in their absence, so the ways of man- seemed to be no longer needed. Magic came with the vampires, blood was their affinity and the cost they had paid to use it, and for this cost they were granted lengthened life and the knowledge they gave us, they are a secretive people who keep mostly to themselves, but do to their age, they are rather peaceful. It known they keep mostly to themselves and family is the most important part of their society. Science came with the Nymphs, though not the type of science in which one may think. Science comes from the world “knowledge” and those who follow this art, seek knowledge through their own means. The Nymphs knew the world better than anyone, how it worked and how it breathed, and with this information they could bend it to their whim. The oldest of their kind reside in the forests and kept the world alive and at balance, but the younger of their kind test their abilities and press their boundaries hoping to strengthen themselves.
The last to come were the Ogres, and what they brought was something less physical, but before I go into that, we must discuss them. Ogres are the youngest of the races to have emerged in the world, they are large, incapable of magic, and are too young to know what the world has to give them. This turned the race hostile, and they to this day fight among each other for dominance, Ogres are physically very powerful and their battles are said to cause earthquakes in the areas around them. Though the race has always longed for purpose, this longing is what causes them to wonder what the world had to give them. The leader of their kind left with the strongest of their warriors in search for other races and the information to bring back to their people, the Ogre King travelled, and first he came to a great forest so dense that the sun couldn’t be seen from within; The Ogre King entered this undiscovered forest, and within it he and the warriors were attacked by creatures formed by the land itself. Six of the warriors were killed, and they finally reached a clearing within the forest where the sky glowed blue. A woman much smaller than them appeared and said to the Ogre King he had no place roaming a forest with so many secrets to hide. The Ogre King in awe took the Nymph’s words, and asked only one question before leaving. “Where does an Ogre belong?” The Nymph knowing the Ogre would not leave without a valid answer replied “Under an open sky, in a city large enough to keep you safe.” The Ogre King and his men left peacefully, and continued their journey. They found nothing and the nature of their race began to work against them, they fought amongst one another for many days, until every warrior was killed and the Ogre King remained. He travelled alone for the remaining days before he could no longer walk, falling into a deep sleep. When the King woke up, he found that he was surrounded by many smaller creatures, and one approached him with a blade to his throat, he was bound and unable to defend himself. The creature recited some words the Ogre King didn’t understand, and then the bindings broke, and the creature asked the king why the creature was in the lands of his people. The Ogre King replied “Those I trusted turned on me, and they fought me till I was exhausted then killed one another.” The creature found pity on the king and asked him to leave in peace, but did not want to leave empty handed so before he left he asked the Vampire “Where does an Ogre belong?” the Vampire knowing that he would not leave without an answer replied “In a land where you, and those you love can live in peace.” The Ogre took these words to heart and left in peace, it took many years to find the two creatures and many more to finally return to his people, and by the time he came back, less than a fraction remained. The Ogre population that remained renounced the Ogre King as their leader and attempted to overthrow his right to remain. But there was a reason he had this title before he left, and he reminded them the reason, his strength in battle was unmatched, and still is. The Ogre King brought his new found knowledge to his people, telling them of strange creatures with stranger abilities, and how much they knew and what they told him. He united their kind under one banner, and set out to find a piece of land large enough for all of his people, and there they built a city where they could live in peace. And with this city, the other races came out of hiding to marvel the wonder they had created. The Ogre King recognized the creatures and welcomed them to the city and to this day stands as a symbol of the King’s strength in uniting the races.
