Vast and undiscovered by the newer races, the world is prime and ripe to be used to the whim of our people. With such a large would left undiscovered, who know what mysteries are left to be recovered under the sands, within the seas, amidst our world. The portion that has been houses many small villages and cities selective to those who come, or even open to the other races. Some use it as a battlefield to test their strength, some as a means to find purpose for themselves, some even search to learn how to chance the world for the better. When we don’t know what’s impossible, we search for what is.
The Quest for Knowledge:
You are an individual on the quest to discover what is hidden in this world, to further your knowledge and find the unknown. Your purpose is your own but you and like-minded individuals must band together to discover the undiscovered and find the unfound!
History of the Races:
It has been a very long time since the race of man have been seen, the world seemed to abandon them as superior races began to emerge. Their cities are buried now, and their ways being left with them. But something new has been birthed in their absence, so the ways of man- seemed to be no longer needed. Magic came with the vampires, blood was their affinity and the cost they had paid to use it, and for this cost they were granted lengthened life and the knowledge they gave us, they are a secretive people who keep mostly to themselves, but do to their age, they are rather peaceful. It known they keep mostly to themselves and family is the most important part of their society. Science came with the Nymphs, though not the type of science in which one may think. Science comes from the world “knowledge” and those who follow this art, seek knowledge through their own means. The Nymphs knew the world better than anyone, how it worked and how it breathed, and with this information they could bend it to their whim. The oldest of their kind reside in the forests and kept the world alive and at balance, but the younger of their kind test their abilities and press their boundaries hoping to strengthen themselves.
The last to come were the Ogres, and what they brought was something less physical, but before I go into that, we must discuss them. Ogres are the youngest of the races to have emerged in the world, they are large, incapable of magic, and are too young to know what the world has to give them. This turned the race hostile, and they to this day fight among each other for dominance, Ogres are physically very powerful and their battles are said to cause earthquakes in the areas around them. Though the race has always longed for purpose, this longing is what causes them to wonder what the world had to give them. The leader of their kind left with the strongest of their warriors in search for other races and the information to bring back to their people, the Ogre King travelled, and first he came to a great forest so dense that the sun couldn’t be seen from within; The Ogre King entered this undiscovered forest, and within it he and the warriors were attacked by creatures formed by the land itself. Six of the warriors were killed, and they finally reached a clearing within the forest where the sky glowed blue. A woman much smaller than them appeared and said to the Ogre King he had no place roaming a forest with so many secrets to hide. The Ogre King in awe took the Nymph’s words, and asked only one question before leaving. “Where does an Ogre belong?” The Nymph knowing the Ogre would not leave without a valid answer replied “Under an open sky, in a city large enough to keep you safe.” The Ogre King and his men left peacefully, and continued their journey. They found nothing and the nature of their race began to work against them, they fought amongst one another for many days, until every warrior was killed and the Ogre King remained. He travelled alone for the remaining days before he could no longer walk, falling into a deep sleep. When the King woke up, he found that he was surrounded by many smaller creatures, and one approached him with a blade to his throat, he was bound and unable to defend himself. The creature recited some words the Ogre King didn’t understand, and then the bindings broke, and the creature asked the king why the creature was in the lands of his people. The Ogre King replied “Those I trusted turned on me, and they fought me till I was exhausted then killed one another.” The creature found pity on the king and asked him to leave in peace, but did not want to leave empty handed so before he left he asked the Vampire “Where does an Ogre belong?” the Vampire knowing that he would not leave without an answer replied “In a land where you, and those you love can live in peace.” The Ogre took these words to heart and left in peace, it took many years to find the two creatures and many more to finally return to his people, and by the time he came back, less than a fraction remained. The Ogre population that remained renounced the Ogre King as their leader and attempted to overthrow his right to remain. But there was a reason he had this title before he left, and he reminded them the reason, his strength in battle was unmatched, and still is. The Ogre King brought his new found knowledge to his people, telling them of strange creatures with stranger abilities, and how much they knew and what they told him. He united their kind under one banner, and set out to find a piece of land large enough for all of his people, and there they built a city where they could live in peace. And with this city, the other races came out of hiding to marvel the wonder they had created. The Ogre King recognized the creatures and welcomed them to the city and to this day stands as a symbol of the King’s strength in uniting the races.
Vampires – Believed to have once been human, they are beings with extremely extended lifespans, immense physical strength, and magic abilities. Their numbers are limited and all of them are part of the three noble families within their race. Their race is unable to reproduce and their numbers are dying down climactically, and due to this they have been searching for another means to procreate. Their three rulers are the Matriarch/Patriarchs of the royal families, each with their own seat within the throne room of the Giant City.
Nymphs – The oldest of the currently existing races, their lifespans are somewhat small despite the age of their people, passing down knowledge from generation to generation. They are a fragile people who are mostly careful with themselves. They are separated into two groups; Tree Spirits are the nymphs that cling to their old ways, focusing on protecting their knowledge and the forests of the world. The other group is called Redeemers, Nymphs that stride a different way of life based around experimentation and furthering their knowledge. There is a representative from each group with a seat in the Throne room of the Giant City.
Ogres – The youngest race which holds the most power in the current world, their lifespans are long but die young compared to Vampires. They are physically strong and superior in combat compared to the other races, they stand eight-to-ten feet in height, and their largest men are known to cause craters in battle. Their numbers are quite large and many have left the Giant City to challenge their strengths and further their knowledge of the world. The race is still controlled by the Ogre King who is the ruler of the Giant City and has the center seat within the throne room.
Monsters – Throughout the world there are many animals and creatures that call the world their home. But there are also less than ordinary creatures that are large enough to kill hundreds of combatants, intelligent enough to lead them to their deaths, or even powerful enough to burn villages to ash, no two are the same, none show mercy and most are evil.
Factions and People to Know:
The Royal Families –
The three families of vampires that coexist, they typically don’t always get along but usually resort to diplomacy before violence. The master of each royal house is the oldest within their family, each with a seat of power to make choices for their people. The first and oldest house is the Garnette family, led by Javier Garnette; he is a cold and wise old man who seems to be the first to make the hard decisions. The second house is the Celestine family, led by Cecilia Celestine; she is the youngest of the three and is only the house’s master through blood, her age tends to cloud her judgment but is the kindest of the three. The third is the Zilaron, led by Therios Zilaron; he is a dull individual and takes the form of a middle aged figure, but this is due to magic as his real age is unknown, he is the last to make decisions out of the three and is the least favored also. The Garnette, The Celestine, and The Zilaron, they each have distinguishing features to tell themselves apart. The Garnette family is known for their deep red iris within their eyes. The Celestine family is known for their creamy white skin. And the Zilaron family is known for their silver hair.
The Tree Spirits –
The Nymphs who are located outside of the Giant City who mostly keep to the forest protect their secrets and knowledge. They are a quiet group of people who would run from someone before making contact with them. The older ones who settle the issues of their people are scholars and teachers within the city educating the other races on the world they know. Their leader is Lilly the Blind, a seer who is the oldest of their race. Her heritage since birth has been to protect what she knows and keep the dark secrets of the world chained and kept from the other races so they cannot be misused. She is also known to be the wisest woman alive and a close friend to the Ogre King.
The Redeemers –
The Nymphs who are located within the Giant City and throughout the world to further their knowledge to progress for the generations to come. They are typically spontaneous and eccentric folk who practice their science where they deem fit and experiment on whatever they have around them. Their leader is Myrtle the Mad, a scientist, alchemist, and crazed masochist who is hated by her counterpart Lily. She is the most skilled in modern engineering and science, and often uses these abilities with experimentation openly.
The Ogre King-
The strongest being in the world, the oldest ogre within the Giant City, and some say he is the kindest person within the Throne Room. He is known to be curious and seek knowledge and power for the good of the people he rules over and often goes on journeys to discover more of the world’s lost history. He is the last Ogre of first tribe dating back to the beginning of the city, some of his kind speculated that one of the leaders of the other races granted him a longer life, or maybe he’s just a really healthy guy.
